Biometric gallery management at crowded venues involves using mobile devices to ascertain the most proximate people to a station that performs biometric identification. A preliminary identification of those people may be generated that enables biometric data for those most proximate people to be obtained from a main gallery. A local gallery may be populated from the main gallery using the preliminary identification. Biometric identification may be attempted to be performed using the local gallery. This may enable the local gallery to be sufficiently small so as to increase speed and accuracy of biometric identification while ensuring that the most likely biometric data needed for biometric identifications is available in the local gallery since the associated people are those most proximate to the station that will perform the biometric identification.

In various implementations, a system captures one or more images of a person, detects a face in the one or more images, applies a reticle to a portion corresponding to the face wherein a first relationship between an edge of the reticle and the face is proportional to second relationship between the person and a capture volume, displays the one or images with the reticle, and adjusts the display for movement. In some implementations, a system captures one or more images of a person, detects a face, applies current alignment marks and goal alignment marks around a portion of the one or more images corresponding to the face based at least on pitch/roll/yaw of the face, displays the one or images with the current alignment marks and the goal alignment marks, and adjusts the display for movement.

A station device in a biometric pre-identification system uses identity to perform one or more actions. Identities are determined (such as via a backend) using biometric information. A biometric pre-identification device obtains biometric information and/or a digital representation thereof from a person approaching the station device. The biometric pre-identification device transmits such to the station device, facilitating the station to begin and/or perform various actions. The station device begins or performs the actions using the identity determined based on the biometric information before the person arrives at the station device.

A processing unit and a mobile identity information controlled financial account device may communicate. The processing unit receives at least one digital representation of a biometric, obtains identity information using the at least one digital representation of the biometric, and determines whether or not to transmit an authorization signal to the mobile identity information controlled financial account device that enables use of the mobile identity information controlled financial account device in at least one transaction involving at least one financial account. The mobile identity information controlled financial account device may be usable for the at least one transaction when the mobile identity information controlled financial account device receives the authorization signal. The processing unit may also receive a first digital representation of a biometric for a first person along with at least one permission to assign regarding the mobile identity information controlled financial account device for a second person.

In various embodiments, enhancements for low-touch biometric systems include obtaining winnowing information when a biometric probe unsuccessfully matches against a subset gallery. The winnowing information is used to obtain biometric data from an associated group of people and the biometric probe is then compared against the biometric data. If this also fails, identity information may be obtained and used to obtain a corresponding biometric template to match the biometric probe against. In some embodiments, enhancements for low-touch biometric systems determining a dominant by selecting the largest live face in an image then performing one or more actions using the dominant. Such one or more actions may include selecting the dominant for capture, performing exposure control and/or gain control on the dominant as opposed to the rest of an image, determining guidance to provide for biometric capture based at least on a position of the dominant, providing such guidance, etc.

A subset of the population of people is identified based on the application. A second gallery is derived from the first gallery by pulling the information for the subset of the population of people without pulling the information for the population of people not in the subset. Biometric identification (such as facial recognition) for the application may then be performed using the second gallery rather than the first gallery. In this way, the system is improved as less time is required for biometric identification, fewer device resources are used, and so on.

An electronic device stores a cache of a portion of the identity information and a part of the identification information. The electronic device receives user input, determines an identity by comparing the user input to the cached identification information (such as by comparing a received digital representation of a biometric with cached biometric identification information), and performs an action using information in the cached identity information that is associated with the identity. The electronic device may update the identity information stored by the identity system device based on the action.
