VOLKSWAGEN AG

VOLKSWAGEN AG's patent strategy reveals a surprising shift away from core electric vehicle technologies, with Batteries & Fuel Cells, despite being 54.5% of its portfolio, experiencing a significant decline of -76.0% in 2024 and -66.7% in 2025, though showing a slight recovery so far in 2026 with a +50.0% YoY increase. This is further emphasized by the sharp decline in Electric Vehicle Propulsion, which saw a -100.0% YoY drop in 2025, suggesting a re-evaluation of its direct EV component development in favor of other areas like Separation Processes (Filtration, Distillation), which has seen a +100.0% YoY growth so far in 2026.
