Systems/methods are disclosed wherein information is transferred from a first subsystem to a second subsystem; wherein the first subsystem comprises a connection to the second subsystem and is configured to perform operations comprising: sending first information to the second subsystem; receiving second information from the second subsystem; using the second information to form a waveform; and transmitting the waveform thus formed to an apparatus other than the second subsystem. According to some embodiments, said sending comprises wirelessly sending and/or said receiving comprises wirelessly receiving. According to further embodiments, said using the second information to form a waveform comprises using a combination of the first information and the second information to form the waveform wherein, according to some embodiments, said combination comprises a linear combination.

According to various embodiments of systems/methods disclosed herein, a system/method includes operations comprising: identifying a plurality of transmission paths, at least two of which comprise a heterogeneous difference relative to one another, for relaying information by a first system to a second system; transmitting first information by the first system to the second system by transmitting first data over a first transmission path of the plurality of transmission paths; and transmitting second information by the first system to the second system by transmitting second data over a second transmission path of the plurality of transmission paths; wherein the first transmission path comprises a heterogeneous difference relative to the second transmission path.

Systems/methods are disclosed of a first device that is configured to wirelessly receive configuration information from a second device relating to a plurality of transmit modes to be established; and to establish the plurality of transmit modes and store configuration parameters associated therewith. The first device is further configured to communicate with the second device by using a first transmit mode of the plurality of transmit modes that have been established and stored; and to select and use a second transmit mode of the plurality of transmit modes that have been established and stored responsive to an index parameter, received from the second device, that relates to configuration parameters stored at the first device for the second transmit mode. According to some embodiments, the first device selects and uses the second transmit mode of the plurality of transmit modes responsive to a parameter associated with data that is to be transmitted.

A method/system is provided comprising the steps/functions of: associating a first device with a person; storing information in the first device; and responsive to an authority associated with a second device, and responsive to receiving a request at the first device from the second device, selectively accessing a specific component of the information that is stored in the first device, comprising only a subset of the information that is stored in the first device, via the second device and a wireless link that is established between the first device and the second device.

Embodiments are provided wherein a mobile device that is associated with a cellular system is configured to communicate with a second device that is associated with the cellular system subject to a time-varying, dispersive, multipath fading environment. The mobile device comprises an antenna system comprising a plurality of polarizations and a processor that is configured to reduce a cross-polarization interference caused by said time-varying, dispersive, multipath fading environment while the mobile device uses a first polarization and a second polarization of the plurality of polarizations to increase a transmission throughput of information and/or a reception throughput of information. The mobile device is further configured to perform operations including processing first and second signals received respectively on the first and second polarizations and to use a plurality of receive channel coefficients to perform first and second mathematical operations on the first and second signal, respectively.

Inventive concepts are disclosed wherein a first device is configured to establish at least three transmit modes responsive to instructions received from a second device; to store the at least three transmit modes that are established and then to communicate with the second device by using at least one transmit mode of the at least three transmit modes that are established and stored. According to some embodiments, the first device selects and uses a transmit mode of the at least three transmit modes responsive to a parameter associated with data that is to be transmitted and/or responsive to an index, comprising two bits of information, received from the second device; wherein said at least three transmit modes differ from one another in at least a bandwidth, frequencies, subcarriers, an antenna configuration, a power level and/or a physical layer of an air interface.

Systems/methods are disclosed wherein a first device is configured to perform operations comprising: responsive to information received from a second device, establishing at least three transmit modes comprising at least three respective air interfaces any two of which comprise a physical layer variant relative to one another; and storing the at least three transmit modes at the first device; then, communicating with the second device using a first transmit mode of said at least three transmit modes that are established and stored. At any given time, using at most one transmit mode of said at least three transmit modes that are established and stored; and selecting and using a second transmit mode of said at least three transmit modes that are established and stored responsive to: (i) a parameter associated with data that is to be transmitted, or (ii) an index received from the second device, comprising two bits of information.

Systems/methods are disclosed wherein a device, comprising a wireless transmitter and a wireless receiver, is situated in a motor vehicle and is used to perform operations comprising: wirelessly communicating with a plurality of other devices that are situated in a respective plurality of other motor vehicles; wirelessly communicating with at least one base station of a cellular system; wirelessly communicating with at least one road-side access point; wirelessly communicating with at least one smartphone; and maneuvering the motor vehicle responsive to wirelessly communicating with the plurality of other devices that are situated in said respective plurality of other motor vehicles, responsive to wirelessly communicating with the at least one base station of the cellular system, responsive to wirelessly communicating with the at least one road-side access point and/or responsive to wirelessly communicating with the at least one smartphone.

Embodiments are disclosed wherein a plurality of transmission paths is identified and then used by a first system in transmitting information to a second system. According to some embodiments, the first system is configured to perform operations comprising: transmitting information to the second system by transmitting first data over a first transmission path of the plurality of transmission paths; transmitting information to the second system by transmitting second data over a second transmission path of the plurality of transmission paths; and causing the second system to aggregate the first data with the second data that is received thereat via the first transmission path and the second transmission path respectively.
