A system and method of identifying and tracking objects comprises registering an identity of a person who visits an area designated for holding objects, capturing an image of the area designated for holding objects, submitting a version of the image to a deep neural network trained to detect and recognize objects in images like those objects held in the designated area, detecting an object in the version of the image, associating the registered identity of the person with the detected object, retraining the deep neural network using the version of the image if the deep neural network is unable to recognize the detected object, and tracking a location of the detected object while the detected object is in the area designated for holding objects.

A luggage tag includes an electronic ink display screen affixed to a surface of the luggage tag. Tag memory of the tag stores a unique identifier. An antenna receives an electromagnetic signal. Circuitry of the tag captures energy and acquires data from the electromagnetic signal received by the antenna and powers the electronic ink display with the captured energy. A processor receives the data acquired by the circuitry from the electromagnetic signal and produces an image on the electronic ink display using the acquired data if the acquired data includes a match to the unique identifier stored in the memory.

A method for near field communication (NFC) wireless connectivity, comprising receiving, by an electronic device from a mobile device, an NFC command; issuing, by the electronic device to the mobile device, an NFC response including an incomplete status code to trigger a polling operation by the mobile device; issuing, by the electronic device to the mobile device, the incomplete status code during an execution of the NFC command; and issuing, by the electronic device to the mobile device, a response to the NFC command when the electronic device completes the execution of the NFC command.

An electronic tag comprises a body housing a wireless radiofrequency (RF) receiver and a processor that is in communication with the wireless RF receiver. The body has an opening therein. The opening leads to a channel in the body sized to receive a section of a strap or similar mechanical fastener. The body has a latch or similar means for clasping this strap. The latch is coupled to the body to move between a closed position and an open position. An underside of the latch has a tensioning arm attached thereto. The tensioning arm presses against the strap and urging the strap forward into the channel when the latch is moved toward the closed position and disengaging from the strap when the latch is moved into the open position. The latch locks the strap in place when in the closed position.

A package management system comprises a slot including a pair of opposing spaced-apart planar surfaces on a base, and having a transmitter that generates an electromagnetic signal and a receiver in a path of the electromagnetic signal emitted by the transmitter. The system generates a signal indicative of whether the receiver senses the electromagnetic signal emitted by the transmitter. A control unit is in communication with the receiver and determine from the signal produced by each receiver of the given slot whether that receiver senses the electromagnetic signal. The processor considers the given slot to be empty if the signal produced by the receiver of indicates that the receiver senses the electromagnetic signal and considers the item to be present in the given slot if the signal produced by the receiver of the given slot indicates that a strength of the electromagnetic signal is below a predetermined threshold.

A computer vision system for automatic identification, tracking and management of inventory and/or assets, wherein: the computer vision system is programmed with predetermined and configurable image data conditions that identify and capture certain types of movement; the computer vision system is programmed to constantly capture and process image data from one or more sets of sensors to detect the image data conditions; the computer vision system is programmed to trigger the process of identifying all objects and extracting label information from objects present in a field of view of the system if the image data conditions are fulfilled; the computer vision system processes the image data with one or more object detection algorithms and label detection algorithms and generate correspondences between objects and labels identified; and the computer vision system running change detection algorithms and semantic analysis to detect if any object was moved, removed, occluded and if any new objects were added in to the system.

An electronic tag coupled to a piece of luggage comprising a computer processor, a memory in communication with the computer processor, the memory storing inertial data; and at least one sensor that captures the inertial data of the motion of the luggage in response to an external stimuli and outputs the inertial data to the memory, wherein the computer processor determines a mass of the luggage from the captured inertial data.

A device, system, and method for dimensioning objects comprise capturing, by an optical sensor of each of one or more mobile devices, one or more images of an area containing an object; estimating the three-dimensional representation of the captured images using depth estimation techniques; identifying the object within the captured images; and calculating dimensions of the object based on the three-dimensional representation.
