Techniques for providing streaming content include receiving a first request, from a first user, for a link to streaming content. These techniques further include determining a geographic location of the first user based on the first request, generating a geo-specific token describing the geographic location of the first user, and transmitting the link to the streaming content to the first user, the link including the geo-specific token. The techniques further include receiving a second request for the streaming content based on the link, the second request comprising the geo-specific token, and denying the second request for the streaming content based on comparing the geo-specific token with additional geographic information determined based on the second request.

The present invention sets forth techniques for the asynchronous delivery of localized textual elements to a client device, where each client device is executing a user session having an associated user context. The client device sends a request for a textual element, including a dictionary key associated with the textual element and a specification of the user context. The techniques receive the request, dictionary key, and user context, and select one of a plurality of virtual dictionaries based on the user context. The techniques then locate the dictionary key within the selected virtual dictionary and retrieve a key value associated with the dictionary key. The key value represents a localized translation of the requested textual element, and is transmitted to the client device for display to the user. Changes to one or more dictionary key values may be propagated to the client device in near real-time.

In some embodiments, a method receives a list of ranked entities for playback. The list of ranked entities being ranked in a first order based on information for a user account. The method uses at least a portion of the list of ranked entities to determine corresponding channels that are playing the at least the portion of the list of ranked entities. The at least the portion of the list of ranked entities are displayed in an electronic programming guide in a first time range based on the first order. The method uses the channels associated with the at least the portion of the list of ranked entities to display second entities from the channels in a second time range.

In some embodiments, a method transcodes a first location from a spatial region. The first location is associated with a first pattern defining a structure of splitting a location into smaller shapes. A bit string of bits is included for the first pattern in an encoded bitstream. The method determines the first location in the spatial region when the first pattern of the first location can be reused for a second pattern of a second location. The first location is one of a plurality of locations in the spatial region. Information for the second location is included in the encoded bitstream that indicates the first location in the spatial region without including a bit string of bits for the second pattern. The first location allows the bit string of bits for the first pattern to be retrieved for use to decode the second location from the encoded bitstream.

In some embodiments, a method determines a prediction network that is trained to map a contextual taxonomy to a standard taxonomy. An indication of a break that is going to be experienced during playback of an instance of main content is received. A client device is playing back the instance of main content. The method determines a set of contextual tags based on content associated with the break in the instance of main content. The prediction network maps the set of contextual tags to a set of standard tags from the standard taxonomy. The method determines an instance of supplemental content based on the set of standard tags. The information to insert the instance of supplemental content in the break during a playback of the instance of main content is provided to the client device.

In some embodiments, a method receives a request for playback of primary content. The request is associated with a distribution context. Decorations are determined for a set of insertion points. The method selects inclusion rules for the distribution context. The inclusion rules include a template describing references for supplemental content or default supplemental content for types in the set of types. Types are evaluated for the set of insertion points using the template to determine an experience timeline in which insertion points are associated with references for supplemental content or default supplemental content for types. The method determines playback materials for the set of insertion points in the primary content based on the references for supplemental content or default supplemental content for types in the set of types for the experience timeline. A set of instances of supplemental content is inserted in the insertion points.

In some embodiments, a method receives a plurality of pull notification options at an application. The method determines whether to perform a ranking of the plurality of pull notification options at the application. When the ranking is be performed at the application: ranking the plurality of pull notification options; and outputting the plurality of pull notification options for display on the application based on the ranking. A pull notification option in the plurality of pull notification options is associated with information to cause an associated contact option to be contacted upon selection of the pull notification option. When the ranking is not to be performed by the application, the method outputs the plurality of pull notification options for display on the application.

A method includes determining embeddings in an embedding space for segments of a plurality of documents. A cluster is determined for respective segments based on a set of clusters. The cluster is determined based on a position of respective embeddings in the embedding space. The method determines a weight for the cluster for respective embeddings. The respective embeddings are weighted for a document in the plurality of documents using the weight of the cluster for the respective embeddings to generate weighted embeddings. A set of attributes from the weighted embeddings is determined for the document.

In some embodiments, a method receives a file for transcoding. A timing requirement is associated with the transcoding of the file. The method generates a prediction of a timing estimation based on characteristics of the file and a set of target configurations. A target configuration in the set of target configurations is associated with a transcoding setting. The timing estimation is analyzed for the set of target configurations and the timing requirement to determine a transcoding configuration of a transcoding system. The transcoding configuration of the transcoding system is output to configure the transcoding system to transcode the file. The file is to be transcoded using at least a portion of the set of target configurations based on configuring of the transcoding system.

In some embodiments, a method determines an intent for requesting an instance of media content. A number of entropy slots is determined based on the intent for requesting the media content. An entropy slot in the media content is where a segment from a first version of the media content or a second version of the media content can be delivered. The method creates the second version of the media content having a first number of segments based on the number of entropy slots. The first number of segments in the second version of the media content based on the number of entropy slots is less than a second number of segments in the first version of the media content. The second version of the media content is output. The first version and the second version are used to create different sequences of segments that are attributable to different requests.
