An indexable parting blade has opposite blade first and second sides, a blade peripheral edge, a central index axis, and at least first, second and third insert pockets located along the blade peripheral edge. The parting blade also has first, second and third coolant channels, each forming a coolant path from a corresponding inlet to a corresponding one of the insert pockets. Each coolant channel includes a rake outlet opening out to a rake side of its corresponding insert pocket and a relief outlet opening out to a relief side of that same insert pocket. The inlet corresponding to a given coolant channel is located further from that coolant channel's insert pocket than at least one of (a) the inlet corresponding to a different coolant channel, and (b) the central index axis.

A cutting tool includes a replaceable cutting head including a forward cutting portion and a rearward mounting portion and a head through hole extending therethrough. The mounting portion includes a male coupling member. The male coupling member includes a conically shaped head abutment surface. The cutting tool includes a female coupling member including a conically shaped forward holder abutment surface and an internal thread. The cutting tool includes a fastening member having an external thread. When the cutting tool is in a locked position, the male coupling member is removably retained in the female coupling member by the fastening member located in the head through hole, the fastening member external thread and the holder internal thread being threadingly engaged with each other. The head abutment surface abuts the forward holder abutment surface thereby forming a Morse taper coupling between the male and female coupling members.

A turning tool ( 1 ) that does not easily interfere with other tools and can supply a sufficient amount of coolant is provided. The turning tool ( 1 ) includes: a cutting insert ( 10 ) which is mirror-image symmetric with respect to a first and second symmetric surfaces (M 1 , M 2 ); and a tool body ( 2 ) which has a first discharge port ( 5 ) to supply coolant to a first cutting edge ( 21 E) of the cutting insert ( 10 ) from a first rake surface ( 21 R) side. The first discharge port ( 5 ) is disposed between a second flat surface ( 32 ) and a first reference surface (Vxz) which is parallel with the second flat surface ( 32 ) and includes an edge line of the first cutting edge ( 21 E).

A cutting head rotatable about a central axis, comprising a tip portion and an intermediate portion. The tip portion has an axially forwardmost tip point contained in the central axis and three axially forward facing front surfaces forming three chisel edges extending axially rearwardly away from the tip point, each front surface having a radially extending cutting edge comprising a secondary cutting-edge portion extending radially outwardly from one of the chisel edges, and a primary cutting-edge portion extending radially outwardly therefrom. Each primary cutting-edge portion is contained in an imaginary annular ring surface having an annular ring width spanning at least radially inner and outer end points thereof. In a front-end view of the cutting head, each primary cutting-edge portion is concave, and radial planes intersect the imaginary annular surface to form imaginary rectilinear lines, each having a length equal to the annular ring width.

A head replaceable cutting tool having a structure that can limit a machining cost when a clearance portion is formed in a portion at which a head is attached and detached, and also limit deformation of a shank is provided. The head replaceable cutting tool includes: a projection portion or a hole portion for attachment and detachment disposed in a head; a shank to which the head is attachable; a hole portion, to which the projection portion is removably attachable along a central axis, or a projection portion disposed in an end portion of the shank; a fastening member that presses the projection portion toward an inner circumference surface of the hole portion; and a fastened portion disposed in the shank to fasten the fastening member. The hole portion has a transverse cross-sectional shape that is a substantially circular shape having a curvature radius R 1 , and the projection portion has a transverse cross-sectional shape including a contact portion at which an outer circumference surface of the projection portion is in contact with the inner circumference surface of the hole portion and a clearance portion that is formed in a part of the outer circumference surface so as to deviate radially inward from a virtual circle corresponding to the inner circumference surface and does not come into contact with the inner circumference surface.

A rotary cutting tool rotatable about a tool axis in a direction of rotation having a front cutting portion and a rear coupling portion. The front cutting portion has a front outer peripheral surface with a plurality of N circumferentially spaced apart cut-outs, each cut-out having an operative cutting edge associated therewith. A central coolant passage extends along the tool axis from a rear end of the rear coupling portion to the front cutting portion. A first plane perpendicular to the tool axis intersects the central coolant passage and the N operative cutting edges. In a cross-section taken in the first plane, the central coolant passage has a non-circular shape with N radially outer coolant regions. At least one coolant duct extends transversely from each radially outer coolant region to intersect with and open out at a corresponding one of the N cut-outs at a coolant exit port.

A tool coupling extends along a longitudinal axis and has a first component, a second component, and a clamp for fastening the first component to the second component. The first component has a male clamping portion, the second component has a female clamping portion, and the clamp is located in an inner cavity of the second component. The male clamping portion has a first abutment region located axially rearward of a first plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the inner cavity has a second abutment region located axially forward of the first plane, and the first and second abutment regions face towards the first plane. In a fastened state, a clamp first engagement region of the clamp makes clamping contact with the male clamping portion's first abutment region, and a clamp second engagement region of the clamp makes clamping contact with the inner cavity's second abutment region.

A two-cutting-edge parting insert including a first cutting portion, a second cutting portion and an elongated body portion connecting the first and second cutting portions. The elongated body portion has a body width (BW) measurable parallel to a lateral axis and a body length (BL) measurable parallel to an elongation axis. The body width is smaller than both cut widths of the cutting edges of the first and second body portions and fulfills the condition: 0.65 mm≤BW≤0.95 mm; and the body length fulfills the condition: 2 mm≤BL≤14 mm.

A double sided V-shaped cutting insert includes insert front and back surfaces and a peripheral surface extending therebetween. The peripheral surface has a forward surface, a first planar converging surface, and a first rake surface extending between the forward surface and the first converging surface. A second planar converging surface forms a convergence angle φ, 30°≤φ≤45° with the first converging surface. A second rake surface extends between the forward surface and the second converging surface. In a view perpendicular to the insert front surface, the cutting insert exhibits mirror symmetry about a bisector plane passing between the first and second rake surfaces. The first and second rake surfaces each face away from the bisector plane. The first rake surface tends towards the bisector plane more than the first converging surface, and the second rake surface tends towards the bisector plane more than the second converging surface.

An insert holder has a holder longitudinal axis defining opposite forward to rearward directions, a holder end surface located at a forward end thereof, and a holder peripheral surface extending circumferentially about the holder longitudinal axis. The insert holder has upper and lower jaws which are spaced apart by a clamping recess recessed in the holder end surface. The upper jaw is resiliently movable with respect to the lower jaw upon rotation around an angled pivot axis. The insert holder includes a forwardly located insert mounting portion which includes a forwardly protruding clamping finger and a forwardly protruding support rib. The clamping recess is defined partially by an elongated recess hinge surface formed on an angled hinge portion. The recess hinge surface includes a first hinge end and a second hinge end, longitudinally spaced apart from one another. The second hinge end is located forward of the first hinge end.
