A pump health monitoring system is provided. Such a system includes one or a plurality of data capture devices that together collect a multiple variable data set relating to a device being monitored such as a water pump device for a pool or spa and/or an underwater submerged pump device. A programmable processor receives the multiple variable data set, retrieves a set of processing rules that are specific to the identity of the pump and processes the operating details with the set of processing rules to identify a current operational status or health status of the device.

A variable speed pumping system coupled to a fluid circuit of an aquatic application is provided. The variable speed pumping system includes a pump having a motor, a variable speed drive in electrical communication with the motor, a pump housing designed to substantially enclose the motor and the variable speed drive, an onboard controller coupled to the variable speed drive, and an electrical communication assembly in communication with the onboard controller. The electrical communication assembly includes an IO expansion module. A plurality of pool pad devices is communicatively coupled to the onboard controller, and an external sensing device is communicatively coupled to the onboard controller. The onboard controller is configured to transmit instructions to control the plurality of pool pad devices, receive data from the external sensing device, and transmit the received data to one of a server or a remote user device.

A system and methods of remotely monitoring and controlling a pool controller for a pool or a spa via one or more remote computing devices is provided. In some embodiments, a remote user can be provided with information about the pool or the spa. The remote user is provided with an ability to remotely optimize a performance of the pool or the spa, including remotely adjusting a chemistry of the pool or the spa, remotely activating a heater of the pool or the spa, and/or remotely activating a pump of the pool or the spa.

A system and a method are provided for automatically discovering one or more pool devices of a connected aquatic system. The one or more pool devices can be provided in a form of one or more secondary panels and one or more pool components. A primary panel can broadcast a discovery message to identify the one or more secondary panels and/or the one or more pool components connected to the primary panel of the connected aquatic system. An identification response is generated and transmitted from the one or more secondary panels and/or the one or more pool components in response to the discovery message from the primary panel. The primary panel can receive and process the identification response and update a discovery status for each of the one or more secondary panels or the one or more pool components based on the identification response.

Apparatuses and methods for filter detection are provided. A filter detection system includes a filter for a pump, the filter having a filter element, and an identification element associated with the filter. A controller is designed to detect the identification element, determine a filter characteristic based on the identification element, determine a remaining lifetime period of the filter element based on the filter characteristic and a runtime of the pump, and provide an alert indicating the remaining lifetime period of the filter element.

A system and a method for performing an automated winterization process for a swimming pool or spa are provided. A temperature sensor collects a sensed temperature value, which is transmitted and processed by a control system of a connected aquatic system. Based on the sensed temperature value, the swimming pool or spa control system executes the automated winterization process for the swimming pool or spa. The automated winterization process includes displacing water with air using an air-moving device in a first loop path and a second loop path using one or more actuated automatic valves.

A method of operating a variable speed pumping system. The method includes measuring a first power consumption value of a pool pump at a first speed, estimating a first total dynamic head value at the first speed, measuring a second power consumption value of the pool pump at a second speed, estimating a second total dynamic head value at the second speed, and generating a system friction curve based on the first total dynamic head value and the second total dynamic head value. The method also includes categorizing the variable speed pumping system into a pumping system category based on the system friction curve and recommending a modification to the variable speed pumping system based on the pumping category.

A system for analyzing the water quality of a water sample is provided. The system includes an inlet designed to deliver the water sample to a photometric analyzer, a chemical reagent system downstream of the inlet and upstream of the photometric analyzer, and a controller. The chemical reagent system is designed to inject one or more reagents into the water sample. The photometric analyzer comprises a vial designed to contain the water sample, at least one light source designed to emit light toward a first side of the vial, and at least one light detector designed to detect the emitted light on a second side of the vial. The controller is configured to adjust a dosage of the one or more reagents injected into the water sample, receive data from the at least one light detector, and analyze the water quality of the water sample based on the received data.

A system and a method for automatically discovering one or more pool devices of a connected aquatic system. The one or more pool devices include one or more secondary panels and one or more pool components. A primary panel can broadcast a discovery message to identify the one or more secondary panels and/or the one or more pool components connected to the primary panel of the connected aquatic system. An identification response is generated and transmitted from the one or more secondary panels and/or the one or more pool components in response to the discovery message from the primary panel. The primary panel can receive and process the identification response and update a discovery status for each of the one or more secondary panels or the one or more pool components based on the identification response.

An apparatus and method for filter detection are provided. The filter detection system includes a filter provided in the form of a filter element, a housing surrounding the filter element, and an identification element. A controller is designed to detect the identification element, determine a filter characteristic based on the identification element, determine a remaining lifetime period of the filter element based on the filter characteristic, and provide an alert indicating the remaining lifetime period of the filter element.
