Systems, devices, and methods for electrically stimulating peripheral nerve(s) to treat various disorders are disclosed, as well as signal processing systems and methods for enhancing device monitoring protocols and detecting abnormal patient usage of the device.

A peripheral nerve stimulator can be used to stimulate a peripheral nerve to treat essential tremor, Parkinsonian tremor, and other forms of tremor. The stimulator can have electrodes that are placed circumferentially around the patient's wrist or arm. Specific nerves in the wrist or arm can be targeted by appropriate spacing of the electrodes. Positioning the electrodes on generally opposing sides of the target nerve can result in improved stimulation of the nerve. The stimulation pattern may alternate between the nerves. Improved stimulation algorithms can incorporate tremor feedback, external data, predictive adaptation, and long-term monitoring data.

A peripheral nerve stimulator can be used to stimulate a peripheral nerve to treat essential tremor, Parkinson tremor, and other forms of tremor. The peripheral nerve stimulator can be either a noninvasive surface stimulator or an implanted stimulator. Stimulation can be electrical, mechanical, or chemical. Stimulation can be delivered using either an open loop system or a closed loop system with feedback.

Wearable devices can be used to stimulate one or more nerves or proprioceptors to reduce essential tremor, Parkinson tremor, and other forms of tremor. Wearable devices for vibrotactile stimulation of proprioceptors are provided in certain aspects.

A transcutaneous stimulation system can be used to stimulate one or more nerves or proprioceptors to reduce essential tremor, Parkinson tremor, and other forms of tremor. Vibrotactile stimulation of proprioceptors is provided in certain aspects.

The present disclosure describes devices, methods and systems for modifying or altering gait kinematics via sensory augmentation and/or modifying muscle activation patterns via augmented motor learning to slow the progression of and/or reduce the pain associated with knee OA, particularly during gait (e.g., walking, running, stair climbing, etc.). Sensors can be used to measure gait parameters and characteristics and muscle activation patterns. Stimulation can be provided to the individual in order to promote learning new gait kinematics and muscle activation patterns.

A peripheral nerve stimulator to stimulate a peripheral nerve to treat essential tremor and other movement disorders, as well as overactive bladder, cardiac dysfunction and neurotransmitter dysfunction is provided. The peripheral nerve stimulator can be a noninvasive surface stimulator to provide multi-modal optimized therapy. Stimulation can be vibrational, electromechanical, thermal, radiant, electrical, magnetic, electromagnetic, light, mechanical, chemical, thermal, ultrasonic, radiofrequency (RF), acoustic, infrared, ultraviolet, x-ray, and/or microwave. Stimulation can be delivered using an open loop system and/or a closed loop system with feedback. Stimulation can be to one site or multiple sites.

In some embodiments, systems and methods can include a wearable device with an electrically conductive skin interface that excites the underlying nerves from a transcutaneous surface stimulator. The device may be sized for a range of user sizes with stimulation electrodes positioned to target the appropriate nerves, such as the saphenous and/or posterior tibial nerves. The therapy may be adjusted based on leg restlessness or movement.

Systems, devices, and methods for stimulating peripheral nerves in the fingers or hand to treat tremor are described. For example, a wearable ring device for delivering electrical stimulation to sensory nerves in a patient's finger can include an annular ring having a plurality of electrodes and a detachable unit having a power source and a pulse generator.
