Discussion
General
[0051]Generally described, the present invention relates to a motorcycle riding jacket 10 which includes an inside pocket 12 which is configured to accept and contain a container 20 therein, such that the container 20 is prevented from losing its contents during operation of the motorcycle.
Details
[0052]Reference is first made to
[0053]
[0054]
[0055]
The Motorcycle Jacket 10
[0056]The motorcycle jacket 10 may be of any conventional materials, including cloth, leather, plastics, etc. In the present invention the jacket 10 may be understood to be configured to be worn during the riding process, but also to be removed from the rider's body. While removed, certain “inside portions” of the jacket may be understood to be exposed, said portions not being exposed while the jacket is being worn.
[0057]The motorcycle jacket 10 may be of a conventional type to the extent it includes long sleeves, a back panel 12, and a front panel which may be zipped or buttoned open and closed to allow the jacket to be donned and removed. The back panel 12 covers the rear side of the upper torso of the wearer and extends generally from the neck level to the waist level, as well as to either side of the wearer.
Inside Pocket 12
[0058]The back panel 12 includes an exterior back panel portion (which is in one embodiment a subportion of the back panel) and an interior back panel portion 13. The exterior back panel portion combines with the interior back panel portion 13 in order to comprise the inside pocket 14 as described elsewhere. The inside pocket 14 defines a selectively accessible storage cavity therein.
[0059]This inside pocket 12 is configured to accept and contain a storage container 20 therein, such that the container 20 is prevented from losing its contents during operation of the motorcycle.
[0060]The inside pocket 14 in one embodiment is openable at its top via a central zippered opening 16 (see
[0061]
[0062]
[0063]
Container 20
[0064]It may be understood that the container 20 may be of several degrees of flexibility, from a soft pliable material to a harder shell configuration, which is configured to provide protection for its contents as well as protection to a rider in case of an accident.
[0065]In one configuration, the container 20 is a semi rigid “shell” which, when installed, has a substantially planar top side which faces the back of the rider, and a slightly bulging back side which faces away from the rear of the rider.
[0066]As may be seen in
[0067]
[0068]
[0069]The storage container could be said to be of a clamshell construction including two cooperating portions configured to combine to define said inner container cavity of said storage container.
The Installation Process
[0070]To begin this explanation, it is assumed that the container 20 is separated from the jacket 10. At this point the container 20 can be unzipped as shown in
[0071]Once the container is loaded, it is installed as shown in
Advantages
[0072]As may be understood, the configuration allows for the storing items in a motorcycle jacket in a secure and safe manner, with the inside pocket precluding escape for the stored items notwithstanding high wind forces, etc.
[0073]It may be seen that the storage cavity is accessible only when the jacket is moved relative to the torso of the wearer, such that said rear portion of said jacket no longer covers said operator back side surface of said operator. This includes when the jacket is fully removed.
Conclusion
[0074]Various modifications and variations can be made in the present invention without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.
[0075]From the foregoing, it will be seen that this invention is one well adapted to obtain all the ends and objects herein set forth, together with other advantages which are obvious and which are inherent to the structure.
[0076]It will be understood that certain features and sub combinations are of utility and may be employed without reference to other features and sub combinations. This is contemplated by and is within the scope of the claims.
[0077]As many possible embodiments may be made of the invention without departing from the scope thereof, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
