In general, a system for determining an authentication zone associated with an electronic lockset is disclosed. The lockset may determine to actuate a locking mechanism based in part on whether a user or a user device is located in the authentication zone. Various techniques for determining an authentication zone are disclosed. For example, an authentication zone may be determined based on one or more of a door handing or a door parameter. As another example, an authentication zone may be determined based on a user input. As another example, an authentication zone may be determined based on a detected location of one or more objects external to the electronic lockset.

An electronic lock assembly includes an exterior assembly, an interior assembly, and a latch having a deadbolt movable between an extended position and a retracted position, the latch being movable in response to rotation of a torque blade. The electronic lock includes a motor within the interior assembly and operable to rotate the torque blade, and a control circuit operatively connected to the motor and configured to selectively actuate the motor. A mortise insert includes a battery subassembly electrically connectable to the control circuit.

In general, an electronic lockset with automatic handing determination is disclosed. The lockset may be mounted to a door, and the lockset may automatically determine a handing of the door to properly lock and unlock the door. Various techniques are disclosed for determining handing, including analyzing an image of the door, selecting an image of the door, deriving handing based on data captured when swinging a door, determining a location of an external reference point, determining a rotational location of aspects of a latch assembly, performing another technique, or a combination of the described techniques.

An electronically-controlled manually-actuated deadbolt lock is provided. The electronically-controlled manually-actuated deadbolt lock includes an internal spring-actuated coupling mechanism that, when a user is authenticated, the coupling mechanism is placed in an engaged position that allows a deadbolt latch to be moved into a locked or unlocked position responsive to a manual rotation of a turn piece. Because the deadbolt latch is manually driven, a warped door condition can be overcome. Additionally, because the deadbolt latch is manually actuated, operation of the electronic motor may be decreased, which may increase battery life.

An electronic lock with a latch assembly, an interior assembly, and an exterior assembly. The latch assembly includes a bolt movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The assembly includes an internal spring actuating mechanism. The assembly also includes a touch keypad subassembly configured to detect touches to at least a portion of its surface.
