An aspect of the present disclosure relates to an observation system including a control device that controls irradiation light with which different irradiation environments are irradiated, in which the control device includes a control unit that controls a light source device that generates the irradiation light, and an acquisition unit that acquires irradiation environment information regarding an irradiation environment of the irradiation light, and the control unit causes a display unit to display a first software key in a case where the irradiation environment information acquired by the acquisition unit includes an open field, and causes the display unit to display a second software key in a case where the irradiation environment information does not include an open field, a function corresponding to predetermined light emission is disabled in the first software key, and the function corresponding to the predetermined light emission is enabled in the second software key.

A medical control device includes a display controller configured to display, in a display device configured to display images, a medical image generated from an imaging signal generated by an imaging device configured to receive light coming from an observation target; and a brightness controller configured to control the brightness of the imaging signal in such a way that the display controller displays the medical image having a predetermined brightness. When the dynamic range of the display device is set to a second value that is greater than a first value, the brightness controller is configured to perform control to lower the brightness of the imaging signal as compared to the brightness of the imaging signal for displaying the medical image at the predetermined brightness when the dynamic range is set to the first value.

A medical control device includes: a captured image acquisition unit configured to acquire a captured image generated by an image sensor capturing a subject image introduced by an endoscope; a luminance calculation unit configured to calculate a luminance level of the subject image included in the captured image; and a dimming controller configured to control a light amount of irradiation light onto a subject and an electronic shutter of the image sensor based on the luminance level, and execute first dimming control of narrowing the electronic shutter before reducing the light amount as the luminance level increases.

A medical control device includes: a captured image acquisition unit configured to acquire a captured image generated by an image sensor capturing a subject image introduced by an endoscope; a luminance calculation unit configured to calculate a luminance level of the subject image included in the captured image; and a dimming controller configured to control a light amount of irradiation light onto a subject and an electronic shutter of the image sensor based on the luminance level, and execute first dimming control of narrowing the electronic shutter before reducing the light amount as the luminance level increases.

A light source device includes a first light source, a second light source, and a light source control unit. The first light source emits laser light. The second light source emits light. The light source control unit controls the operations of the first and second light sources. The light source control unit executes each of first switching control and second switching control on laser light which is applied to a subject after emitted from the first light source based on a time reference in accordance with a class specified by a laser standard indicating a safety standard for laser products. In the first switching control, a lighting state is switched from the first light source to the second light source. In the second switching control, the lighting state is switched from the second light source to the first light source.

A medical control device includes: a dimming control unit configured to control an operation of a light source device configured to emit first light and second light, and adjust light amounts of the first and the second light; and an imaging control unit configured to control an operation of an imaging device including at least one imaging element, irradiate an observation target with the first light to capture return light of the first light via the observation target to generate a first captured image, and irradiate the observation target with the second light to capture return light of the second light via the observation target to generate a second captured image. The imaging control unit is configured to execute changing an exposure period of the imaging element, and discarding image information generated by the imaging element according to light reception in a partial period of the exposure period.

A medical control device according to the present disclosure includes an image processing section adapted to generate a captured image on the basis of an electric signal generated by an imaging device that captures an image of a subject, and a light source control information generation section adapted to generate control information for controlling a light quantity distribution of illumination light, according to a brightness distribution of the captured image.
