Abstract

A sticklike device with one or two prongs and an attachment member that substantially attaches and detaches from the brim of a substantial array of headwear. When attached to headwear, the user can benefit from the stick substantially slicing a spider web prior to the spider web impacting the face of the user. This benefit can be experienced in a substantial amount of outdoor and indoor activities. Furthermore, the sticklike device does not substantially block the view of the user or substantially prohibit open air ventilation. Additionally, the sticklike device and attachment member can substantially fit within the pocket of a garment or small bag. The attachment member may be but not exclusively a clamp, a clip, a tab, a wedge, or a serrated projection. The sticklike device and attachment member can be configured but not exclusively as a single piece or multiple pieces connected with a bolt or pivot.

ORIGIN OF THE INVENTION

[0001]Outdoor enthusiasts such as but not exclusively mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers, and horseback riders can encounter spider webs (also known as cobwebs) during their respective trail-oriented activities. Upon encountering the spider webs, the spider webs can impact the face of the person and result in physical and emotional discomfort. It is not unusual for outdoor enthusiasts to pick up a stick up off the ground and to hold the stick in front of their face as they conduct their respective activity.

[0002]The pick a stick off the ground and hold it in front of one's face approach to solving the problem of spider webs impacting the faces of people seemed substantially unsafe and undesirable to the inventors of the present invention. Thus, the inventors of the present invention conducted an exhausting search for a product to solve this long felt but unsolved need. However, the inventors of the present invention could not identify a substantial solution. Therefore, the inventors of the present invention conceived and created the present invention to solve the said long felt but unsolved need.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003]Spider webs can be a nuisance to humans in outdoor and indoor environments when the human face impacts the spider web.

[0004]Humans can encounter spider webs outdoors when doing activities such as but not exclusively riding bicycles, riding dirt bikes, riding all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), riding horses, running, walking, hiking, hunting, and conducting military activities.

[0005]Humans can encounter spider webs indoors when doing activities such as but not exclusively construction, plumbing, electrical, pest control, cleaning, manufacturing, and conducting military activities.

[0006]Humans can wear headwear while doing outdoor or indoor activities. Examples of headwear but not exclusively, may be a baseball hat, running hat, hiking hat, walking hat, trucker hat, work hat, military hat, sports visor, sun hat, gardening hat, bicycling helmet, roller skating helmet, horseback riding helmet, dirt bike helmet, All-Terrian Vehicle (ATV) helmet, hardhat, construction helmet, logging helmet, military helmet, or any type of hat or helmet with a brim for a human head.

[0007]When conducting outdoor or indoor activities, humans may encounter spider webs for varying periods of time. Therefore, there may be a need for but not exclusively for a temporary solution that is attachable during the activity to slice spider webs and is detachable at some point during or after the activity. Consequently, a temporary solution for slicing spider webs may be but not exclusively compact enough to transport in a pocket on a garment or bag when the solution is not being utilized by the user.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0008]The present invention relates generally to the protection of the human body from impact from spider webs, and in particular to substantially partial protection of the face.

PRIOR ART

[0009]A multitude of United States (U.S.) patents (Pat.) focus on attaching visors or glasses to headwear for general protection of the full face, partial face, or eyes of a human. These patents include, but are not exclusive to: U.S. Pat. No. 2,728,913 Connor (Jan. 3, 1956); U.S. Pat. No. 2,866,978 Stuart et al. (Jan. 6, 1959); U.S. Pat. No. 3,797,042 Gager (Mar. 19, 1974); U.S. Pat. No. 6,959,989 B2 Holm (Nov. 1, 2005); U.S. Pat. US 2009/0229028 A1 Dobkins (Sep. 17, 2009); U.S. Pat. US 2010/0014046 A1 Millios (Jan. 21, 2010); U.S. Pat. 2010/0257659 A1 Hitch (Oct. 14, 2010); U.S. Pat. US 2011/0225707 A1 Millios (Sep. 22, 2011); U.S. Pat. No. 8,286,269 B2 Springer et al. (Oct. 16, 2012); U.S. Pat. US 2013/0145525 A1 Arenson et al. (Jun. 13, 2013); U.S. Pat. US 2016/0050990 A1 Hayes (Feb. 25, 2016); U.S. Pat. No. 9,629,407 B2 Foster (Apr. 25, 2017); U.S. Pat. US 2019/0021430 A1 Elliot (Jan. 24, 2019); U.S. Pat. US 2020/0253310 A1 Meadows (Aug. 13, 2020); U.S. Pat. US 2021/0298380 A1 Brown, II et al. (Sep. 30, 2021); U.S. Pat. No. 11,399,581 B2 Wilson et al. (Aug. 2, 2022). However, these patents are substantially bulky, substantially undesirable from an open-air ventilation perspective, and are not specific to the utility of the present invention. Therefore, these patents individually or combined do not provide a substantial solution to the long felt but unsolved niche need that is solved by the present invention.

[0010]U.S. Pat. US 2016/0157541 A1 Romanski, et al. (Jun. 9, 2016) and U.S. Pat. No. 10,945,480 B2 Romanski, et al. (Mar. 16, 2021) are focused on a decorative field of application and are relatively bulky in nature. Therefore, these patents individually or combined do not provide a substantial solution to the long felt but unsolved niche need that is solved by the present invention.

[0011]Many U.S. patents feature attachment members. These patents include but are not exclusively: U.S. Pat. US 2008/0040963 A1 Ochs et al. (Feb. 21, 2008); U.S. Pat. US 2008/0295295 A1 Rogers (Dec. 4, 2008); U.S. Pat. US 2011/0225707 A1 Millios (Sep. 22, 2011); U.S. Pat. US 2012/0047628 A1 Hardy (Mar. 1, 2012); U.S. Pat. No. 9,551,853 B2 Mansuy (Jan. 24, 2017); U.S. Pat. US 2020/0253310 A1 Meadows (Aug. 13, 2020); U.S. Pat. No. 10,746,547 B2 Chapman (Aug. 18, 2020). However, these patents serve substantially different niche needs than the present invention. Therefore, these patents individually or combined do not substantially provide a solution to the long felt but unsolved niche need that is solved by the present invention.

[0012]Trail Rides by Thang (https://www.amazon.com/Spiderweb-Catcher-ATV-4-Wheeler-Spider/dp/B01MFENIG7 viewed January 2025) may be the only commercially available solution to slicing spider webs before the spider webs impact the face of the human. However, this solution by Thang (https://www.amazon.com/Spiderweb-Catcher-ATV-4-Wheeler-Spider/dp/B01MFENIG7 viewed January 2025) requires mounting to an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV). Thus, the long felt but unsolved need that is solved by the present invention in various applications is not substantially solved by the niche application of the Spiderweb Catcher for ATV 4-Wheeler—No More Spider Webs in The Face on Trail Rides by Thang (https://www.amazon.com/Spiderweb-Catcher-ATV-4-Wheeler-Spider/dp/B01MFENIG7 viewed January 2025). Therefore, the present invention provides original utility in solving the long felt but unsolved niche need in a nonobvious manner.

[0013]There appears to be no known prior art that provides a substantially comparable utility to the present invention. Nor does any combination of prior art seem to be an obvious comparison to the present invention from the perceived perspective of an ordinary person with skill in the art because the present invention would exist if it were obvious due to the utility that the present invention provides. This lack of prior art with substantially comparable utility validates the original utility provided by the present invention in solving the long felt but unsolved need in a nonobvious manner.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0014]The present invention provides protection of the human body from impact from spider webs, and in particular to substantially partial protection of the face.

[0015]The attachment member and the sticklike device of the present invention are a novel configuration considering the advantages. These advantages include but are not exclusively: substantial attachment of the present invention to the brim of a substantial array of headwear; a substantially small size to fit within a substantially small pocket of a garment or substantially small bag; a substantially open-air ventilation of the face of the user.

[0016]The present invention solves a long felt but unsolved niche need. Furthermore, the lack of substantially applicable prior art or combination or prior art indicates that the present invention is novel and nonobvious. Therefore, the present invention has original utility to solve the long felt but unsolved niche need.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0017]One object of the present invention is substantially slicing spider webs.

[0018]Another object of the present invention is the protection of the human body from impact from spider webs, and in particular to substantially partial protection of the face.

[0019]A further object of the present invention is substantially open-air ventilation of the face of the user.

[0020]Another object of the present invention is substantially attaching and detaching from the brim of a substantial array of headwear.

[0021]A further object of the present invention is a substantially small size that can be substantially placed within the pocket of a garment or some sort of substantially small bag.

[0022]Another object of the present invention is a substantially narrow eye view obstruction for the human user.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

[0040]It is preferred to design the form of the present invention by utilizing computer aided design software (also known as CAD) or by hand drawing.

[0041]It is preferred to manufacture the present invention via 3D printing, molding, stamping, carving, or sawing.

[0042]It is preferred for the present invention to be comprised of plastic, composites, metal, wood, or grass (such as but not exclusively bamboo).

[0043]It is preferred to configure the attachment member and sticklike device as a single piece or in multiple pieces by utilizing a bolt (FIG. 16) or pivot (FIG. 17).

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0044]The present invention consists of an attachment member 1 and a sticklike device 2.

[0045]The attachment member 1 of the present invention serves the function of substantially attaching the sticklike device 2 to the brim 3 of headwear 4 (FIGS. 1-5, 19-25). Examples of an attachment member 1, but not exclusively, may be a clamp, a clip, a tab, a wedge, or a serrated projection (FIGS. 8-13).

[0046]The sticklike device 2 of the present invention serves the function of substantially slicing spider webs 6 prior to the spider webs 5 impacting the face of the user (FIGS. 19-20).

[0047]The height of the sticklike device 2 of the present invention is substantially a little less than or a little more than the height of the face of a human adult. Additionally, the gauge of the sticklike device 2 of the present invention having a substantial gauge of a common pen or less so to the gauge of a common knife blade. Moreso, the sticklike device 2 of the present invention has the form of but not exclusively a cylinder, rectangle, serrated edge, or a blunt edge (FIGS. 1-25).

[0048]The configuration of the attachment member 1 and sticklike device 2 of the present invention can be but not exclusively as a single piece or in multiple pieces by utilizing a bolt(s) 7 and nut 8 (FIGS. 13 & 16) or pivot(s) 9 (FIG. 17).

Claims

1. An attachable sticklike device for substantially slicing spider webs (also known as cobwebs) on the brim of a substantial array of headwear comprising: a sticklike device coupled to an attachment member utilizing a bolt or pivot, said attachment member being oriented to be substantially retained to the brim of a substantial array of headwear.

2. The attachable sticklike device of claim 1 further comprising: a sticklike device that has a height that is substantially a little less than or a little more than the height of the face of a human adult; said sticklike device having a substantial gauge of a common pen or less so to the gauge of a common knife blade; said sticklike device has the form of but not exclusively a cylinder, rectangle, serrated edge, or a blunt edge; said sticklike comprises a single prong or two prongs.

3. The attachable sticklike device of claim 1 further comprising, an attachment member that can be but not exclusively, a clamp, a clip, a tab, a wedge, or a serrated projection.
