A fixed blade knife includes a first scale having a first scale inner surface and a second scale opposed to the first scale having a second scale inner surface. A blade has a cutting edge that extends from the first and second scales and a tang that extends between the first scale inner surface and the second scale inner surface. A first recess in the first scale inner surface extends from the first scale inner surface partially through the first scale, and a first flange is around at least a portion of the first recess in the first scale inner surface. A first boss extends from the tang of the blade into the first recess in the first scale inner surface, and a perimeter of the first boss increases away from the tang of the blade.

A pocket knife includes a chassis and a blade having a retracted position in which the blade is locked inside of the chassis and a deployed position in which at least a portion of the blade is locked outside of the chassis. An actuator is slidingly engaged with the chassis to reposition the blade between the retracted and deployed positions. A lock is pivotally connected to the chassis and has a surface defined by the lock. A first projection extending from the surface of the lock engages with the blade in the deployed position to lock the blade in the deployed position.

A pocket knife includes a chassis, a surface defined by the chassis, and a blade having a retracted position in which the blade is locked inside of the chassis and a deployed position in which at least a portion of the blade is locked outside of the chassis. An actuator is slidingly engaged with the chassis to reposition the blade between the retracted and deployed positions. A stop pin is connected to the blade. An end of the stop pin extends a predetermined distance from the blade to engage with the surface defined by the chassis when the blade is in the deployed position to prevent movement of the blade with respect to the chassis.

A pocket knife includes a chassis that defines a cavity. A blade having a cutting edge has a retracted position and a deployed position. A slider inside the cavity has a first surface opposed to a second surface. A front operator is inside the cavity, and the slider engages with the front operator to move the blade to the deployed position. A rear operator is inside the cavity, and the slider engages with the rear operator to move the blade to the retracted position. A spring connects the front operator to the rear operator along the first surface of the slider. A longitudinal recess is defined in the chassis. A first boss extends radially from at least one of the front operator or the rear operator and slidingly engages with the longitudinal recess in the chassis.
