A method and a system of deploying an ignition interlock device (IID). The method comprises receiving a time series of breath alcohol content (BrAC) measurements that are unitarily sourced from a pre-identified user, each BrAC measurement of the time series including an alveolar breath component and an interferent breath component; estimating a dissipation rate of alcohol attributable to the pre-identified user in accordance with the time series of BrAC measurements; determining, responsive to estimating the dissipation rate of alcohol, at least a subset of the BrAC measurements as being based on the alveolar breath component but not the interferent breath component; and performing one of triggering and not triggering the IID into a lockout state based on the at least a subset of the BrAC measurements.

Embodiments herein relate to THC detection devices. A method of detecting THC compounds, is included, the method includes receiving an exhaled breath sample; heating a capture structure to a temperature to vaporize THC compounds; oxidizing the vaporized THC compounds on a detector element, wherein the detector element includes a THC targeted enzyme substrate; and detecting an amount of the THC compounds present in the exhaled breath sample. A breath alcohol device calibration system includes a computerized calibration module operable to calibrate a breath alcohol device, and an interface operable to couple the breath alcohol device to a remote server. The interface uses a connection employing a cryptographic function such that data stored on the breath alcohol device can be securely transferred from the breath alcohol device to the remote server using the calibration system. The interface is further operable to transfer data stored on the breath alcohol device from the breath alcohol device to the remote server directly without storing the data in nonvolatile storage on the calibration station.

A method and a system of deploying ignition interlock device functionality. The method comprises receiving data in authentication of a user account associated with the IID; rendering a user interface at the mobile computing device, the user interface including indication of a status of the user account associated with the IID; and receiving a selection of a user action responsive to the status of the user account associated with the IID.

Embodiments herein relate to detection devices. In an embodiment, a method of detecting THC compounds, is included, the method includes receiving an exhaled breath sample; electrochemical processing of the exhaled breath sample using a fluorescent molecule to form a fluorescent-labeled THC adduct; purifying the fluorescent-labeled THC adduct; and determining an amount of THC in the exhaled breath sample based on a measured fluorescence of the purified fluorescent-labeled THC adduct; wherein the fluorescent-labeled THC adduct is formed without a highly-reactive handle. Embodiments herein relate to a vehicle immobilization system is having a detection unit operable to detect a level of an intoxicant in a user, a control system to receive a signal from the detection unit indicating a level of intoxicant in the user, and a wireless transmitter configured to transmit signals. The system further includes a wireless relay system configured to be disposed in an engine compartment of the vehicle and having a wireless receiver configured to receive the signals from the wireless transmitter.
