An additive supply system for a fire fighting mechanism comprises an additive supply line connecting an additive source to a fire fighting fluid line, the additive supply line being in fluid communication with an additive pump and a recirculating line; a balanced pressure valve capable of throttling the recirculating line; and a control means for controlling the additive pump based on one or more of a high pressure outputted by a high pressure sensor, a low pressure outputted by a low pressure sensor, an additive pump displacement outputted by an additive pump controller, a fire fighting fluid pressure outputted by a fire fighting fluid pressure sensor and an additive pressure outputted by an additive pressure sensor is disclosed. Methods of using the additive supply system are also disclosed.

A sprinkler button includes a body and a wall extending from the body. The body includes a ridge and one or more cavities defined by the ridge and extending into the body. The body defines a hollow chamber on an opposite side of the body from the one or more cavities. The wall includes one or more tabs.

A sprinkler includes a body including an internal passageway extending from an inlet to an orifice. The body can be made of a composite material, such as a polymeric material. The sprinkler can include a first frame arm extending from the body, a second frame arm extending from the body, and a connector member connecting the first frame arm with the second frame arm.

A system includes a manifold and a flow control valve. The flow control valve includes an inlet defining an inlet chamber, an outlet defining an outlet chamber, and a movable member positioned in a control chamber coupled with the inlet and the outlet. The manifold includes a valve actuator, an inlet port that connects with the inlet chamber, an outlet port that connects with the outlet chamber, and a control port that connects the valve actuator with the control chamber to cause the movable member to change from a sealed state that prevents fluid flow between the inlet and the outlet to an unsealed state that allows fluid flow between the inlet and the outlet responsive to operation of the valve actuator.

A pilot valve can include an inlet chamber, a diaphragm chamber coupled with the inlet chamber, a drain chamber coupled with the diaphragm chamber, a diaphragm, a pilot channel coupled with the inlet chamber, and an actuator in the pilot channel. The diaphragm can be movable between a closed position to prevent fluid flow between the inlet chamber and the drain chamber and an open position to allow fluid flow between the inlet chamber and the drain chamber. The actuator can selectively allow fluid flow out of the pilot channel through a port coupled with the pilot channel to movement of the diaphragm.

Systems and methods of ceiling-only fire protection of a storage structure are provided. The system can include a plurality of fluid distribution devices disposed in a grid pattern beneath a ceiling and above the storage structure. The plurality of fluid distribution devices can include a frame body, seal assembly and actuator. The system can include a fluid distribution system including network of pipes interconnecting the plurality of fluid distribution devices with a water supply. The system can include a plurality of detectors to monitor the storage structure for a fire. The system can include a controller coupled to the plurality of detectors to detect and locate the fire, and coupled to the plurality of fluid distribution devices to identify and control operation of a select number of the plurality of fluid distribution devices that define a discharge array above and about the fire.

A gasket includes a base extending circumferentially about a gasket axis, a central flange, a first arm, and a second arm. The first arm includes a first arm portion extending from the gasket base to a first radial axis and a second arm portion defining a first surface at a first angle and a second surface at a second angle, the second angle greater than the first angle. The second arm includes a third arm portion extending from the gasket base to a second radial axis that is perpendicular to the gasket axis and a fourth arm portion defining a third surface at a third angle and a fourth surface at a fourth angle, the fourth angle greater than the first angle, the fourth surface further from the third arm portion than the third surface.

Systems and apparatuses of a sprinkler frame having an upper section, a lower section, and a channel extending along a sprinkler axis are provided. The lower section can include apertures through the frame, a guide pin having a first end with a head, a second end, and a shaft extending therebetween. The shaft of the guide pin can translate in an axial direction of the sprinkler axis within the apertures of the sprinkler frame. The deflector can couple with the second end of the guide pin and can include a first side, second side, third side, and fourth side. The first side and the second side may be smaller than the third side and the fourth side and can include an end profile defining a first tine, second tine, third tine, and fourth tine separating a first slot, second slot, and third slot.

A sprinkler assembly includes a body defining an inlet, an outlet, and a fluid passage extending along a longitudinal axis between the inlet and the outlet. A guide pin aperture is defined by at least one of the body or a bushing coupled to the body. The sprinkler assembly further includes a deflector slidably coupled to the body. The deflector includes a deflector body coupled to a guide pin. The guide pin includes a shaft portion extending through the guide pin aperture and a shoulder that is wider than the shaft portion and configured to engage at least one of the body or the bushing to limit movement of the deflector body away from the body.

Fire protection system and methods for concealed spaces providing for effective fire protection over an effective depth range measuring from a minimum six inches up to a maximum that is greater than thirty-six inches. A combustible concealed space that includes an upper deck and a ceiling deck spaced about a longitudinal axis extending substantially parallel to the ceiling deck with a fire protection system having a firefighting fluid supply pipe and at least one automatic upright sprinkler coupled to the fluid supply pipe and positioned to define an effective depth range that measures from six inches to a maximum of at least sixty inches.
