Apparatuses, methods, and systems for managing a connection of a wireless device to a satellite network are disclosed. One method includes maintaining, by a core network of the satellite network, a parameter list that includes at least an estimate of a location of the wireless device and an estimate of one or more satellite locations, estimating, by the core network, a probability of a mapping of a wireless connection between the wireless device and a base station supporting the satellite network based upon the parameter list, and initiating, by the core network, a procedure to communicate with the wireless device through the base station based on the estimated probability of the mapping of the wireless connection between the wireless device and the base station.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems of dynamic power assignment based on link qualities and total integrated transmission power are disclosed. One method includes determining the total integrated transmission power of a base station, wherein the total integrated transmission power is integrated over time and frequency, and wherein the total integrated transmission power is dependent on an available amount of power of a satellite linked to the base station, transmitting reference signals, wherein the reference signals are transmitted at a higher power level than data signals, receiving link quality characterization information from a plurality of wireless devices based on reception of the reference signals by the plurality of wireless devices through the satellite, and assigning a transmission power associated with each of the plurality of wireless devices based upon the received link quality characterization information and the total integrated transmission power over the threshold period of time.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems of delivering Mobile Terminated Short Message Service in a Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) are disclosed. One method includes receiving a mobile terminated forward short message request (TFR) from a short message service center (SMSC), wherein the TFR includes an SMS message and delivery information for a destination wireless device the delivery information associated with the TFR, comparing the delivery information with previously stored delivery information of a previously received TFR and determining whether the TFR includes a new SMS message or an expired SMS message, forwarding the TFR to the NTN core network when the delivery information is determined to be associated with a new SMS message, and discarding without forwarding subsequent retry TFRs received from the SMSC before receiving a mobile terminated forward short message answer from the NTN core network when the delivery information is determined to be associated with an expired SMS message.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for managing an interface of a satellite network between a wireless device and a service provider are disclosed. One method includes receiving through a satellite link, by a service gateway of the satellite network, a wireless device trigger message from the wireless device, wherein the satellite network includes a base station and a satellite core network, and performing, by the service gateway of the satellite network, session establishment of the wireless device with the service provider when receiving the wireless device trigger message, including modifying the wireless device trigger message to include additional data required by the service provider.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for communicating through a wireless link are disclosed. A method includes scheduling, by a server, communication between a base station and a plurality of user devices, receiving, by the base station, the scheduled communication, providing, to each user device, a data profile that includes a periodicity, an offset, and a carrier frequency based on the scheduled communication, receiving, by the base station, uplink wireless communication from each of the plurality of user devices according to the data profile of each of the user devices and according to the scheduled communication, and simultaneously broadcasting, by the base station, acknowledgements of reception of uplink wireless communication from each of the plurality of user devices.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for managing an operational state of a wireless device that connects to a satellite wireless network are disclosed. One method includes supporting, by a base station, a wireless connection of the wireless device through a satellite to the satellite wireless network, determining that the wireless device is in a dormant state based on an indication that the wireless device supports the dormant state and based on signaling attempts to the wireless device, controlling, by the base station, information wirelessly communicated to the wireless device based on whether the wireless device is in the dormant state, and buffering of information for the wireless device based on whether the wireless device is in the dormant state.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems of dynamic power assignment based on link qualities and total integrated transmission power are disclosed. One method includes determining the total integrated transmission power of a base station, wherein the total integrated transmission power is integrated over time and frequency, and wherein the total integrated transmission power is dependent on an available amount of power of a satellite linked to the base station, transmitting reference signals, wherein the reference signals are transmitted at a higher power level than data signals, receiving link quality characterization information from a plurality of wireless devices based on reception of the reference signals by the plurality of wireless devices through the satellite, and assigning a transmission power associated with each of the plurality of wireless devices based upon the received link quality characterization information and the total integrated transmission power over the threshold period of time.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for dynamically controlling a local buffer of a modem of a wireless device are disclosed. One method includes receiving transmission packets in the local buffer of the modem of the wireless device for wireless transmission to a receiving device, purging a transmission packet from the local buffer after receiving an acknowledgement of reception of the transmission packet from the receiving device, and requesting acknowledgement from the receiving device when a queue of the transmission packets within the local buffer exceeds a threshold level, wherein a time delay is introduced before the requesting of the acknowledgement, wherein the time delay is based at least on a propagation delay of the wireless transmission between the wireless device and the receiving device.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for managing a network demand for emergency services are disclosed. One method includes adaptively reserving, by a base station of a satellite network, reserved PRACH (physical random access channel) preambles for a plurality of reserved services, broadcasting, by the base station, the configuration, wherein a wireless device receives the reserved PRACH preambles configuration, wherein the wireless device selects a reserved service from the plurality of reserved services and transmits a PRACH preamble from the reserved preambles, and transmitting, by the base station, a message grant to the wireless device in response to the PRACH preamble, wherein the wireless device transmits to the base station a response that includes data for the selected reserved service and an identifier of the wireless device, in response to the message grant from the base station.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for operating a wireless satellite service are disclosed. One method includes maintaining, by a satellite service server, a database of an activation status of each of a plurality of subscriber devices as provided by a plurality of terrestrial service providers, receiving, by a satellite network, a request from a wireless device to access the wireless satellite service through a satellite link, wherein the satellite network is electronically connected to the satellite service server, querying, by the satellite network, the satellite service server to confirm whether the wireless device requesting access to the wireless satellite service is a subscriber device that is activated, providing, by the satellite service server, the activation status of the wireless device to the satellite network, and performing, by the satellite network, a wireless device attachment process with a one of the plurality terrestrial service providers based upon the activation status.
