A battery adapter unit for an automatic clay thrower including a housing defining a battery receptacle area having a pair of input terminals to engage with battery contacts of a replacement battery and a first pair of protrusions defining a first recess therebetween; a slidable lever defining a catch to engage a corresponding projection on the replacement battery to slide with the replacement battery between a first position and second position when the catch is engaged with the projection, the projection corresponding to the rated voltage of the replacement battery; a pair of output terminals, one of the output terminals mounted in the first recess; and a circuit configured to be electrically connected to the replacement battery via the input terminals and to the output terminals, the circuit configured to adjust the voltage from the replacement battery and supplied to the output terminals.

A system including a laser rangefinder determining a target distance; a riflescope comprising an adjustment mechanism for setting a target distance; and a notification device, producing a notification when the adjustment mechanism is set to a target distance corresponding to the target distance determined by the laser rangefinder.

An optical aiming device for mounting on a firearm is provided, having a housing defining a barrel axis; an optical element received in the housing; an illumination device being arranged to project light onto the optical element to display a reticle, the reticle having a first light intensity; a light sensor arrangement comprising a first sensor defining a first effective detector angle of view and providing a first sensor signal and a second sensor defining a second effective detector angle of view and providing a second sensor signal, the light sensor arrangement being arranged to cooperate with the illumination device to enable adjustment of the light intensity of the reticle to a second light intensity as a function of the first and second sensor signals; and a processor configured to communicate with the light sensor arrangement to adjust the light intensity of the reticle as a function of the first and second sensor signals.

An optical aiming device for mounting on a firearm is provided, having a housing defining a barrel axis; an optical element received in the housing; an illumination device being arranged to project light onto the optical element to display a reticle, the reticle having a first light intensity; a light sensor arrangement comprising a first sensor defining a first effective detector angle of view and providing a first sensor signal and a second sensor defining a second effective detector angle of view and providing a second sensor signal, the light sensor arrangement being arranged to cooperate with the illumination device to enable adjustment of the light intensity of the reticle to a second light intensity as a function of the first and second sensor signals; and a processor configured to communicate with the light sensor arrangement to adjust the light intensity of the reticle as a function of the first and second sensor signals.

Disclosed are a device, computer program and method, for determining a range to a target, the device comprising a global positioning system (GPS) receiver, a pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, a controller; wherein the method comprises determining the device's geographic location based on coordinates from the GPS receiver and the device's elevation based on pressure and temperature data from the sensors; obtaining a location and elevation of a landmark based on GPS coordinates from a database; determining a distance between the device and the landmark using GPS coordinates; applying a slope compensation based on the difference in elevation between the device's elevation and the landmark; and converting the distance to a signal perceptible to a user.
