A system provides intelligent gallery management for biometrics. A first gallery is obtained that includes biometric and/or other information on a population of people. An application is identified. A subset of the population of people is identified based on the application. A second gallery is derived from the first gallery by pulling the information for the subset of the population of people without pulling the information for the population of people not in the subset. Biometric identification (such as facial recognition) for the application may then be performed using the second gallery rather than the first gallery. In this way, the system is improved as less time is required for biometric identification, fewer device resources are used, and so on.

In some implementations, a checkpoint device receives biometric data from a person. A digital representation of the biometric data is used to obtain an identifier from an identification system. The digital representation of the biometric data may not be included in the identifier. The identifier is used by to obtain ticketing information from a ticketing system. The person may be allowed or denied entry into a ticketed area based on the ticketing information.

An identification system uses a local cache for performing identifications. An identity system device may store identity information and identification information. An electronic device stores a cache of a portion of the identity information and a part of the identification information. The electronic device receives user input, determines an identity by comparing the user input to the cached identification information (such as by comparing a received digital representation of a biometric with cached biometric identification information), and performs an action using information in the cached identity information that is associated with the identity. The electronic device may update the identity information stored by the identity system device based on the action.

A biometric identity system performs enrollment with live confirmation. Biographic and/or other identity information may be obtained for a person via one or more first electronic devices. Biometric data may also be obtained for the person via the one or more first electronic devices. The biographic and/or other identity information may be used to verify the identity of the person. The person may then be enrolled in a biometric identity system, but a record for the person may be noted as unconfirmed and/or otherwise needing confirmation. Subsequently, one or more digital representations of one or more biometrics and/or other identifiers may be received for the person via one or more second electronic devices. The person may be identified and, in response, one or more confirmation processes may be initiated (such as requesting confirmation from a live agent) and the record for the person may be updated.

A computer-implemented method and system for verifying the identity of a user in an identity authentication and biometric verification system which includes collecting information from the user regarding the user's identity, which is then electronically authenticated. Upon authentication, personal information regarding the verified identity of the user is retrieved from a source database which is used to verify the identity of the user, via user interaction. Upon successful verification and authentication, biometric data regarding the user is electronically collected.
