A system and/or method for transferring funds to a gaming device from a wagering account associated with a debit instrument uses a sensory input received from the debit instrument to determine whether the debit instrument is in close proximity to the gaming device. In response to determining the debit instrument is in close proximity, a wireless connection is established between the debit instrument and the gaming device. A request to transfer an additional cashable credit value to the gaming device is sent to the gaming device through the wireless connection. The request is processed to electronically transfer the additional cashable credit value from the wagering account to the gaming device.

A gaming system having a field serviceable input assembly on an aperture-less glass. The input assembly includes a rotational lock mounted on the aperture-less glass, a displacement detection that utilizes infrared time of flight (IR-TOF) sensors. The input assembly includes mechanical components that are mounted on top of the aperture-less glass, and electronic components that are protected beneath the aperture-less glass. The rotational lock secures the top assembly on the aperture-less glass with flanges and fasteners.

A back-driving handle assembly for protecting a gaming machine from damage when the back-driving handle assembly is loaded in reverse. The back-driving handle assembly includes tuned counter-opposing springs and a ratchet plate with a specially designed tooth angle. The back-driving handle assembly allows normally locking ratchet and pawl to slip past some teeth on an overload condition, thus preserving functionalities of the back-driving handle assembly.

In one embodiment, an intermediary gaming trusted electronic device for use with an untrusted PED may operate to securely communicate with a gaming apparatus and securely communicate with the associated untrusted PED. The intermediary gaming trusted device is able to support interaction between the gaming apparatus and the associated untrusted PED. In another embodiment, a system to authorize a mobile electronic device to play games of chance may include a gaming system manager and a docking station. The docking station can be configured to: detect whether the mobile electronic device is connected to the docking station; and determine whether the mobile electronic device, or its user, is authorized to play a game of chance on the mobile electronic device.

A multi-module overhead display assembly for use with a gaming system. The multi-module overhead display assembly has a housing module releasably connected to one or more other housing modules for display of content above a game machine. A mounting structure for the releasably connected housing module is provided to be connectable to a mount system. At least one housing module comprises a controller having a processor and memory storing instructions, which, when executed, cause the processor to individually control each of the housing modules to display the content.

Gaming devices and systems incorporating one or more image projectors capable of displaying under control of a video controller. The video controller may be onboard the gaming device, or can be a video controller server in networked communication with an individual gaming device; wherein some cases both such video controllers may be utilized. The video controller(s) have access to one or more image projectors on a gaming device and may respond to different trigger conditions to exercise control over image projectors of respective gaming devices. An onboard video controller in a first gaming device may communicate with two or more additional gaming devices, such as a bank of gaming devices, for controlling image projectors of such devices.
