A fall protection compliance system includes a fall limiting device connected to an anchor. The fall limiting device comprises a connection device and a sensor system associated with the connection device. The sensor system is configured to determine whether a connector is connected to the connection device and to transmit a signal based on detecting that the connector is connected to the connection device, where operation of a machine associated with the anchor is controlled based on the signal.

Systems and methods are provided for an open path gas detection system having a receiver with an optical sensor configured to continuously capture optical image data. The field of view of the optical sensor can include the path of a beam of focused light received by a light sensor of the receiver. The receiver can be configured to receive and temporarily store the optical image data in a memory buffer, and then transfer the optical image data to a persistent memory area upon receipt of a transfer command. A transfer command may be provided in various situations, such as when requested by a receiver, when a predefined object of interest is identified in the optical image data, or when a blockage occurs and light sensor is no longer receiving the beam of focused light.

A fall arrest device ( 10 ) includes a drum ( 1 ) configured to have a safety line ( 2 ) wound thereon, a speed responsive engagement assembly ( 3, 4, 6 ) arranged to inhibit rotation of the drum ( 1 ) above a predetermined rotational speed, and a traveller ( 30 ) configured to move in response to rotation of the drum ( 1 ). The traveller ( 30 ) is configured to activate the speed responsive engagement assembly ( 3, 4, 6 ) when a predetermined length of safety line has been paid out. This allows a user to be restrained from the edge of a worksite or other location where a fall may occur.

Systems and methods are provided for a fall limiting device. An embodiment includes a housing and a rotatable drum comprising an axle and two side portions, said rotatable drum comprising a single contiguous material piece. A retractable member is held, at least in part, within the housing via winding around the rotatable drum within the two side portions.

Systems and methods are provided for a tensioning device configured for increasing tension in a line. A system may include a rotating member configured to support a line, the rotating member being configured to rotate around a shaft. A locking member is configured to limit movement of the line when the line is supported by the rotating member. A tensioning handle is configured to have a closed position and an open position, where the tensioning handle is disengaged from the shaft when in a closed position, and where the tensioning handle is configured to be engaged with the shaft when the tensioning handle is in an open position.

A turnbuckle device for tensioning a safety line includes a body having a pair of opposing ends, with each end having a threaded bore. The turnbuckle device further includes a pair of connectors, with each connector having a threaded shaft configured for being received in the threaded bore of one of the pair of opposing ends of the body. The turnbuckle device further includes a handle connected to the body. The handle is movable between a stowed position and an operational position. In the operational position, the handle is configured for facilitating rotation of the body about a longitudinal axis of the body.

A breathing apparatus includes a tank containing pressurized breathing gas, a regulator having an inlet connected to the tank, an outlet for providing breathing gas to a user, and a valve configured for controlling a flow of breathing gas between the inlet and the outlet. A facepiece includes a first port for connecting with the outlet of the regulator, a second port adapted to be connected to an air purifying system, and an exhalation valve. A pneumatic pressure adjustment assembly is in operative connection with the exhalation valve, and has a first pneumatic connection in operative connection with a second pneumatic connection in the regulator. The pneumatic pressure adjustment assembly is operable to adjust the internal facepiece pressure for opening the exhalation valve based on whether breathing gas is delivered to the pneumatic pressure adjustment assembly. An alignment mechanism is provided for aligning the regulator with the facepiece.

A safety helmet includes an outer shell configured for surrounding a head of a user, and an infrared reflective layer disposed in an interior of the outer shell. The infrared reflective layer is configured for reflecting at a least a portion of incident infrared radiation transmitted through the outer shell. The infrared reflective layer has infrared reflectivity of at least 40%. A method of manufacturing a safety helmet with an infrared reflective layer is also disclosed. The method may further produce a safety helmet having an evaporative cooling pad positioned within a cavity defined by the inner surface of the outer shell.

A device comprises a safety helmet, which comprises an outer shell configured for surrounding a head of a wearer, as well as an electrically conductive layer disposed in an interior of the outer shell. The device further comprises an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection component. This ESD component is positioned in at least a portion of a cavity defined by the interior of the outer shell of the safety helmet. This ESD protection component comprises of a first portion configured to be in contact with the electrically conductive layer of the safety helmet, as well as a second portion configured to be in contact with the wearer. The ESD protection component is configured to provide a path for electric current to flow between the electrically conductive layer and the wearer of the helmet. The ESD component may also be removable, or integrated into a safety harness, which is also disclosed herein.
