An AXR headset may be used for remote applications on the battlefield for warfighters permits better target acquisition and visualization system comprising an AXR headset and a digital sight capable of being mounted on a weapon, the digital sight in communication with the AXR headset. The digital sight may be an existing weapon sight with an additional digital camera added, or the digital sight may be a sighting module of a digital nature capable of sending target information to the AXR headset.

An apparatus for obtaining an image of a retina is described herein. The apparatus includes an optical relay that defines an optical path and is configured to relay an image of the iris along the optical path to a pupil, a shutter is disposed at the pupil and configured to define at least a first shutter aperture for control of light transmission through the pupil position, a tube lens disposed to direct light from the shutter aperture to an image sensor, and a prismatic input port disposed between the shutter and the tube lens and configured to combine, onto the optical path, light from the relay with light conveyed along a second light path that is orthogonal to the optical path.

A laparoscopic imaging apparatus is described herein. The laparoscopic imaging apparatus includes a shaft having a proximal end opposite a distal end, wherein the proximal end is configured for attachment to an actuator, and the distal end is configured for attachment of a laparoscopic tool and for insertion into patient anatomy. The laparoscopic tool pivots on a first gimbal apparatus that is actuable from the actuator at the proximal end of the shaft, to rotate the laparoscopic tool about a longitudinal axis of the shaft and, further, to rotate the laparoscopic tool about at least a second axis that is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis.

An augmented reality (AXR) visualization system is described herein. The AXR visualization system includes an AXR headset to be worn by a user, a display monitor positioned in view of the user and a support arm system including a first support arm and a second support arm. The first and second support arms are orientated such that the display monitor is visible to the user between the first and second support arms. A 3D digital viewport coupled to the first support arm. A 3D digital microscope coupled to the second support arm. A computer system including a processor programmed to receive and process images from the 3D digital microscope and display the processed images on the 3D digital viewport, the AXR headset, and the display monitor.

A wearable image manipulation system is described herein. The wearable image manipulation system includes a camera input system, an image projection system, where the image projection system is capable of being worn by a user, and a processor in communication with the camera input system and the image projection system such that the processor is capable of receiving an image from the camera input system, modifying the image to produce a modified image, and displaying the modified image on the image projection system. The camera input system may comprise a contact lens with a camera mounted thereon. Additionally or alternately, the system may be capable of tracking a user's eye movement to accurately capture where the user is looking with the camera input system.

A lightfield imaging system is described herein. The lightfield imaging system includes a display device for displaying three-dimensional (3D) video images of a volume of interest and a lightfield microscope assembly. The lightfield microscope assembly includes a microscope housing, a Multiple Angle Capture (MAC) sensor array including a plurality of sensors mounted to the microscope housing, an objective lens assembly mounted to the microscope housing and configured to direct light rays from a volume of interest to each of the sensors, and a microscope controller coupled to the display device and the sensors. The microscope controller includes a memory device for storing computer-executable instructions thereon and one or more processors for executing the computer-executable instructions for performing an algorithm for rendering 3D video images of the volume of interest onto the display device.

An endoscopy cannula assembly is described herein. The endoscopy cannula assembly includes a cannula extending along a longitudinal axis and a 3D imaging system positioned within the cannula. The 3D imaging system includes a pair of imaging modules orientated in an opposing mirrored relationship along the longitudinal axis. Each imaging module includes a camera sensor orientated along a first optical axis and an optical engine configured to receive light rays through an opening defined along a sidewall of the cannula along a second optical axis and direct the received light rays along the first optical axis towards the camera sensor.

An extended reality (XR) system is described herein. The XR system includes a display system mounted to the headset for displaying a display screen including computer-generated images thereon, and a controller that includes one or more processors programmed to execute an algorithm for operating in an optical character recognition (OCR) mode to display a text selection screen by generating an image distortion zone within the text selection screen associated with a non-viewable boundary and modifying received video images to adjust a viewable image attribute of a portion of the received video images displayed within the image distortion zone, and operating in the scrolling text mode to display a text display screen by generating machine-readable text OCR and modifying the generating machine-readable text using a lightweight language model for text correction.
