An integrated temperature swing adsorption (TSA) process and gas fermentation process and device is disclosed. A heated tail gas stream from the gas fermentation process is used to heat and regenerate adsorbent in the TSA device. A portion of treated feedstock from the TSA device is used to cool the regenerated adsorbent. Integration of a tail gas stream from the gas fermentation zone used for regeneration of absorbent in the TSA eliminates the need for an inert gas regenerant and using TSA treated gas feedstock for cooling regenerated adsorbent allows for maximum recovery and use of available gas feedstock. Alternatively, when a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process is also employed, a purge stream from the PSA may be used as regenerant in the TSA process.

Systems and methods relating to dynamic spargers for generating fine bubbles within reactors such as biological and chemical reactors. A sparger system is positioned within a reactor and comprises a support plate, multiple annular shrouds engaged with the support plate, and spargers positioned within the annular shrouds defining a gap between an interior surface of the annular shroud and an exterior surface of the corresponding sparger. Liquid flows through the defined gap between an interior surface of the annular shroud and an exterior surface of the sparger. Acceleration of the liquid through the gap shears bubbles at the exterior surface of the sparger creating bubbles or fine bubbles.

Methods and a recombinant C1-fixing microorganism for the continuous production of products from gaseous substrates. Further, the gaseous substrate comprises CO 2 and an energy source. The recombinant C1-fixing microorganism has a disruptive mutation in a membrane bound hydrogenase gene. The C1-fixing microorganism having the disruptive mutation minimizes the H 2 :CO 2 uptake ratio.

Methods and non-naturally occurring strains for the continuous production of single-cell protein (SCP) from gaseous substrates. Further, the gaseous substrate comprises CO 2 and an energy source. The non-naturally occurring strains are capable of continuously growing autotrophically at up to about 40° C. SCP can be used as an ingredient in food or feed.

The present disclosure relates to single cell protein (SCP) products obtained from Cupriavidus necator that has been engineered to produce digestive enzymes or otherwise enhanced. The biomass produced by the C. necator and the SCP products that include it contain digestive enzymes that are not naturally produced by C. necator.

This can be improved by varying promoters or nutrient limiting means.

The disclosure is directed to a method for recovering products from a fermentation broth. The disclosure relates to the use of extractive distillation to recover products which have close boiling points, such as ethanol and isopropanol, from a fermentation broth. In an embodiment, the recovery of product is completed in a manner that minimizes stress on the microbial biomass, such that it remains viable, at least in part, and may be recycled and reused in the fermentation process, which may result in increased efficiency in the fermentation process. The extractive distillation vessel reactor may be used downstream of a distillation vessel. To minimize stress on the microbial biomass the distillation vessel may be under vacuum. The extractive distillation vessel may be used alongside a separation vessel such that the separation vessel is capable of recycling extractive distillation agent.

The invention provides a method for producing a terpene or a precursor thereof by microbial fermentation. Typically, the method involves culturing a recombinant bacterium in the presence of a gaseous substrate whereby the bacterium produces a terpene or a precursor thereof, such as mevalonic acid, isopentenyl pyrophosphate, dimethylallyl pyrophosphate, isoprene, geranyl pyrophosphate, farnesyl pyrophosphate, and/or farnesene. The bacterium may comprise one or more exogenous enzymes, such as enzymes in mevalonate, DXS, or terpene biosynthesis pathways.
