A system for inserting a pharmaceutical cartridge into a delivery device is described. The cartridge can be inserted in an arbitrary orientation and the system reorients the cartridge to a locked orientation. For example, a driver applies a torque to the cartridge to cause the reorienting. The torque rotates the cartridge around an axis thereof until the cartridge reaches the locked orientation. When the cartridge reaches the locked orientation, an interference element on the cartridge interlocks with a complementary interference element on the delivery device to lock the cartridge in the locked orientation. Once the cartridge is locked in the second orientation, the torque causes discharge the pharmaceutical.

A liquid transfer device is described for mixing a medicament additive contained within a vial with an infusion liquid contained within an infusion liquid container to form a medicated infusion liquid. The liquid transfer device includes a trifurcated connector body defining a barrel at a first end thereof, an IV spike at a second end thereof and a vial adapter lumen with a vial adapter secured thereto at a third end thereof. A plunger having an IV port is slidably engaged with the barrel to form a syringe integrated with the device. The syringe enables the device to flush out the flow path between the IV port and the IV spike connected to the medicated infusion liquid, and any residual unmixed medicament additive therein, after combining the medicament additive with the infusion liquid.

A cartridge for positioning within a pharmaceutical delivery device is described. The cartridge has a housing with a light pipe section which acts as a light pipe having an input location, and a light diffusing section optically coupled to the light pipe. The light diffusing section extends beyond a plane defined by the housing.

A liquid transfer device is provided having a trifurcated body that includes a vial adapter at a first end configured to telescopically mount on the crown of an IV bottle to puncture a stopper in the crown with a cannula, an IV port extending from an opposing second end of the trifurcated body, and a needleless self-sealing port extending from a third end of the trifurcated body and configured to couple with the male connector of an additive transfer device. Methods of using the liquid transfer device with an IV bottle, additive transfer device, and an infusion set to prepare an infusion liquid for administration to a patient are also provided.

A method for visually indicating that a door of a drug delivery device is open is described. A closing force to move the door is received. Then, it is detected that the door is not closed. A biasing element pushes the door to a perceptibly open position with an opening force when the door reaches the last 30 degrees of rotation of toward closure or when the door reaches the last 30% of range of movement during the rotation of the door. The perceptibly open position of the door is indicated relative to a drug delivery device housing.

A closed-system liquid transfer device is used with each of an infusion liquid container containing an infusion liquid, a medicament supply containing a medicament, and an infusion set. The closed-system liquid transfer device includes first, second, and third connectors that respectively connect and resist removal from the infusion liquid container, the infusion set, and the medicament supply.

A liquid transfer device is provided for mixing a medicament additive contained within a vial with an infusion liquid contained within an infusion liquid container to form a medicated infusion liquid. An add-on for a self-injector is described. The add-on includes an adaptor having at a rigid and a bent fluid path. The adaptor is sized and fitted to sterilely couple the bent fluid path to a tip of a fluid reservoir. The add-on also includes a fastener sized and fitted to couple a body of the fluid reservoir to the self-injector. The internal diameter of the fastener is adjustable. The adaptor and the fastener couple to the self-injector to at least one of a plurality of reservoirs having different sizes and tip types. The self-injector can include a support plate with a plurality of attachment points. The fastener can be sized and fitted to couple to the body of the fluid reservoir and to at least one of the attachment points. A retention cantilever can releasably couple the at least one fastener to the support plate.

An injector device for medical use includes a needle, a barrel in fluid communication with the needle, and a plunger sealing the barrel's proximal end. The injector device further includes a needle cover, a housing with a channel, and an adhesive base for securing the injector to a patient's skin. The housing channel has openings for the barrel and needle. A handle and coupler mechanism facilitate the removal of the needle cover and adhesive cover from the adhesive base. An assembly method involves installing the barrel into the distal housing channel, ensuring fluid communication with the needle, sealing the barrel's proximal end with a plunger, and coupling the distal housing to a proximal housing. The handle is then pulled to remove the adhesive cover and needle cover from the adhesive base, preparing the injector for use.

A wearable pharmaceutical delivery device is disclosed including a compressed elastic power source and a cylindrical pharmaceutical reservoir. Optionally, the compressed power source is positioned along a bent path. Alternatively or additionally, the compressed power source may power discharge of the pharmaceutical. Alternatively or additionally, the compressed power source may power extension of an injection needle. In some embodiments, a tensile element may activate an indicator when delivery of the pharmaceutical is complete.
