In some embodiments, a method transcodes a first location from a spatial region. The first location is associated with a first pattern defining a structure of splitting a location into smaller shapes. A bit string of bits is included for the first pattern in an encoded bitstream. The method determines the first location in the spatial region when the first pattern of the first location can be reused for a second pattern of a second location. The first location is one of a plurality of locations in the spatial region. Information for the second location is included in the encoded bitstream that indicates the first location in the spatial region without including a bit string of bits for the second pattern. The first location allows the bit string of bits for the first pattern to be retrieved for use to decode the second location from the encoded bitstream.

In some embodiments, a method receives a file for transcoding. A timing requirement is associated with the transcoding of the file. The method generates a prediction of a timing estimation based on characteristics of the file and a set of target configurations. A target configuration in the set of target configurations is associated with a transcoding setting. The timing estimation is analyzed for the set of target configurations and the timing requirement to determine a transcoding configuration of a transcoding system. The transcoding configuration of the transcoding system is output to configure the transcoding system to transcode the file. The file is to be transcoded using at least a portion of the set of target configurations based on configuring of the transcoding system.

In some embodiments, a method maintains a list that is configured to store motion vectors from one or more blocks that have been previously processed in a frame. When a current block is in a first set of positions in the frame, the method resets the list by storing a motion vector with a horizontal component and a vertical component equal to zero in the list. The motion vector with the horizontal component and the vertical component equal to zero from the list is used to transcode the current block. When the current block is not in the first set of positions, the method uses a motion vector from the list to transcode the current block.

A method includes transcoding, by a first transcoding process, a first sub-partition of a current block using a first set of reference pixels. Also, the method includes transcoding, by a second transcoding process, a second sub-partition of the current block using the first set of reference pixels. The first transcoding process transcodes a third sub-partition of the current block based on a second set of reference pixels. The second transcoding process transcodes a fourth sub-partition of the current block based on a third set of reference pixels.

In some embodiments, a method determines an element that is associated with a value in a manifest presentation description for a media presentation being played. The value indicates the element of the manifest presentation description is part of a group. Elements in the manifest presentation description are reviewed to determine whether elements in the one or more elements are associated with the value. The method forms a group of elements from elements in the manifest presentation description that include the value and should be replaced as a group. A single request is sent to a device to resolve the group of elements. The method receives information for content for the single request. The information for the content is inserted in the manifest presentation description in place of the group of elements.

In some embodiments, a method receives a line item factor for a line item at a first model. The method receives a competition factor at a second model. The first model generates a first value for a representation parameter based on the line item factor. The representation parameter is used to generate a representation for estimating selection of the instance of supplemental content for the line item for delivery. The second model generates a modification factor based on the competition factor. The modification factor is configured to modify the first value for the representation parameter based on competition from other line items to select the instance of supplemental content for the line item for delivery. The method modifies the first value for the representation parameter using the modification factor to generate a second value for the representation parameter where the second value is used to generate the representation.

In some embodiments, a method receives a time period in which video files will be delivered through a plurality of nodes. The method determines a plurality of user accounts that may use a video delivery system to deliver the video files in the time period; generates probabilities of which nodes may be used for each of the plurality of user accounts in the time period; and generates probabilities of which video files may be accessed by each of the plurality of user accounts. A list of video files is generated for a node based on the probabilities of which video files may be accessed and the probabilities of which nodes may be used for each of the plurality of user accounts. The method causes at least a portion of the list of video files for the node to be stored on the node.

In some embodiments, a method receives a file for transcoding. A timing requirement is associated with the transcoding of the file. The method generates a prediction of a timing estimation based on characteristics of the file and a set of target configurations. A target configuration in the set of target configurations is associated with a transcoding setting. The timing estimation is analyzed for the set of target configurations and the timing requirement to determine a transcoding configuration of a transcoding system. The transcoding configuration of the transcoding system is output to configure the transcoding system to transcode the file. The file is to be transcoded using at least a portion of the set of target configurations based on configuring of the transcoding system.

In some embodiments, a method sends a set of first requests for a set of first segments of a video in a playback session. A first protocol from a plurality of protocols is specified in at least one of the set of first requests. The set of first segments is received. The method determines whether to switch from using the first protocol to a second protocol in the playback session based on receiving the set of first segments. When switching to the second protocol, the method sends a second request in the playback session, wherein the second request indicates the second protocol is to be used to send a second segment of the video.
