Systems and method of removing volatile organic compounds from gaseous streams are described herein. The systems include an airbox having activated carbon mixed into a polypropylene matrix. The airbox may be used in the adsorption of gasoline vapors through a vehicle air intake manifold to reduce the emissions of gasoline vapors from motorized vehicles.

Mobile adsorber vessels for the filtering of fluids and methods of using the same are disclosed. The methods include providing a mobile adsorber vessel with a sorbent media in an amount of about 10 tons to about 16 tons and filtering chemicals from a fluid using the sorbent media. The method further includes removing the sorbent media from the mobile adsorber vessel by one of vacuum removal or slurry exchange.

Sorbent materials for the removal of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from drinking water and methods of using the same are disclosed. The sorbent materials are sized using a 20 US mesh and a 40 US mesh and provide improvements in PFAS removal and PFAS capacity as compared to larger sized sorbent materials.

Sorbent materials are described that have enhanced performance in removing chlorine and chloramine, among other toxic compounds. The sorbent materials are formed by a process which includes steps of oxidation, adding a nitrogen-containing compound, and calcining the sorbent. The processes of forming the sorbent materials are also disclosed. The sorbent materials have excellent performance as measured by a chloramine and/or chlorine destruction number, and the sorbents retain a high nitrogen edge concentration. The sorbent materials may also be incorporated into devices such as filter assemblies.

Sorbent material sheets are attached to an inner surface of an article having an enclosed volume, such as a cadaver pouch, an ammunition storage container, or a film or video tape storage box. The sorbent material sheets adsorb vapors which are released by the contents of the enclosed volumes, while providing flexibility and without releasing particles which could contaminate the contents of the enclosed volume.

The present disclosure described compositions which may be effective in removing contaminants from a gas stream such as nitrous oxides. The composition may include a sorbent which includes a metal including copper, zinc, or a combination thereof, and optionally includes triethylenediamine. Methods of making such a composition are also described, along with devices which use the composition to remove contaminants from fluid streams, particularly in vehicle tunnels and parking garages.

The present disclosure describes compositions that may be effective in removing contaminants, such as nitrous oxides, from a gas stream. The composition may include a sorbent that contains a metal including copper, zinc, or a combination thereof. Methods of making such a composition are also described, along with devices that use the composition to remove contaminants from fluid streams, particularly in vehicle tunnels or parking garages.

Sorbent materials that are treated with ions, salts, oxides, hydroxides, or carbonates of calcium, magnesium, strontium, or barium are useful in removing perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), 2,3,3,3,-tetrafluoro-2-(heptafluoropropoxy)propanoate and heptafluoropropyl 1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl ether, and similar compounds from liquids and gases are disclosed. The sorbent materials with the disclosed treatments offer improved performance as measured against untreated sorbent materials.

Sorbent materials for the adsorption of hydrocarbons and methods for manufacturing them are described. The sorbents include a slurry of activated carbon and a porous sheet layer permeable to hydrocarbons configured to remove emissions from air intakes. The methods for manufacturing the sorbent materials include providing both a hydrocarbon permeable layer and a slurry that includes the sorbent material, drying the slurry, and affixing the dried slurry layer to the surface of the hydrocarbon permeable layer.

The disclosure provides sorbents and sorbents that improve the adsorption of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The sorbents and sorbents have microstructures that efficiently adsorb PFAS, as shown by the combination of high volumetric iodine number and high volumetric molasses number. Methods of manufacturing and methods of use are further provided.
