According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a system is disclosed. The system may comprise a light assembly, an imager, and/or a controller. The light assembly may be configured to emit an array of illumination elements onto a scene. The imager may be configured to capture one or more images of the illumination elements projected onto the scene. The controller may be configured to selectively activate the light assembly between a first state and a second state. In the first and second sates, respectively, first and second groups of the illumination elements are selectively activated to emit first and second patterns of illumination elements.

An optical stack includes a front major surface and a rear major surface defining a peripheral edge. A reflective element is located between the front and rear major surfaces and configured to modify the transmission of light. A scattering layer is located between the front major surface and the reflective element. The scattering layer is switchable between a transmissive mode and a scattering mode. In the transmissive mode, light reflected from or transmitted through the reflective element is substantially unchanged. In the scattering mode, light reflected from or transmitted through the reflective element is substantially scattered.

A rearview mirror assembly includes an assembly housing and a connection member extending from a first end coupled to the assembly housing and a second end configured to be coupled to a vehicle interior. An optical stack is coupled to the assembly housing and includes an electro-optic element configured to switch between a substantially transmissive state and a substantially darkened state based on an applied voltage. A printed circuit board (“PCB”) is located within the connection member and in conductive communication with the electro-optic element for selectively transmitting the applied voltage. The rearview mirror assembly further includes a first light sensor and a light guide pipe. The light guide pipe includes a first guide end located in the assembly housing and proximate the optical stack and a second guide end located proximate the first light sensor, and the light guide pipe extends at least partially through the connection member.

An illumination system includes an array of LEDs including a plurality of first LEDs and a plurality of second LEDs. A microlens array overlays the plurality of LEDs and includes a plurality of first lenses corresponding to the plurality of first LEDs and a plurality of second lenses corresponding to the plurality of second LEDs. A first geometry of at least one of the plurality of first lenses is different than a second geometry of at least one of the plurality of second lenses. An imaging device is configured to capture an image based on light reflected from the array of LEDs. At least one processing device is in communication with the array of LEDs and the imaging device. The at least one processing device is configured to identify a shadow cast on the target region by an obstruction and selectively activate the array of LEDs based on the shadow.

A sensor to detect solid particles of a target salt can include a support substrate, an adsorption layer, a sensing layer oriented between the support substrate and the adsorption layer, and an electrode pair in contact with the sensing layer and separated by the sensing layer. The adsorption layer can include an ion exchange medium formed of a first porous structured material functionalized with basic or acidic functional groups. The basic or acidic functional groups can remove an acid or base component from the target salt to form a free base or free acid, respectively, of the target salt. The sensing layer can include a second porous structured material functionalized to detect the free base or acid of the target salt by a change in conductivity.

An electro-optic assembly includes a front substrate that has a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. A second substrate has a third surface and a fourth surface opposite the third surface, the second and third surfaces face each other to define a gap. A first electrode is coupled to the second surface and a second electrode is coupled to the third surface. An electro-optic medium is in the gap. At least one of the first and second electrodes are an antireflective electrode stack including a conductive layer formed of a transparent conductive oxide, an overcoat layer in contact with the electro-optic medium and formed of a substantially transparent conductive material, an insulating layer between the conductive layer and the overcoat layer, and a base layer between the substrate and conductive layer. A conduction well contains the electro-optic medium and extends through the insulating layer.

A monitoring system for an automobile includes at least one illumination source that is configured to project a first illumination type towards a driver location. At least one imaging device is configured to capture the first illumination type at the driver location. A visor assembly includes a stowed position and an articulated position. The visor assembly in the articulated position obscures at least part of the first illumination type from the driver location. An electro-optic device is located in the visor assembly and is configured to switch between a transmissive state and a darkened state. The first illumination type passes through the electro-optic device in the transmissive state and the darkened state, and a second illumination type passes through the electro-optic device in the transmissive state but is blocked in the darkened state.

A sensor assembly for detecting a presence of an analyte includes a detector and a microheater. The detector includes an electrode layer including interdigitated electrodes and nanofibers that are formed of a fiber material exhibiting an electrical signal that changes based on exposure to the analyte. The microheater is coupled to the detector and includes a heating element that is capable of heating at least a portion of the detector to a temperature that reduces a quantity of water molecules in a region proximate the nanofibers.
