The present invention relates to a novel vise that operates in both a threaded and unthreaded mode. The vise includes a fixed block, a movable head, a rod, a ratchet mechanism, a threaded mechanism and a toggle mechanism. In the threaded mode, the movable head may only be moved by rotating the rod. In the unthreaded mode, the movable head may only be moved by applying force to the movable head in the desired direction of movement.

A latch assembly and storage systems having a latch assembly are provided. In one embodiment, the latch assembly is coupled to a housing and a lid on the housing. The latch assembly includes a connecting ring having a first portion disposed within a guide track in the housing and a second portion coupled to the lid. The first portion can be configured to move from a first region of the guide track to a second region of the guide track in response to movement of the lid from the closed position to the open position, and a protrusion extending at least partially into the guide track is configured to retain the first portion within the second region of the guide track to thereby retain the lid in the open position. The lid can be moved from the open position to the closed position in response to a force applied to the lid sufficient to cause the protrusion to deflect and thereby allow the first portion of the connecting ring to move from the second region of the guide track to the first region of the guide track.

Portable structures are disclosed that include a housing having top, bottom, first side, and second side walls; a first mating element having a cleat and positioned on a first region between the bottom wall and the first sidewall, the cleat extending laterally outward from the first region; and a second mating element having an actuator and a cleat and positioned in a second region between the bottom wall and the second sidewall, the second mating element pivotally movable about a pivot axis extending longitudinally along the second region, and the second mating element biased to a first position in which the actuator is positioned against the second region and the cleat extends laterally outward from the second region, and movable to a second position in which the actuator is spaced laterally outward from the second region and the cleat is retracted laterally inward relative to the second region.

A laser tool comprises at least one laser emitter, a housing, and a support. The laser emitter is for emitting at least one laser beam from the tool. The housing supports and at least partially contains the laser emitter, and the housing and the laser emitter may comprise a laser unit. The support is external to the housing, for supporting the housing, and the support is adjustable for orienting the housing and thereby orienting and positioning the laser beam. The support preferably is a gimbal support, having at least two, preferably at least three, for example exactly three, non-parallel rotational axes, for adjusting the support to orient the housing and thereby orient the laser beam. A laser tool system may comprise two or more laser units and the support.
