An exercise apparatus includes a motor; a cable coupled to the motor; an exercise attachment coupled to the cable, wherein the motor is operable to exert force on the exercise attachment via the cable; a display screen; and a controller. The controller is programmed to determine, based on feedback from the motor indicating detected movement of the exercise attachment, an amount of propulsion provided by a user. The controller is programmed to simulate, based on a slope of a virtual environment and the amount of propulsion provided by the user, a movement of a character in a skiing setting. The controller is programmed to generate a visualization of the virtual environment including the movement of the character, and cause the display screen to display the visualization.

An exercise apparatus includes a motor, a cable coupled to the motor, an exercise attachment coupled to the cable such that the motor is operable to exert force on the exercise attachment via the cable, a display screen, and a controller. The controller is programmed to control the motor based on simulated progress through a virtual environment, determine a beam direction based on a cranial orientation of the user of the exercise apparatus, generate a graphical visualization of the virtual environment by casting a virtual light beam along the beam direction, and cause the display screen to display the visualization.

Exercise equipment includes a motor, a cable coupled to the motor such that the motor is operable to create a tension in the cable, a sensor arranged to measure a parameter affected by tapping of a foot of a user of the exercise equipment, and control circuitry programmed to modify operation of the motor in response to detecting a pattern in the parameter as measured by the sensor.

An exercise apparatus includes a motor, a cable coupled to the motor, an exercise attachment coupled to the cable such that the motor is operable to exert force on the exercise attachment via the cable, a display screen, and a controller. The controller is programmed to control the motor based on simulated progress through a virtual environment, determine a beam direction based on a cranial orientation of the user of the exercise apparatus, generate a graphical visualization of the virtual environment by casting a virtual light beam along the beam direction, and cause the display screen to display the visualization.

A control system for simulating flywheel training includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is programmed to obtain sensor data indicating movement of an end effector of fitness equipment. The processing circuitry is also programmed to operate an electric motor of the fitness equipment, based on the movement of the end effector, to exert a force on the end effector. The force on the end effector is determined based on a result of a physics-based simulation of a virtual flywheel in order to provide a flywheel training experience for a user without requiring a flywheel physically coupled to the end effector.

A paddling simulator includes a bar, a cable attached to the bar, a motor operationally coupled to the cable such that the motor can apply a force to the cable, and a controller configured to control the motor to generate a first tension in the cable during a propulsion phase of a paddling stroke and a second tension in the cable during a recovery phase of the paddling stroke.

An exercise bench includes a base, a slidable seat coupled to and slidable along the base, and a removable pad positionable on frame. When the removable pad is positioned on the frame, the removable pad prevents movement of the slidable seat along the base and provides a static bench surface configured to support a user during a strength training exercise.

A bench assembly includes a bench surface configured to support a user and a support structure coupled to the bench surface and comprising a plurality of pivot points. Pivoting of the support structure at the plurality of pivot points provides for movement of the bench surface between a deployed orientation in which the bench surface is positioned for use during performance of a first exercise and a stowed orientation different from the deployed orientation in which the bench assembly is displaced from the deployed orientation to enable performance of a second exercise without using the bench assembly.

A strength training apparatus includes a rack configured to hold a bar between exercises performed using the bar, at least one light source coupled to the rack, and a controller communicable with the light sources. The controller is programmed to determine a desired range of motion for a current exercise and control the at least one light source to display an illumination pattern based on the desired range of motion.

A reformer includes a base having a longitudinal direction, a carriage coupled to the base and moveable relative to the base in the longitudinal direction, and an actuator coupled to the carriage and the base such that the actuator is arranged to exert a force between the carriage and the base. The force moves the carriage relative to the base in the longitudinal direction or resists movement of the carriage relative to the base in the longitudinal direction.
