A chemical plant initially arranged such that a hydrocarbon-containing off-gas stream is combusted to provide at least some of the heating duty on the chemical plant, the method comprising the step of: installing an off-gas treatment unit arranged to accept said hydrocarbon-containing off-gas stream, the off-gas treatment unit comprising sequentially: (i) a gas-heated reformer and an autothermal reformer, arranged to accept a hydrocarbon-containing fuel stream comprising hydrocarbons and produce a reformed gas stream, and arranged such that gases from the outlet of the autothermal reformer are used to provide heat required for steam reforming in the gas-heated reformer; (ii) a water-gas shift section arranged to accept said reformed gas stream and produce a shifted gas stream; and (iii) a CO2 removal unit arranged to accept said shifted gas stream and produce a CO2 rich stream and a decarbonised fuel stream.

A method of quantifying a content of an insoluble metal compound in an aqueous suspension comprising an insoluble metal compound and a metal ion-exchanged molecular sieve is disclosed, The method comprises: treating the aqueous suspension of the insoluble metal compound and the metal ion-exchanged molecular sieve with a selective solubilising agent for the insoluble metal compound, thus producing a treated mixture comprising a metal solution comprising a dissolved metal from the insoluble metal compound and undissolved metal ion-exchanged molecular sieve; and quantifying a dissolved metal content of the treated mixture using a suitable analytical technique.

The present disclosure relates to a powder coated article for filtering particulate matter from exhaust gases. The powder coated article comprises a coated monolith article, and a powder coating on the coated monolith article. The coated monolith article is a monolith article coated with an on-wall washcoat, and the powder coating comprises an inorganic particle and a silicone resin in a ratio of between 50:1 to 1:9. The present disclosure also relates to a method forming said powder coated article.

Process A process for producing hydrogen gas from the catalytic cracking of ammonia. The process comprises the step of supplying a hydrogen containing recycle gas taken from downstream of an ammonia cracking reactor to one or more catalyst containing reaction tubes disposed within the ammonia cracking reactor. The invention may be used to provide hydrogen gas as a non-carbon containing fuel.

A powder spraying system comprises a source of dry powder ( 4 ), a spray nozzle ( 25 ), and a supply conduit ( 16 ) connecting the source of dry powder with the spray nozzle. The spray nozzle comprises a nozzle body ( 50 ) having a nozzle outlet ( 51 ), a first conduit ( 52 ) for dry powder, and a second conduit ( 53 ) for gas. The first conduit extends between a powder inlet ( 54 ) in communication with the supply conduit and a powder outlet ( 55 ). The second conduit extends between a gas inlet ( 56 ) and a gas outlet ( 57 ), the gas outlet being located in proximity to the powder outlet such that a gas flowing through the second conduit and out of the gas outlet produces a suction force at the powder outlet to promote flow of a dry powder through the first conduit and out of the powder outlet and the nozzle outlet. The powder outlet and the gas outlet are orientated to promote mixing of the gas with the dry powder. The first conduit ( 52 ) is a straight conduit between the powder inlet ( 54 ) and the powder outlet ( 55 ).

A method for separating at least two metals from each other in a metal refining process, the method including injecting a feed solution comprising the metals into a column or flow pipe comprising a monolithic solid body having a plurality of channels, wherein the monolithic solid body is a single, continuous, bonded, solid body comprising the plurality of channels through which the feed solution can flow; and flowing the feed solution through the plurality of channels in the monolithic solid body to separate the metals.

A chemical plant comprising an off-gas treatment unit arranged to accept a hydrocarbon-containing off-gas stream, the off-gas treatment unit comprising sequentially: (i) an autothermal reformer, arranged to accept a hydrocarbon-containing fuel stream comprising hydrocarbons and steam and produce a reformed gas stream; (ii) a water-gas shift section arranged to accept said reformed gas stream and produce a shifted gas stream; and (iii) a CO2 removal unit arranged to accept said shifted gas stream and produce a CO2 rich stream and a decarbonised fuel stream; wherein said hydrocarbon-containing fuel stream is derived from said hydrocarbon-containing off-gas stream, steam and any supplemental fuel; wherein the chemical plant is arranged such that the decarbonised fuel stream is combusted instead of said hydrocarbon-containing off-gas stream.

A method of reducing the greenhouse gas impact of livestock farming includes feeding a fuel gas comprising one or more hydrocarbons to an anode of a solid oxide fuel cell stack, withdrawing air, that includes methane originating from livestock, from a livestock housing or enclosure and feeding the withdrawn air to a cathode of the solid oxide fuel cell stack. The oxygen in the air is allowed exothermically to react with the one or more hydrocarbons in the fuel gas to form at the anode a heated first exhaust stream comprising water and carbon dioxide and at the cathode a heated second exhaust stream comprising methane, thereby generating an electrical current from the solid oxide fuel cell stack through an external electrical circuit. At least the heated second exhaust stream is fed to a combustor and combusted, producing a heated tail gas stream.

The present disclosure relates to a method for forming a catalyst article comprising: (a) forming a slurry having a solids content of up to 50 wt % by mixing together at least the following components a crystalline molecular sieve in an H + or NH 4 + form, an insoluble active metal precursor and an aqueous solvent at a temperature in the range 10 to 35° C.; (b) coating a substrate with the slurry formed in step (a); and (c) calcining the coated substrate formed in step (b) to form a catalyst layer on the substrate. The present disclosure further relates to a catalyst article, particularly a catalyst article which is suitable for use in the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides, and to an exhaust system.

A catalyst for the electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide to a C2+ product. The catalyst comprises copper and a metal (M) selected from the group consisting of: yttrium (Y), zinc (Zn), lanthanum (La) and gadolinium (Gd); wherein the molar ratio of Cu:M is from 100:1 to 100:10. The catalyst has particular use in a gas diffusion electrode, a catalyst coated membrane of an electrolyser.
