Abstract
An attachment for a hair styling device including a body and a fan for generating air flow that includes a housing that is generally elongated having a proximal end, a distal end, an open space internally therein and a longitudinal axis. A first set of air emitting openings are arranged in an array that extends in a direction generally longitudinally for emitting air flow. A first manifold is in communication with the first set of air emitting openings. The first manifold is in communication with the housing to direct air flow from the housing to the first set of air emitting openings. The first set of air emitting openings are positioned adjacent to a first curved surface so that air emitted from the first set of air emitting openings is directed generally tangentially with respect to the first curved surface.

BACKGROUND
1. Field of the Disclosure
[0001]The present disclosure relates to one or more hair styling attachments connectable to an appliance having an electrically powered fan and heater in a handle. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a hair styling attachment having a top portion forming a center void that is connectable to an appliance having an electrically powered fan and heater in a handle that operates to generate an airflow through a series of holes in the hair styling attachment so that the user can place a tuft of hair against the hair styling attachment causing the hair to automatically wind around the hair styling attachment due to the airflow. The present disclosure also relates to a unitary hair styling appliance having a top portion forming a center void with an electrically powered fan and heater in a handle that operates to generate an airflow through a series of holes in a housing fixed to the handle so that the user can place a tuft of hair against the housing causing the hair to automatically wind around the housing due to the airflow.
2. Description of Related Art
[0002]There are hair styling attachments currently available that can connect to an appliance that generates an airflow. One such attachment is provided by U.S. Pat. No. 11,044,979 (“the '979 patent”). The attachment for a hand held appliance of the '979 patent includes a cylindrical head that has a series of continuous, elongated slots that each extends continuously from a proximal first portion to a distal end of the attachment. The '979 patent also includes that the distal end of the attachment is closed enclosing an open, single, relatively high volume inner cavity that forms a relatively large, uniformly cylindrical void therein. Accordingly, air flows from an appliance having an electrically powered fan and heater in a handle through the open, single, relatively high volume inner cavity and out of each of the elongated slots of the attachment of the '979 patent. The closed distal end enclosing the open, single, relatively high volume inner cavity and the continuous, elongated slots of the attachment of the '979 patent result in delivering air out of the attachment of the '979 patent at a velocity and pressure that are determined by and dependent upon the air flow output rate created by the fan and influenced by the shape and area of the slot openings. Such a relatively high volume inner cavity and relatively large air exit openings may result in relatively low velocity and pressure air flow output. Thus, the resulting velocity and pressure of outflowing air may not be optimal for hair styling.
[0003]Accordingly, it has been determined by the present disclosure that there is a continuing need for a device that overcomes, alleviates, and/or mitigates one or more of the aforementioned and other deleterious effects of prior devices.
SUMMARY
[0004]The present disclosure provides a hair styling attachment that is connectable to an appliance having an electrically powered fan and heater in a handle that operates to generate an airflow through a series of holes in the hair styling attachment so that the user can place a tuft of hair against the hair styling attachment causing the hair to automatically wind around the hair styling attachment due to the airflow. The airflow passes out of the holes that are through a single, integral, one-piece structure of the attachment to deliver air at higher velocity and high pressure due to the nozzle like action of each individual hole. The attachment also has a plurality of manifold structures with separate, isolated, relatively low volume chambers therein forming a distal end that is not closed but rather forms a center void. By having separate chambers, pressure and velocity are optimized (e.g., maintained higher in comparison to a single, large volume chamber), and the conical shape of the center void causes an initial air path in chambers closest to the hot brush handle to be larger than they are in the air chambers toward the distal end to inherently regulate and contribute to more uniform pressure and velocity among each hole along the length of the attachment so as to contribute to optimizing air velocity and pressure. The velocity of air emitted from the attachment is critical to the hair winding capability of the attachment for styling the user's hair. The geometry of the air channel spaces of the chambers and the use of the holes performs better at maintaining speed and pressure in all holes, including at the distal end.
[0005]The present disclosure further provides an attachment for a hair styling device including a body and a fan for generating air flow. The attachment includes a housing that is generally elongated having a proximal end, a distal end, an open space internally therein and a longitudinal axis. A connector is on the proximal end to connect or attach to a body of a hair styling appliance. A first set of a plurality of air emitting openings are arranged in an array that extends in a direction generally longitudinally for emitting air flow from the attachment. A first manifold is in communication with the first set of air emitting openings. The first manifold is in communication with the housing to direct air flow from the housing to the first set of air emitting openings. A first curved surface is generally curved that extends longitudinally along and forms a part of an exterior of the attachment. The first set of the plurality of air emitting openings are positioned adjacent to the first curved surface so that air emitted from the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings is directed generally tangentially with respect to the first curved surface.
[0006]The open space inside the attachment can extend longitudinally and be open at the distal end of the attachment, and the first manifold may not be in communication with the open space.

A first curved surface is generally curved and extends longitudinally along and forms a part of an exterior of the housing. The first set of the plurality of air emitting openings are positioned adjacent to the first curved surface so that air emitted from the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings is directed generally tangentially with respect to the first curved surface.

What is claimed is:
1. An attachment for a hair styling device including a body and a fan for generating air flow, the attachment comprising:
a housing that is generally elongated having a proximal end, a distal end, an open space internally therein, and a longitudinal axis;
a connector on the proximal end to attach to a body of a hair styling appliance;
a first set of a plurality of air emitting openings arranged in an array that extends in a direction generally longitudinally for emitting air flow from the attachment;
a first manifold in communication with the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings, the first manifold being in communication with the housing to direct air flow from the housing to the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings; and
a first curved surface that is generally curved and that extends longitudinally along and forms a part of an exterior of the attachment, the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings are positioned adjacent to the first curved surface so that air emitted from the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings is directed generally tangentially with respect to the first curved surface.

a first set of a plurality of air emitting openings arranged in an array that extends in a direction generally longitudinally for emitting air flow from the housing;
a first manifold in communication with the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings, the first manifold being in communication with the housing to direct air flow from the housing to the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings; and
a first curved surface that is generally curved and that extends longitudinally along and forms a part of an exterior of the housing, the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings are positioned adjacent to the first curved surface so that air emitted from the first set of the plurality of air emitting openings is directed generally tangentially with respect to the first curved surface.
