An occlusion device for a vent port of a sterilizing container, the sterilizing container having an access port, a door connected to the sterilizing container, the door moveable between an open position permitting passage through the access port to an interior of the sterilizing container and a closed position precluding passage through the access port, at least one of the sterilizing container and the door having a vent port, the occlusion device comprising a nonporous sheet sized to encompass and occlude the vent port of the sterilizing container, the nonporous sheet comprising a material that is resistant to punctures or tears.

Presented is a sterilizing container assembly and method for a sterling container having a sterilization configuration and a transportation configuration, the sterilizing container comprising a container having an access port, a door connected to the container, the door moveable between an open position permitting passage through the access port to an interior of the container and a closed position precluding passage through the access port, and at least one of the container and the door having a vent port, wherein a filter overlies the vent port in the sterilization configuration and forms a sealed interface with an adjacent portion of the at least one of the container and the door and wherein an occlusion device overlies the vent port in the transportation configuration and forms a sealed interface with an adjacent portion of the at least one of the container and the door.

An apparatus for presenting items to a floor loading sterilizer, the apparatus comprising, a sterilizable wheeled case cart, the sterilizable wheeled case cart comprising a top portion, and a plurality of sterilizable wheels fixedly coupled to a bottom portion of the sterilizable wheeled case cart able to freely rotate and support the sterilizable wheeled case cart, and, a sterilizing cabinet, the sterilizing cabinet integrated with the sterilizable wheeled case cart and comprising an interior, an access port, and a door moveable between an open position permitting passage through the access port to the interior of the sterilizing cabinet and a closed position precluding passage through the access port, at least one of the sterilizing cabinet and the door having a vent port and at least one filter overlying the vent port, the sterilizing cabinet in integrated form with the sterilizable wheeled case cart.

A method of verifying sterilization comprises performing a sterilization cycle on a sterilizing cabinet, opening the door with the first filter overlying the vent port by a single user being non-sterile and ungowned and examining the first filter, by the single user being non-sterile and ungowned, to verify the integrity of the sterilization cycle in the sterilizing device, determining if the integrity of the first filter is acceptable by the single user being non-sterile and ungowned, and removing, by the single user being sterile and gowned, through the access port at least one tray from the interior of the sterilizing cabinet if the integrity of the first filter is acceptable.

A sterilization packaging system for an object requiring sterilization in a sterilizer, the sterilization packaging system comprising a base having a support surface and a plurality of sides, the support surface configured to support an object requiring sterilization, a wrap sized to overlie the sides of the base and the object requiring sterilization, the wrap having a main body portion and a lower portion, a sealing interface between the lower portion of the wrap and the base, the sealing interface configured to form a continuous seal between the lower portion of the wrap and a first sealing surface, and a first drape moveable between an unfolded position and a folded position, wherein the first drape is sized to overlie at least a first portion of a support surface of the base in the folded position.

A rigid sterilization system for use in a sterilizer for the sterilization of objects requiring sterilization, the system comprising a base formed of a material adapted to withstand exposure to a sterilizing agent, the base having (i) a support surface having a portion configured to support the objects requiring sterilization, and (ii) a first sealing surface, a cover having a first vent port and a first filter overlying the first vent port, the cover comprising a rigid material configured to hold a selected shape, wherein the lower portion of the rigid cover is configured to form a sealed interface with the base, and a continuous seal between the first sealing surface of the base and the cover, the continuous seal forming a continuous sealed interface between the base and the cover.

A method of sterilizing comprises loading an item to be sterilized into an integrated sterilizing cabinet and sterilizable wheeled case cart, the sterilizing cabinet comprising an interior, the interior being sterilizable, rolling the integrated sterilizable wheeled case cart and sterilizing cabinet into the floor loading sterilizer, wherein rolling the integrated sterilizable wheeled case cart and sterilizing cabinet into the floor loading sterilizer is independent of a height adjustment of the sterilizing cabinet relative to the sterilizable wheeled case cart, exposing the integrated sterilizable wheeled case cart and sterilizing cabinet in the floor loading sterilizer to a sterilizing cycle, and rolling the integrated sterilizable wheeled case cart and sterilizing cabinet from the floor loading sterilizer.

The present invention comprises a sterilizing wrap system comprising a base having a support surface and a first sealing surface spaced from the support surface, the support surface supports at least one object requiring sterilization. A wrap is sized to engage the first sealing surface of the base to define a volume encompassing the support surface and the spaced first sealing surface of the base. A first seal maintains a sealed interface between the wrap and the first sealing surface.

A method of verifying sterilization comprises performing a sterilization cycle on a sterilizing cabinet, opening the door with the first filter overlying the vent port by a single user being non-sterile and ungowned and examining the first filter, by the single user being non-sterile and ungowned, to verify the integrity of the sterilization cycle in the sterilizing device, determining if the integrity of the first filter is acceptable by the single user being non-sterile and ungowned, and removing, by the single user being sterile and gowned, through the access port at least one tray from the interior of the sterilizing cabinet if the integrity of the first filter is acceptable.

A sterilization container for retaining surgical instruments in a sterilizer comprising a plurality of walls defining an interior volume sized to receive at least one instrument tray, least one of the walls defining a venting pass through area, and a filter occluding the venting passage area, wherein a ratio of the venting pass through area to the interior volume is at least 1 square inch:125 cubic inches.
