A mounting system selectively engageable to a panel projection extending from a metal panel defining a surface of a building. The mounting system comprises a mounting device with a body with a wall. First and second legs extend from the wall and are flexible with respect to the wall. The first leg comprises a first aperture that is unthreaded and which has a first interior diameter. The second leg comprises a second aperture which has a second interior diameter that is less than the first interior diameter. The second aperture may optionally be threaded. The mounting system further comprises a clamping fastener with a shaft that may extend into the first aperture and out of the second aperture. The clamping fastener may be tightened to draw the first and second legs together to engage the panel projection and removably secure the mounting device to the panel projection.

A clip for electrically bonding a pair of adjacently-disposed metal panels is disclosed. One embodiment entails such a clip ( 104 ) including a first clip member ( 112 ) and an oppositely disposed second clip member ( 116 ). The surface ( 114 ) of the first clip member ( 112 ) that faces the second clip member ( 116 ) includes at least one grounding projection ( 128 ), while the surface ( 118 ) of the second clip member ( 116 ) that faces the first clip member ( 112 ) also includes at least one grounding projection ( 128 ). The clip ( 104 ) may be installed on a standing seam ( 102 ) of a panel assembly ( 100 ), with its first clip member ( 112 ) engaging one of the metal panels 82 ″ that define this stand seam ( 102 ) and with its second clip member ( 116 ) engaging the other of the metal panels 82 ″ that define this same standing seam ( 102 ).

A mounting assembly for use in mid-grab and/or edge-grab applications may include a clamp secured to a stanchion by a clamp fastener. The mounting assembly may also include a mounting plate and a base plate that may be secured to a mounting device by the stanchion. The mounting assembly may be used, for example, to secure photovoltaic modules (or other devices or structures) of varying heights to a roof or other building surface and to provide increased lift-off resistance.

A mounting assembly for use in mid-grab and/or edge-grab applications may include a clamp secured to a stanchion by a clamp fastener. The mounting assembly may also include a mounting plate and a base plate that may be secured to a mounting device by the stanchion. The mounting assembly may be used, for example, to secure photovoltaic modules (or other devices or structures) of varying heights to a roof or other building surface and to provide increased lift-off resistance.

A mounting device or clamp is provided that can be secured to a roof joint without damaging the roof joint. Two roof panels can be joined at a roof joint that extends away from the roof. The clamp has a body with a slot to receive the roof joint. An insert of the clamp is rotatable relative to the body from a first position to a second position. The clamp body can be positioned over the roof joint, and the insert can rotate or pivot from the first position to the second position relative to the body to secure the clamp to the roof joint. In one embodiment, a body of the clamp has a first arm that is concave and the insert has a concave portion to engage the roof joint. Alternatively, in another embodiment, the insert can be connected to the clamp body such that either a first projection or a second projection of the insert faces a roof joint.

A mounting device for a metal panel includes a body and an insert. A fastener engages the body and/or the insert to secure the body and the insert together. The body sits on a panel projection of the metal panel and the insert is positioned within the panel projection when the mounting device is installed on the panel projection. Pivoting or rotating the insert relative to the body (i.e., during coupling via the fastener) via engagement of a notch in the body by a protrusion on the insert causes the body and the insert to be secured to the panel projection. A throat of the body is contoured to conform to multiple different configurations of the panel projection. Additional structure is couplable to the panel projection via an aperture on the mounting device, after the mounting device is installed on the panel projection.

A system to connect a structure, such as a photovoltaic module, to a rib of a metal panel of a building surface. The system includes a torque actuated rail assembly comprises a lag clip or a lag foot and a rail. The lag clip or lag foot includes a lag catch and an aperture to receive a fastener to selectively couple the lag clip or lag foot to the rib. The rail includes a hook. When the rail is in a first configuration, the rail is disengaged from the lag clip or lag foot. When a force is applied to the rail, it transitions to a second configuration in which the hook is coupled to the catch and the rail is engaged to the lag clip or lag foot.

A mounting device or bracket for paneled building surfaces is disclosed. The mounting bracket includes an upper wall in the form of a flat surface for supporting various types of attachments. An elongated mounting slot extends through the upper wall, and the mounting bracket includes an elongated nut receptacle that is positioned below this elongated mounting slot. With an attachment being positioned on the upper wall, an attachment fastener may be directed through the attachment, then through the elongated mounting slot, and then may be threadably engaged with a nut that is positioned within and movable along the nut receptacle in its elongated dimension. The elongated configuration of the mounting slot and nut receptacle provides adjustability for the position of the attachment fastener relative to the mounting bracket, including after the mounting bracket has already been installed on the building surface.

A mounting system for a metal panel includes a mounting device couplable to a panel projection of a metal panel. The mounting system includes a crossmember that is couplable to the mounting device either directly via fasteners or indirectly via an adaptor. Where the mounting system includes the adaptor, the adaptor is couplable to the mounting device via a fastener. The adaptor and the crossmember have interlocking features that allow for the coupling of the adaptor to the crossmember at a location proximate to the mounting device. The mounting system optionally includes a clip that is configured to engage the crossmember via a second fastener. The clip and the crossmember have interlocking features that allow for the coupling of the clip to the crossmember at any location along the length of the crossmember. An extension is optionally usable to couple an additional crossmember to the crossmember.
