A method for moulding an elongate articulated bending section body ( 4 ) for a medical device including a number of segments ( 7 ) interconnected via a number of hinge members ( 8 ). The method includes the use of a mould having a first number of sub-cavities where each of the sub-cavities has at least one external fluid inlet through which a liquified plastic material is injected into the mould. The sub-cavities are so distributed that each sub-cavity is separated from another sub-cavity by an odd number of sub-cavities without an external fluid inlet.

An endoscope including a handle, a wing, and an insertion cord. The handle includes a proximal operating section, a distal transition section, and an intermediate gripping section. The wing extends from the operation section and is selectively rotatable between an active position in which the wing extends along the handle to provide a hand space between the handle and the wing and a passive position in which the wing is moved away with respect to the handle positioning a free end of the wing at a second, larger, distance to the handle.

An endoscope and a system including the endoscope and a monitor. The endoscope includes a handle; an insertion cord including an insertion tube, a bending section and a distal tip unit and defining an insertion cord axis; a steering mechanism configured to swivel the distal tip unit and including: a first input wheel and a second input wheel, both rotatably supported by the handle; and a first steering wire, a second steering wire and a third steering wire, all steering wires provided for controlling a bending movement of the bending section, connected to the first input wheel and/or the second input wheel, and extending through the insertion cord, and each steering wire radially spaced from the insertion cord axis and angularly spaced with respect to each other in the circumferential direction of the insertion cord.

The present disclosure relates to an endoscope ( 2 ) including an interface ( 4 ); and an insertion cord ( 6 ) including an actively bendable bending section ( 10 ) which includes an integral bending section body ( 16, 16 ′) made of polymer material. The bending section body ( 16, 16 ′) includes segments ( 18, 18 ′) interconnected by hinges. The hinges ( 26, 26 ′) between adjacent segments ( 18, 18 ′) are formed by hinge protrusions ( 30, 30 ′) engaging in hinge recesses ( 32, 32 ′), and flexible connection portions ( 34, 34 ′) between the adjacent segments ( 18, 18 ′) provide an interconnection between the adjacent segments ( 18, 18 ′).

An endoscope ( 1 ) including a bending section ( 20 ) molded in one piece and including segments ( 22 ) connected to each other by hinges ( 24 ). An exterior surface ( 33 ) of the segments forms an outer surface of the bending section. A central passage ( 12 ) extends through each segment from a distal end to a proximal end of the bending section. Each segment has a recess ( 18 ) extending from the exterior surface into the segment. The recesses form a channel ( 30 ) extending in parallel with the central passage through the segments. An intermediate hinge and a periphery hinge connect two neighboring segments, where the intermediate hinge is placed between the central passage and the channel, and the periphery hinge is placed at the exterior surface of the segments. Electrical cables ( 7 ) are extending between the distal tip and the handle are arranged in the channel.
