BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention(s). It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art, or material, to the presently described or claimed inventions, or that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.

1. Field of the Invention

[0003]The present invention relates generally to the field of pool accessories and more specifically relates to pool sweeping means.

2. Description of the Related Art

[0004]Many people in modern society use pools for entertainment, physical fitness or simply to relax and cool off during hot weather. Some pools are public, and some are private. Some are located indoors, and some are outdoor versions. All pools need to be cleaned, especially outdoor pools. A suitable solution is desired.

[0005]Various attempts have been made to solve the above-mentioned problems such as those found in European. Pat. Application No. 12184101.9 to Ben-Dov et al. This art is representative of pool sweeping means. None of the above inventions and patents, taken either singly or in combination, is seen to describe the invention as claimed.

[0006]Ideally, a pool sweeping means should provide effective and convenient cleaning of pools and, yet would operate reliably and be manufactured at a modest expense. Thus, a need exists for a reliable pool sweep system to avoid the above-mentioned problems.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007]In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known pool sweeping means art, the present invention provides a novel pool sweep system. The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail is to provide a means for easily cleaning pools.

[0008]The pool sweep system comprises a self-propelled manual Swifty Pool Sweep which is built from durable materials to withstand everyday pool cleaning activities. The pool sweep system manually attaches to standard pool extension poles in preferred embodiments. The pool pole attachment on the pool sweep system includes a swivel design that allows for easy maneuvering during cleaning. The pool sweep system preferably comes fully assembled with four (4) replaceable gear driven wheels that rotate the replaceable bristle/paddle brush. The pool sweep system contains two (2) debris holding compartments (front and back of the pool sweep system) that trap the debris being collected from the pool floor. Depending on the forward or backward motion being used during pool cleaning, the debris is swept and trapped in one or both of the debris holding compartments.

[0009]Upon completion of cleaning, the user removes the pool sweep system and cleans out the debris collected by gently pushing down on each of the spring loaded debris compartments to allow them to open. Once the compartments open, the user disposes of the debris, cleans compartments, closes the compartments and it is ready for the next cleaning.

[0010]A preferred embodiment of the present invention, pool sweep system, as disclosed herein comprises: a pool sweep assembly including a body, a coupler having a swivel which allows for maneuvering during cleaning, a bristle/paddle brush, four wheels that rotate, a bristle wheel, at least one axle shaft for driving the wheels, louvers being horizontal slats to admit air for circulation, and at least one debris holding compartment to trap debris as collected from pool surfaces (such as a pool floor). The bristle/paddle brush is replaceable and removably couplable to the body, and the wheels are preferably gear driven. The at least one debris holding compartment comprises two of the at least one debris holding compartments, each spring loaded, one located at a front end of the body and another at a back of the body, and wherein depending on forward or backward motion of the manual cleaning, the debris is swept and trapped in one or both of the debris holding compartments.

[0011]The swivel comprises a through hole. The swivel allows up to 360 degrees of rotation about an x axis, a y axis and a z axis. Some embodiments may just go through rotation in one axis and others may rotate through two axis or three. The motion can be similar to a universal joint. The swivel comprises a receiving means which is sized to fit about an outer circumference of a standard pool extension pole, wherein the through hole is configured to removably receive a pin (or other suitable connection means), and as such the pool sweep assembly is configured for removable attachment to the standard pool extension poles and useful for manual cleaning of the pool surfaces.

[0012]The pool sweep system may comprise a kit including: the pool sweep assembly, the standard pool extension pole, and a set of user instructions.

[0013]A method of using a pool sweep system is also described herein comprising the steps of: providing the pool sweep system, assembling a pool sweep assembly to a standard pool extension pole, and manually manipulating the pool sweep system to clean debris from a pool surface. The method may further comprise the steps of: pushing down on each of the spring loaded debris compartments to allow them to open, and once the compartments open, a user disposes of the debris, cleans the compartments, closes the compartments and it is ready for a next cleaning.

[0014]The present invention holds significant improvements and serves as a pool sweep system. For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and detailed description.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0024]As discussed above, embodiments of the present invention relate to a pool sweeping means and more particularly to a pool sweep system as used to improve the cleanliness of pools.

[0025]Referring to the drawings by numerals of reference there is shown in FIGS. 1-7, a swifty pool sweep, as a pool sweep system comprising the following: pool pole 1—standard pool extension poles that can be attach to the swifty pool sweep; swifty pool sweep cover 2—body panel of the swifty pool sweep; Louvers 3—horizontal slats to admit air for circulation; Seal groove 4—prevents the front and back from being scraped; Trash compartment lid 5—when pushed down on each of the spring-loaded debris compartments to allow them to open; Spring 6—allows the debris compartment to open; Wheels 7—preferably four replaceable gear driven wheels that rotate the replaceable bristle/paddle brush; Debris compartments 8—store the debris; Supporting bristle 9—confine the debris in one direction; Bristle/paddle brush 10—rotates to pull the debris to the debris compartment; Bristle wheel 11—a small wheel that rotates in tandem with the 4 larger wheels, thus controlling the rotation of the bristle/paddle brush; and Axle Shaft 12—metal rod between the wheels.

[0026]A pool sweep system comprises: a pool sweep assembly including, a body, a coupler having a swivel which allows for maneuvering during cleaning, a bristle/paddle brush 10, wheels 7 that rotate, and at least one debris holding compartment 8 to trap debris as collected from pool surfaces, and wherein the pool sweep assembly is configured for removable attachment to standard pool extension poles 1 and useful for manual cleaning of pool surfaces. The pool sweep system may further comprise louvers 3 which are preferably horizontal slats to admit air for circulation.

[0027]The bristle/paddle brush 10 of the pool sweep system is replaceable and removably couplable to the body. The wheels 7 are preferably gear driven; wherein the wheels 7 comprise at least two of the wheels 7 and preferably four wheels 7 for additional stability during use. The wheels 7 in alternate embodiments may not be non-gear driven. Gear driven is preferred because positive traction is maintained during use. The four replaceable gear driven wheels 7 rotate the replaceable bristle/paddle brush 10.

[0028]The at least one debris holding compartment 8 comprises two of the at least one debris holding compartments 8, one located at a front end of the body and another at a back of the body; wherein depending on forward or backward motion of the manual cleaning the debris is swept and trapped in one or both of the debris holding compartments 8. The swivel 13 comprises a through hole and the swivel 13 allows up to 360 degrees of rotation in at least an x axis. The swivel 13 is sized to fit about an outer circumference of the standard pool extension pole 1 for removable connection. The swivel 13 allows for the rotation at least on an X-axis and in certain embodiments the swivel 13 allows for the rotation about a Y-axis and/or about a Z-axis. The through hole is configured to removably receive a pin and alternately is configured to removably receive a non-pin such as a bolt or other suitably equivalent fastener means. The swivel 13 is able to travel through a range of rotational motion akin to a universal joint when removed from a driveshaft and rear end of a vehicle.

[0029]The pool sweep system comprises a self-propelled manual swifty pool sweep which is built from rugged materials to withstand everyday pool cleaning activities. The pool sweep system manually attaches to standard pool extension poles in preferred embodiments. The pool pole attachment on the pool sweep system includes a swivel design that allows for easy maneuvering during cleaning. The pool sweep system preferably comes fully assembled with four replaceable gear driven wheels that rotate the replaceable bristle/paddle brush.
