A camera having at least one image sensor includes a pixel array with at least three colors of narrowband pixels and wideband pixels. The camera is operable in a first mode in which the image sensor has first gain settings and generates an output having a first response. The camera is also operable in a second mode in which the image sensor has second gain settings and generates an output having second response. The image sensor is configured to generate a digital output in which the wideband pixels have a spectral output response approximately equal to the sum of spectral output responses of the narrowband pixels in the first mode. The image sensor is further configured to generate a digital output in which the wideband pixels have a spectral output response greater than in said first mode when in the second mode.

Also disclosed is a method of decoding an mth symbol of a second data sequence having a second data type and being created by encoding the nth symbol of a first data sequence having a first data type, said decoding generating an output symbol having said first data type. For example, the encoding device comprises an input on which a first data sequence is received, an output on which a second data sequence is transmitted and a processing system configured to process received symbols of the first data sequence in series and output symbols of the second data sequence.

A method of writing a media file comprises writing a media file which includes a file header, a file body for containing media elements, and a descriptor portion enabling reading of the media elements in the body portion. Further, the file header includes data enabling the location of the file's descriptor portion to be determined. The control panel has a proximal edge which is nearest a user and a distal edge that is furthest from a user in normal use. The control panel includes a plurality of controls. The plurality of controls includes: a plurality of trackballs, wherein each trackball comprises a ball and a control ring, said ball cooperating with at least one encoder to generate a multi-dimensional control signal based on motion of the ball, and said control ring cooperating with at least one encoder to generate a one dimensional control signal based on the rotational motion of the ring, wherein the ball of said trackball is mounted concentrically with said control ring; a plurality of control buttons; and a plurality of knobs coupled to respective rotary encoders.
