A pump comprising a check valve, which check valve comprises: an axially extending valve bore defined within a pump body of the pump and having an inner surface, a seat member defining an axially extending valve channel and having a mounting portion being press-fitted into the valve bore so that it engages the inner surface and a seat portion disposed proximal with respect to the mounting portion, the seat portion defining a seat surface around a proximal opening of the valve channel, wherein a pilot radius, which is a maximum radius of the seat portion, is at least 95% but less than 100% of valve-bore radius of the valve bore so that the seat portion is out of contact with the inner surface, and a valve member movable with respect to the seat member and engaging the seat surface in a closed position.

A fuel pump comprising a valve assembly. The valve assembly comprises a valve member defining a valve axis, and an electromagnetically controlled armature assembly configured to reciprocate linearly along the valve axis within an armature chamber of the fuel pump. The fuel pump further comprises a spring configured to engage a first side of the armature assembly to provide a spring force acting in a first direction along the valve axis. The fuel pump further comprises a lift stop provided on a floor surface of the armature chamber and configured to engage a second side of the armature assembly to limit movement of the armature assembly in the first direction. The armature assembly comprises an armature body fixed to an armature carrier. The armature carrier is fixed to the valve member.

A fuel system for supplying gaseous fuel to an onboard power plant of a vehicle, the fuel system comprising at least a first tank configured to receive pressurised gaseous fuel for supply to the power plant, in use; a source of auxiliary control fluid for supply to the first tank; and a valve arrangement which is operable to control the supply of auxiliary control fluid to the first tank so as to control the discharge of the gaseous fuel from the first tank; wherein the first tank includes a movable separation element for separating the auxiliary control fluid from the gaseous fuel within the first tank.

A method of operating a hydrogen internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder with an intake valve and a direct injector for injecting hydrogen fuel directly into the cylinder. The method comprises performing a plurality of hydrogen fuel injections before an ignition during an engine cycle, wherein a first injection, with a first injection amount m 1 and a first injection time t 1 as first injection parameters, is performed before the intake valve is closed and a second injection, with a second injection amount m 2 and a second injection time t 2 as second injection parameters, is performed by the direct injector after the intake valve has been closed and before an ignition is performed. The method further comprises performing an adjustment process.

A valve assembly for a fuel pump for a fuel system, the fuel pump comprising a pump chamber and the valve assembly comprising a solenoid winding; and an electromagnetically controlled armature operable under the influence of an electromagnetic field generated by applying a current to the solenoid winding. The armature is coupled to a valve member cooperable with a valve seat to control fuel flow, and the armature is movable within an armature bore and is exposed to fuel within an armature chamber defined within the armature bore. The valve assembly includes a clearance defined between the armature and the armature bore which defines a variable restriction to the fuel flow, whereby during armature movement in use the fuel is displaced from the armature chamber through the variable restriction so that the speed of movement of the armature is reduced as the armature moves further into the armature chamber.

A lubricant dosing device for a gaseous fuel delivery system of an internal combustion engine, in particular a hydrogen engine, includes a body having therein a pumping bore extending along a pumping axis and defining, at an end, a pumping chamber which volume is varied by a piston reciprocating in the pumping bore. An inlet valve assembly is arranged in an inlet section. An outlet section includes an outlet valve assembly to control the discharge of pressurized lubricant fluid from the pumping chamber. The outlet valve assembly is configured as a check-valve with an outlet valve seat and an outlet valve member downstream thereof. The outlet valve member includes a sealing surface adapted to cooperate with the outlet valve seat the sealing surface being formed of or coated with a resilient polymer.

A hydrogen regulation module for a hydrogen internal combustion engine includes a common body that defines therein a gas flow path for a hydrogen stream, the gas flow path extending from an inlet port to an outlet port the common body integrating: a shut off valve to selectively open or close the flow of hydrogen through the gas flow path; a pressure regulating valve configured to regulate the pressure of the hydrogen stream towards the outlet; a purge valve configured to allow purging the gas flow path downstream of the shut off valve; a first pressure relief valve in fluid communication with the gas flow path downstream of the shut off valve and of the pressure regulating valve; and a filter unit to retain particles beyond a predetermined particle size, arranged upstream of the shut off valve and pressure regulating valve. A temperature sensor and a pressure sensor on the hydrogen stream are upstream of the shut off valve and of the pressure regulating valve.

An injector and rail assembly for a common rail fuel injection system comprises a fuel injector comprising a head for receiving fuel and a neck region for supporting the head end, a common rail housing defining a reservoir volume for storing fuel at high pressure and including a stem defining a passage for delivering high pressure fuel from the reservoir volume to the head end of the fuel injector, the stem including a threaded portion, and an adaptable mounting arrangement for sealingly mounting the fuel injector to the stem of the common rail housing. The adaptable mounting arrangement comprises a primary nut mounted on the threaded portion of the stem and an annular seal being located on the stem, the primary nut having an internal channel and the head of the fuel injector being received within the internal channel.

A fuel injector of a fuel injection system for delivering gaseous fuel to an internal combustion engine comprises: an injector nozzle having a valve needle that is movable within a bore of the injector nozzle; a needle control valve; a first fluid supply network for conveying the control fluid from a first injector inlet to an inlet of the needle control valve; a second fluid supply network for conveying the gaseous fuel from a second injector inlet to a delivery chamber, defined around the valve needle in the bore of the injector nozzle, for injection into the engine; and one or more sealant chambers for sealing respective leakage paths of the second fluid supply network, each leakage path extending between respective adjacent bodies of the fuel injector and the respective sealant chamber being defined at interfacing surfaces of those bodies to enclose that leakage path.
