Investigating the permeability and porosity of geological samples is a routine element of geological studies, and is of particular interest in the oil and gas industry. Core-flood experiments are commonly performed on rock samples to measure transport characteristics in the laboratory. This disclosure reports the design and implementation of a high resolution distributed pressure measurement system for core-flood experiments. A series of microfabricated pressure sensors can be embedded in bolts that are housed within the pressurized polymer sheath that encases a rock core. A feedthrough technology has been developed to provide lead transfer between the sensors and system electronics across a 230-bar pressure difference. The system has been successfully benchtop tested with fluids such as synthetic oil and/or gas. Pressure measurements were recorded over a dynamic range of 20 bar with a resolution as small as 0.3 mbar.

The method comprises providing at least one seismic source in a seismic source area and providing a plurality of seismic receivers in said seismic source area, said method comprising measuring a first type of ground vibrations induced in a subsurface of the area of interest by the at least one seismic source with the plurality of seismic receivers. A method for estimating a depth pressure and/or permeability profile of a geological formation having a well extending between a first end and a second end includes equipping the well with an inner tube defining an inner space and an annular space; performing a first well closing phase by injecting a second fluid having a higher viscosity than a first fluid in the well while extracting under a first constant pressure value; performing a second well closing phase by injecting the second fluid while extracting the first fluid under a second constant pressure value, different from the first constant pressure value; and estimating the depth pressure and/or permeability profile of the geological formation based on measurements performed during the first well closing phase and the second well closing phase.

A computer implemented method for analyzing a reservoir grid modeling a reservoir geological formation is provided in which the reservoir grid corresponds to a 3D grid of cells associated to respective values of at least one geological property. The method includes obtaining a 4D seismic image of the reservoir geological formation. A skeleton of the 4D seismic image is calculated, and the skeleton extends between at least one origin and a plurality of extremities. Each point of the skeleton is associated to a value of the at least one geological property of the reservoir grid. Flow time values are calculated for a fluid flowing from the origin to the extremities along the skeleton, based on the at least one geological property values associated to the points of the skeleton. The reservoir grid is calculated based on the flow time values.

The present invention relates to a method for determining drain configurations of wells in a field containing a hydrocarbon reservoir, said method comprising: receiving a first set of geological gridded models; receiving a set of criteria; estimating a plurality of weights, each weight being associated to a respective criterion among the plurality of criteria, based on a reference drain configuration comprised in the first received set of geological gridded models and the received set of criteria; receiving a second geological gridded model of the field; determining a drain configuration based on the received set of criteria and the plurality of estimated weights.

The present invention relates to a method for determining locations of wells in a field containing a hydrocarbon reservoir, said method comprising: receiving a first set of geological gridded models; receiving a set of criteria for positioning wells; receiving a plurality of reference well patterns associated to the first set of geological gridded models; estimating a plurality of weights, each weight being associated to a respective criterion among the plurality of criteria, based on the plurality of reference well patterns and the received set of criteria; receiving a second geological gridded model of the field; and determining locations of wells in the second geological gridded model based on the received set of criteria and the plurality of estimated weights.

The invention relates to a method of analyzing a rock sample, comprising:—placing a rock sample ( 2 ) containing a first fluid into a cell ( 1 );—feeding the cell ( 1 ) with at least one second fluid and withdrawing said second fluid from the cell ( 1 ), leaving the rock sample ( 2 ) immersed in the second fluid; and—measuring an amount of first fluid spontaneously released from the rock sample ( 2 ). The invention also relates to an apparatus adapted for implementing this method.

The invention notably relates to a computer-implemented method for processing a 4D seismic signal relative to a subsoil, the subsoil including a zone subject to extraction and/or injection, the method comprising: providing the 4D seismic signal; identifying a part of the 4D seismic signal corresponding to a zone of the subsoil distinct from the zone subject to extraction and/or injection; determining a noise model of the 4D seismic signal based on the identified part of the 4D seismic signal; and processing the 4D seismic signal based on the noise model. This improves the field of 4D seismic data processing.
