Abstract
Disclosed are systems, devices, and/or methods of use thereof regarding vaping devices, such as vaporizers, capable of receiving cartridges of different sizes and having protective sleeves or covers. In various aspects, a vaping device includes a battery having a base portion and a tower portion adjacent to the base portion. The base portion may define a void for receiving a cartridge of a first size and/or a cartridge of a second size different than the first size. The vaping device may also include a sleeve for receiving the battery. The sleeve defines a first void for receiving the cartridge of a first size and a second void for receiving the cartridge of a second size different than the first size.

[0001]This application claims the benefit of and priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/666,099 filed on Jun. 28, 2024 and titled, “VAPING DEVICES HAVING REMOVABLE PROTECTIVE SLEEVES,” the entire contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0002]This disclosure relates generally to aerosolization or vaping devices, such as vaporizers, capable of receiving cartridges of different sizes and having protective sleeves or covers.
SUMMARY
[0003]Disclosed are systems, devices, and/or methods of use thereof regarding aerosolization or vaping devices, such as vaporizers, capable of receiving cartridges or oil tanks of different sizes and having protective sleeves or covers. In various aspects, an aerosolization device includes a battery having a base portion and a tower portion or extension portion adjacent to the base portion. The base portion may define a void for receiving a cartridge of a first size and/or a cartridge of a second size different than the first size. The vaping device may also include a sleeve for receiving the battery. The sleeve defines a first void for receiving the cartridge of a first size and a second void for receiving the cartridge of a second size different than the first size.

The vaping device may also include a sleeve removably coupled to the battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0017]Most aerosolization or vaping devices on the market presently are limited to use with a single cartridge or oil tank of a single size. That is, the battery or another component of the vaping device is limited to supporting a single cartridge of a single size and cannot be used with cartridges of other sizes. This limits the variability of use for a user who may have many cartridges of many different sizes. Such a user would require a first sized battery to match a first sized cartridge, a second sized battery to match a second sized cartridge, and so on. This also leads to increased waste production (both in terms of wasted money and trash generation) as users continually need to purchase batteries to match their inventory of cartridges or oil tanks.
[0018]Additionally, most aerosolization or vaping devices are transported or stored in pockets, purses, and bags. It is highly undesirable for the substance stored in the cartridges to leak into these carriers. It is also highly undesirable for the vaping devices to be accidentally powered on, increasing the risk of leakage from the cartridge. Leakage from the cartridge also increases the likelihood that the cartridge is blocked or clogged with debris, as debris will readily adhere to the leaked material.
[0019]Storing these devices in pockets, purses, and bags also makes the device dirty (through the accumulation of dust, grime, debris, etc.). This impacts the efficiency and lifespan of the devices. However, many devices lack any protective mechanism against debris or leakage. Currently, no devices provide a way to access the cartridge connection point or the electrical components to service the device. This also leads to increased waste production (both in terms of wasted money and trash generation) as users continually need to purchase batteries to replace dirty and worn out batteries.

[0023]The oil tank 30 extends between a proximal end 31 (also referred to as a mouthpiece end) and the distal end 33. The oil tank 30 also has a reservoir 32 for holding a substance, such as oil, to be vaporized. The cartridge or oil tank of the first size 30a may have a diameter greater than that of the cartridge or oil tank of the second size 30b, such that the cartridge of the first size 30a may hold a greater volume of the substance, such as oil, to be vaporized.
[0024]The tower portion 12 of the battery 10 extends from the base portion 11 to a top surface 13. Disposed at the top surface 13 may be a first actuator 18, which may be for powering the battery 10 on and/or off. The first actuator 18 may be a button, switch, toggle, slide, multi-level button, or any other appropriate actuation mechanism. Disposing the first actuator 18 at the top surface 13 makes the actuator more accessible and ergonomic for a user of the vaping device 100. Specifically, a user can easily access the first actuator 18 with a pointer finger or thumb. Additionally, disposition of the first actuator 18 at the top surface 13 provides an automatic orientation or position of the vaping device 100 for a user. Further, the top surface 13 is a secondary surface of the vaping device 100 and placement of the first actuator at or near the top surface 13 minimizes the risk of accidental actuation of the first actuator 18.
[0025]The tower portion 12 also has a side surface 14. Disposed on the side surface 14 may be a second actuator 19 and/or a user interface 17. The second actuator 19 may be for adjusting one or more of a voltage, a temperature, a time, or a warm-up sequence for the vaping device 100. The user interface 17 may concomitantly display one or more of a voltage, a temperature, a time, or a warm-up sequence for the vaping device 100. The second actuator 19 may be a button, switch, toggle, slide, multi-level button, or any other appropriate actuation mechanism.

[0029]In some embodiments, the one or more sensors 56 include a microphone, a pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, and/or any other appropriate sensor. The one or more sensors 56 may also detect a presence of a cartridge of a first size 30a and/or a cartridge of a second size 30b. The temperature adjustment module 57 may be in communication with the power adjustment module 53 in order to control and set a temperature for vaping the oil or substance contained within a cartridge or oil tank 30 of the vaping device 100. In some embodiments, the temperature and/or the voltage are controlled based on detection of a cartridge of a first size 30a and/or a cartridge of a second size 30b.

[0031]Removing a sleeve from the battery may include disconnecting a coupling between the sleeve and a body of the battery (e.g., disconnecting a snap, clip, friction fit, etc.), and sliding the sleeve off the body of the battery. - [0068](d) reversing the orientation of the sleeve and disposing the sleeve back onto the battery portion in a second orientation in which in which a second void of the sleeve is aligned with the electrical contacts such that a second aerosol cartridge of a second size may be received by the second void and coupled to the electrical contacts, wherein the reversible placement of the sleeve in the first and second orientations selectively configures the effective radius of the cavity adjacent the electrical contacts without requiring any separate adapters, additional structural components, or modification to the battery portion, thereby permitting a single vaporization device to accommodate and vaporize cartridges of at least two different radial dimensions.

What is claimed:
1. An aerosolization device comprising:
a battery having a base portion and a tower portion adjacent to the base portion, the base portion defining a void for receiving a cartridge of a first size and/or a cartridge of a second size different than the first size; and
a sleeve for receiving the battery, the sleeve defining a first void for receiving the cartridge of a first size and a second void for receiving the cartridge of a second size different than the first size.

(a) selecting an aerosolization device comprising a battery portion with electrical contacts for operative coupling to an aerosol cartridge and an open-ended sleeve dimensioned to receive at least a part of the battery portion, the sleeve being reversibly positionable on the battery portion in first and second orientations:
(b) disposing the sleeve over the battery portion in a first orientation in which a first void of the sleeve is aligned with the electrical contacts such that a first aerosol cartridge of a first size may be received by the first void and coupled to the electrical contacts;
(c) decoupling the first aerosol cartridge from the electrical contacts and axially withdrawing the sleeve off of the battery portion; and
(d) reversing the orientation of the sleeve and disposing the sleeve back onto the battery portion in a second orientation in which in which a second void of the sleeve is aligned with the electrical contacts such that a second aerosol cartridge of a second size may be received by the second void and coupled to the electrical contacts.
