A biopsy device includes a body, a needle, a hollow cutter, a tissue sample holder, and a drive mechanism. The needle extends distally from the body and includes a lateral aperture. The cutter is movable relative to the needle to sever a tissue sample and defines a cutter lumen. The tissue sample holder includes a rotatable member and one or more tissue receiving trays. The rotatable member is configured to receive each tissue receiving tray of the one or more tissue receiving trays. The rotatable member is further configured to rotate relative to the cutter to index each tissue receiving tray relative to the cutter. The drive mechanism includes a drive screw. The drive screw is configured to drive both rotation and translation of the rotatable member.

A marker delivery device includes a grip, a cannula, a push rod, and a marker element. The cannula extends distally from the grip. The push rod is configured to move within the cannula and includes a distal end with one or more seals configured to seal against an interior of the cannula. The marker element includes one or more barbs. The push rod is configured to generate a pressure within the cannula between the one or more seals and the marker element to eject the marker element from the cannula.

A marker delivery device includes a handle, an elongate cannula, a push rod assembly, and a plunger. The handle includes a first bore disposed within a portion of the handle. The elongate cannula extends distally from the handle along a longitudinal axis. The push rod assembly includes a mating feature. The push rod assembly is disposed within the first bore and extends distally through the cannula. The plunger is disposed within the first bore proximally of the push rod assembly and includes an engagement feature. The engagement feature is removably coupled to the mating feature. The engagement feature is configured to de-couple from the mating feature when the plunger translates the push rod assembly distally.

A biopsy device includes a probe, a needle, a cutter, and a manually actuated needle rotation assembly. The probe includes a probe housing. The needle extends from the probe. The cutter is disposed within the needle. The cutter defines a cutter lumen and at least partially defines a vent lumen between an exterior of the cutter and an interior of the needle. The needle rotation assembly includes a pinion shaft. A portion of the pinion shaft is exposed relative to the probe housing such that the pinion shaft is configured for actuation using a single hand while grasping the biopsy device with the single hand.

A biopsy site marker includes a carrier, a marker element, and a locator. At least a portion of the marker element is disposed within a portion of the carrier. The locator is configured to emit vibrations into tissue proximate the biopsy site marker.

A core needle biopsy device includes a needle assembly, a cutter drive assembly, a piercer drive assembly, and a latch mechanism. The needle assembly includes a piercer and a hollow cutter. The piercer including a sharp distal tip and a notch proximate the distal tip. The piercer being slidably disposed within the cutter to sever a tissue sample into the notch of the piercer. The cutter drive assembly is configured to move the cutter. The piercer drive assembly is configured to move the piercer. The piercer drive assembly includes a lead screw. The lead screw is configured to move both a portion of the cutter drive assembly and a portion of the piercer drive assembly. The latch mechanism is configured to selectively couple a portion of the cutter drive assembly to a portion of the piercer drive assembly.

A core needle biopsy device, including: a needle assembly, the needle assembly including a piercer and a hollow cutter, the piercer including a sharp distal tip and a notch proximal to the distal tip, the piercer being slidably disposed within the cutter to sever a tissue sample into the notch of the piercer; a drive assembly configured to selectively move the piercer and the cutter; and a tissue sample holder including a sample chamber, a fluid source, and a nozzle, the fluid source being configured to eject a liquid or gas from the nozzle and against a portion of the biopsy device to manipulate a severed tissue sample into the sample chamber.

A marker delivery device includes a housing, a flexible push rod, and a wheel. The push rod includes a first transverse dive surface and a deployer tip. The deployer tip is configured to receive a biopsy site marker. The wheel includes a second transverse drive surface. The first transverse drive surface is configured to be driven by the second transverse drive surface to translate the push rod distally.

A biopsy system includes a biopsy device, a control module, and a tissue transport tube. The biopsy device includes a probe, a needle, a cutter, and a transport valve. The needle extends distally from the probe. The cutter is movable relative to the needle and defines a cutter lumen. The holster is configured to couple to the probe. The transport valve is in communication with the cutter lumen. The control module is in communication with the biopsy device and includes a sample management assembly configured to receive one or more tissue samples severed by the cutter. The transport tube extends between the sample management assembly and the biopsy device. The transport tube is in communication with the transport valve such that the transport tube is configured to receive the one or more tissue samples severed by the cutter.
