A method for managing information of FRUs is implemented by a BMC that connects to multiple electronic devices and a user-end device. The method includes: sending a query to each electronic device requesting information datasets therefrom, each of which includes header information; for each information dataset, when determining that the electronic device corresponding to the information dataset is an FRU based on the header information, generating an identification code that corresponds to the information dataset, and storing the information dataset and the identification code; when receiving, from the user-end device, an OEM command requesting for all identification codes, sending the identification codes to the user-end device; and when receiving a command set that includes one of the identification codes stored in the BMC, sending the information dataset that corresponds to the one of the identification codes to the user-end device.

A firmware verification method for a management system including a control circuit, a first protection circuit, a second protection circuit, a first memory and a second memory. The first memory includes first firmware including first secondary boot firmware and first primary boot firmware. The second memory includes second firmware including second secondary boot firmware and second primary boot firmware. The firmware verification method includes: when the control circuit boots according to the first memory, the first protection circuit verifying the first secondary boot firmware; when the first secondary boot firmware passes the verification, the control circuit verifying the second primary boot firmware according to the first primary boot firmware; when the second primary boot firmware passes the verification, the control circuit rebooting according to the second memory; and when the control circuit boots according to the second memory, the second protection circuit verifying the second secondary boot firmware.

A firmware verification method for a management system including a control circuit, a first protection circuit, a second protection circuit, a first memory and a second memory. The first memory includes first firmware including first secondary boot firmware and first primary boot firmware. The second memory includes second firmware including second secondary boot firmware and second primary boot firmware. The firmware verification method includes: when the control circuit boots according to the first memory, the first protection circuit verifying the first secondary boot firmware; when the first secondary boot firmware passes the verification, the control circuit verifying the second primary boot firmware according to the first primary boot firmware; when the second primary boot firmware passes the verification, the control circuit rebooting according to the second memory; and when the control circuit boots according to the second memory, the second protection circuit verifying the second secondary boot firmware.

A server and an updating method for a MAC address are provided in the present application. The server includes: a network chipset having a preset first MAC address; a first non-volatile memory storing the first MAC address of the network chipset; a second non-volatile memory storing a first BIOS code data; a central processing unit coupled to the network chipset and the second non-volatile memory; and a baseboard management controller coupled to the central processing unit, the first non-volatile memory, and the second non-volatile memory. The baseboard management controller reads the first non-volatile memory to obtain the first MAC address and stores a second BIOS code data including the first MAC address to the second non-volatile memory, causing the first BIOS code data to be overwritten by the second BIOS code data.

A method of updating firmware of a BMC of a server, the server includes the BMC and a PLD, the method includes: in response to receipt of a firmware update instruction to update the firmware of the BMC, the BMC storing in the PLD a firmware configuration file that contains current settings; the BMC updating the firmware after storing the firmware configuration file in the PLD; the BMC being reset after updating the firmware; and the BMC executing an initializing process that includes sub-steps of reading the firmware configuration file from the PLD and applying the current settings contained in the firmware configuration file to the firmware.

A server system and a firmware updating method thereof are provided. The server system includes a first module and a second module. The first module includes a first logic circuit and a first selection circuit. The second module includes a second logic circuit, a second selection circuit, a control circuit, and a storage circuit. The first selection circuit is configured to select the transmission target of the first logic circuit according to a first control signal. The second selection circuit is configured to select the transmission target of the second logic circuit according to a second control signal. The control circuit is configured to update the firmware of the first logic circuit and the firmware of the second logic circuit. The storage circuit is configured to store a support list having default usage codes, and each of the default usage codes indicates a corresponding one of target devices.

A method of updating a firmware of a computer including a motherboard that has a BMC and a first CPLD, and a backplane that has a second CPLD having a flash memory. The method including steps of: the first CPLD changing a logical value of a signal when the first CPLD determines that a power of the computer is in a desired range; the BMC receiving the signal, and being initiated once the logical value of the signal has been changed; when the BMC is to update a firmware of the second CPLD, the BMC changing a logical value of a register of the first CPLD; and when the first CPLD determines that the logical value of the register has been changed, the first CPLD decoding and verifying a firmware code that is received from the BMC, and updating the firmware code thus decoded and verified to the flash memory.

A method to be implemented by the server includes steps of: during a power-on self-test, determining whether a storage device is communicatively connected to the server; when it is determined that a storage device is communicatively connected to the server, determining whether the storage device stores a script file having a preset filename; and when it is determined that the storage device stores a script file having the preset filename, performing a process of modifying the BIOS based on the script file.

A boot method for an embedded system is provided. The embedded system includes two mainboards each provided with a baseboard management controller (BMC), a non-volatile memory unit and a network adapter. When the embedded system is turned on, each of the BMCs performs a boot procedure, and then loads an operating system (OS) image file from a corresponding non-volatile memory unit to execute an operating system. When one BMC fails to load the OS image file or to execute the operating system, the BMC causes the corresponding network adapter to communicate with the other network adapter to acquire the OS image file from the non-volatile memory unit on the other mainboard, so as to replace the OS image file in the corresponding non-volatile memory unit, and directly loads the OS image thus acquired to execute the operating system.
