Disclosed is a lubricating oil composition which comprises: (a) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity having a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. in a range of about 2 to about 50 mm 2 /s, (b) an overbased metal salt of an alkyl-substituted phenate detergent, wherein the alkyl group is derived from an isomerized normal alpha olefin having from about 10 to about 40 carbon atoms per molecule and having an isomerization level (I) of the normal alpha olefin of from about 0.1 to about 0.4 in an amount to provide at least 1000 ppm of calcium, (c) one or more magnesium-containing detergents having about 100 to about 1000 ppm of magnesium, based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition, and (d) one or more zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate compounds derived from a primary alcohol.

Disclosed are methods and apparatus for preventing corrosion within the annulus of a flexible pipe used in a riser in an offshore hydrocarbon production facility. Buffer fluid comprising a passivating agent is introduced into the annulus to form protective layers on metal surfaces within the annulus to resist corrosive materials from contacting the metal surfaces. The passivating agents may be one or more of a polyalphaolefin, a polybutene, or a polysiloxane. A corrosion inhibitor may be combined with the passivating agent in the buffer fluid. Pretreating of the metal surfaces within the annulus prior to introduction of the buffer fluid can be performed with a pretreating corrosion inhibitor.

A lubricating oil composition is disclosed. The composition includes a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and one or more dispersant friction modifiers given by Structure A, R 1 , and R 3 are independently a linear or branched-chain monovalent hydrocarbyl radical of 4 to 100 carbon atoms; x is from 1 to 3; and y is from 1 to 3; R 2 is a linear or branched-chain monovalent hydrocarbyl radical of 4 to 100 carbon atoms or hydrogen; and at least one of R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 is a polyisobutenyl group having a molecular weight of 500 or greater.

Lubricating oil composition is provided. The composition includes several components including a major amount of a base oil, a mixture of alkylated diphenylamines having a weight ratio of mono-alkylated diphenylamine to di-alkylated diphenylamine ranging from 0.6 to 4.0, and a molybdenum or sulfur additive that provides synergistic enhancement of oxidation stability in combination with the mixture of alkylated diphenylamines.

In some embodiments, the present disclosure provides for ethylene-C 3 to C 20 alpha-olefins random copolymers having an ethylene content of about 45 wt % to about 70 wt % and a Mw(DRI)/Mn(DRI) of from 1.1 to 1.9. In some embodiments, the ethyl-C ene-propylene random copolymer is used as a viscosity modifier in a lubricating composition.

A lubricating oil composition is described. The composition includes a base oil, a first succinimide dispersant composition comprising a reaction product of a hydrocarbyl succinimide and an aromatic glycidyl ether having a structure: wherein R 1 is an aryl or alkaryl group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, and R 2 and R 3 are independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, or an aryl group; and a second succinimide dispersant.

A lubricating oil composition is disclosed. The composition includes a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, one or more alkylhydroxy benzoate compound derived from isomerized normal alpha olefins, and oxidation inhibitor system comprising a molybdenum-containing antioxidant and a diphenylamine. The molybdenum-containing antioxidant is present in an amount to provide at least 120 ppm of Mo to the lubricating oil composition. The diphenylamine is present in an amount to provide 0.5 wt. % or more to the lubricating oil composition.

A marine diesel engine lubricating oil composition includes (a) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) one or more olefin copolymers having a number average molecular weight of 30,000 to 120,000. The marine diesel lubricating oil composition has a TBN of less than 70 mg KOH/g. The marine diesel lubricating oil composition is a monograde lubricating oil composition meeting the specifications for SAE J300 revised January 2015 requirements for a SAE 40, SAE 50 or SAE 60 monograde lubricating oil.

The present disclosure relates to lubricant compositions comprising a branched copolymer and methods for making such compositions. Lubricant compositions of the present disclosure comprise an oil and a copolymer and have a high temperature high shear (HTHS) viscosity of about 5 or less, shear stability index (30 cycles) of from about 2% to about 80%, a ratio of thickening efficiency to shear stability index (30 cycles) of from about 1:2 to about 1:30, a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of from about 3 cSt to about 30 cSt, and a thickening efficiency of about 1 or more. In another class of embodiments, the present disclosure provides a lubricant composition comprising a first and a second copolymers wherein the first copolymer has an ethylene content higher than that of the second copolymer, and wherein at least one of the two copolymers is a long chain branched ethylene copolymer.

This disclosure describes a gaseous-fueled, low-speed, or medium speed engine lubricating oil composition. The composition includes a major amount of base oil; and a lubricant additive having the following structure: where each R 1 is independently a hydrocarbyl group having 10-400 carbons; X is an alkyl, aryl, or heteroaromatic group having 1 to 10 carbons; Y is nitrogen, oxygen, or sulfur; each R 2 is independently a hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 9 carbons; Z is nitrogen, oxygen, or sulfur; and each R 3 is independently a hydrogen or hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 9 carbons with one or more nitrogen, oxygen, or sulfur functionalization, wherein p is 1 to 3, n is 1 to 20 and m is 0 to 3.
