A method for producing an optical fiber preform, comprising the method steps of synthesizing glass particles using a plasma zone generated by a plasma generator; repeatedly moving a glass preform axially forward and backward relative to the plasma generator during a rotational movement of the glass preform, wherein the forward and backward movement takes place between two reversal points at a relative feed rate; and, depositing the glass particles on the glass preform while the glass preform moves and rotates relative to the plasma generator.

In a method for machining a preform blank for producing a preform of a multi-core fiber, an eccentric hole is produced in the preform blank using a drill. The hole extends along a longitudinal extent of the preform blank. A position of the preform blank and/or of the drill is selected such that a drift of the drill occurring during drilling causes a change in a position of the hole within a cross section of the preform blank, which change is greater in the azimuthal direction than in the radial direction. In this way, the harmful radial drift component can be minimized, and a preform of particularly high quality can be produced.

This makes it possible to provide longer preforms for optical fibers while ensuring high accuracy of the bore.

A composite material comprising a matrix which is made of quartz glass and into which regions of a silicon carbide-containing phase are embedded. A method for producing the composite material having the following method steps: providing a mixture comprising amorphous quartz glass particles and a silicon carbide-containing powder as a suspension; forming a shaped body by means of a slip casting method starting from the suspension produced to obtain a green body; drying the green body; and, sintering the dried green body. A use of a composite material for producing a part for components of process chambers in which semiconductor wafers are processed into chips, for systems in which high-temperature processes are carried out, for components which are heated by means of radiation and for components which block thermal radiation.

The production of near-net geometry rings from a multi-component glass, in particular thick-walled rings with wall thicknesses of more than 10 mm. For this purpose, a ring-shaped blank is first produced from the multi-component glass using a casting process, in which a casting strand made of a glass melt of the multi-component glass is fed into a casting mold with a ring-shaped casting cavity running around a center axis. The casting strand hitting an impact zone diverges into a right-hand substream and a left-hand substream, with the substreams converging at a merging zone in the casting cavity and filling the casting cavity over at least part of its height. After the glass melt cools, a ring-shaped blank is obtained, which is further processed into a glass ring made of the multi-component glass.

The invention relates to an anti-resonance ele-ment preform for producing an anti-resonant hollow-core fiber, in an axial top view comprising a circular first cir-cle element with a first circle radius and a circular arc-shaped first circular arc element with a first circular arc radius. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing an anti resonance element preform, a preform for producing an anti-resonant hollow-core fiber comprising at least one anti-resonance element preform and an anti-resonant hol-low-core fiber. According to the invention, it is provided that the first circle element and the first circular arc element are connected to one another at two contact points.

The invention relates to microstructured optical fibers that are drawn through hollow channels and have a core region, which extends along a fiber longitudinal axis, and a jacket region surrounding the core region. The aim of the invention is to reduce a damping increase due to corrosion and to reduce the emission of chlorine on the basis of the microstructured optical fibers. This is achieved in that at least some of the hollow channels are delimited by a wall material made of synthetic quartz glass which has a chlorine concentration of less than 300 wt. ppm and oxygen deficiency centers in a concentration of at least 2×1015 cm-3.

A method for producing an anti-resonant hollow-core fiber having an outer diameter of less than 500 mm, having the steps of: providing a sheath tube, which comprises a sheath tube inner bore and a sheath tube longitudinal axis along which a sheath tube wall extends, the sheath tube wall being delimited by a sheath tube inner face and a sheath tube outer face; preparing a number of anti-resonance units, each comprising an ARU outer tube; inserting at least parts of the anti-resonance units into the sheath tube inner bore; and creating a hollow-core assembly comprising the sheath tube and the anti-resonance units by at least partially connecting the anti-resonance units to the sheath tube inner face; preparing a jacket tube, which comprises a jacket tube inner bore and a jacket tube longitudinal axis along which a jacket tube wall extends.

The invention relates to the production of an anti-resonant hollow-core fiber consisting of a capillary blank and a sleeve tube. The capillary blank comprises an external capillary and a nested internal capillary, and is stretched to a maximum external diameter ODARE_cap and a maximum wall thickness WTARE_caP. The blank is mounted on the inside of the sleeve tube. In order to retain the advantages of the pre-produced capillary blank with respect to ease of assembly and precision, while keeping the associated drawbacks owing to ovality low and predictable, it is proposed that the geometric internal diameter and external diameter of the external capillary and of the internal capillary, as well as ODARE_cap and WTARE_caP, are aligned in relation to one another in such a way that the ARE-external capillary of the capillary blank has a degree of ovality of less than 1.025.

Anti-resonance element preform for producing an anti-resonant hollow-core fiber includes a first longitudinal axis, an ARE outer element designed in a circular arc-like manner, and an ARE inner element. The ARE outer element and the ARE inner element are connected to one another along two connecting lines, which are arranged essentially in parallel to the first longitudinal axis. The ARE outer element has an inner space, which is at least partially limited by an ARE outer wall and into which the ARE inner element, designed in a circular arc-like manner, protrudes at least partially.
