A method for execution by a node in a database system includes determining to send a data block from a node to a destination node of a database system in accordance with execution of a query. An initial route to the destination node that includes a predefined number of relay nodes in a sequential relay ordering is determined. The second relay node in the sequential relay ordering is identified, and a set of intermediate node options that are each capable of receiving data from the node via a direct connection and capable of sending data to the second relay node via a direct connection is identified. One intermediate node is selected from the set of intermediate node options, and the data block is transmitted from the node to the one intermediate node to facilitate sending of the data to the destination node via exactly the predefined number of relay nodes.

A method for execution by a temporary ingress storage system includes receiving a set of records to be processed for long-term storage. The set of records are temporarily stored in a set of memory resources of the temporary ingress storage system during a first temporal period. Execution of a query is facilitated by accessing a subset of the set of records from at least one memory resource of the set of memory resources during the first temporal period. Migration of the set of records from the temporary ingress storage system to a long-term storage system for during a second temporal period that begins after the first temporal period has elapsed by sending the set of records to the long-term storage system.

A method for execution by a node of a computing device includes: determining level assignment data indicating assignment to a subset of levels of a plurality of levels of a query execution plan, wherein the plurality of levels includes a lowest level, at least one inner level, and a highest level; determining a query for execution; determining a query discriminator number corresponding to the query; determining to process the query at one of the plurality of levels based on determining the one of the plurality of levels is included in the subset of levels; generating query resultant data by facilitating execution of at least one query operator of the query in accordance with the one of the plurality of levels; selecting one of a plurality of possible parent nodes in a sequentially higher one of the plurality of levels based on the query discriminator number; and sending the query resultant data to the one of the plurality of possible parent nodes for processing.
