Tamper-proofing and secure identity validation techniques in a transaction processing system and secure electronic payment techniques are disclosed. A tamper-proof transaction processing device is provided and comprises at least two different strength adhesives to secure parts of the device together and a housing comprising at least a first and second protective layer. An electronic component comprising a secure element chip storing unique information relating to the chip is located between the first and second protective layer in the housing. In another aspect, a transaction processing system includes a payment instrument that is configured to approve only negative value and/or zero value transaction requests. Another aspect provides an identity card checking system and method where the identity card is brought into proximity of a data processing device and identity information is displayed on the screen of the data processing device for the period of time while the card is in proximity.

The invention relates generally to the provisioning of payment instruments onto electronic devices such as a mobile telephone, tablet, laptop or wearable, and in particular to securely provisioning payment instrument for which authorisation for the provisioning must be provided by a payment instrument issuer. A first embodiment is provided in which data that is generated during module a transaction is received by an electronic device and transmitted controller from the electronic device to a server associated with an acquirer. The data received from the electronic device is compared to the data generated during the transaction and, if these match, provisioning is authorised. A second embodiment is provided in which a server associated with an acquirer generates an identification message that is separate from but based on a response message associated with a transaction, and provisioning is authorised or declined based on the identification message.

Methods and systems are disclosed for collecting and releasing virtual objects between disparate augmented reality environments. One method comprises receiving user selection to collect an object in a first environment displayed on a user device at a first time. A search request may then be transmitted to a content server from which a virtual object corresponding to the collected object is received in response. The virtual object may be stored in a user library associated with a user identifier of the user. When a second environment is displayed on the user device, the virtual object may be added to the second environment in response to receiving user selection to add the virtual object and determining that the user is associated with the user identifier.

Methods and Systems are disclosed for displaying objects between disparate devices connected to an electronic network. One method comprises detecting, by a multimedia device connected to an electronic network, an object in a multimedia stream; determining an identifier associated with the detected object; detecting a mobile device connected to the electronic network, the mobile device being a device other than the multimedia device; and generating a display of the detected object at the detected mobile device.

Methods and systems are disclosed for providing secure authentication in a virtual or augmented reality environment using an interactive icon. One method comprises: receiving, over a computer network, a request for payment authorization; identifying, based on the request for payment authorization, a virtual reality interface; generating an icon in the virtual reality interface, the icon having a randomized display of authentication characters; receiving user input associated with at least one character of the of payment authentication characters in the virtual reality interface; and generating a payment authorization response to the request for payment authorization based on the received user input.

The invention relates generally to secure data entry devices and methods of using such devices. A secure data entry device is provided that includes an integrated imaging device arranged such that it captures at least one image of a user during a transaction. The at least one image is processed in order to generate a biometric pattern. In one embodiment the at least one image includes a user's face and the processing involves applying a facial recognition algorithm to the at least one image to generate the biometric pattern. In some embodiments the biometric pattern is compared to a trusted biometric pattern in order to determine whether to approve or decline the transaction.

Systems and methods for authenticating an electronic transaction using a hosted authentication service. The systems and methods determine whether an authentication is required based on a first electronic message received from a first data system. Upon determining the authentication is required, the systems and methods transmit a dummy authentication request and a hosted authentication service uniform resource locator to the first data system. The systems and methods further determine or receive an indication whether a user authentication challenge is required based on a transaction risk analysis by a second data system. Upon determining the user authentication challenge is required, the systems and methods provide, at a user interface, an electronic form including a challenge request. The systems and methods transmit, to the first data system, another electronic form including a dummy authentication response generated based on a challenge result.

A method of communicating between a first electronic communication device of a plurality of electronic communication devices and a wireless communication initiating device for reading the first electronic communication device. The method comprises receiving, at the first electronic communication device, a communication signal from the wireless communication initiating device and determining a first characteristic value relating to the communication signal.
