A brake system may include at least two wheel brake cylinder of separate wheel circuits, at least one pressure supply to provide pressure in the wheel brake cylinders, at least one reservoir, at least one electronic control and regulating unit, and switching valves arranged to connect and disconnect respective hydraulic lines connected to the respective wheel brake cylinders to/from at least one main hydraulic line coupled to the pressure supply(s). Leakage diagnostics of the individual wheel circuits and/or other components of the brake system may be carried out. The switching valves may include an electromagnetic drive and a force-adding device for operation of the valves.

A brake system for a motor vehicle may comprise an actuating device, in particular a brake pedal, a pressure supply device, in particular a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit driven by an electric motor driven, for hydraulically adjusting a brake piston of at least one wheel brake, wherein the pressure supply device works in particular on wheel brakes of the front axle of the motor vehicle, and having at least one electromechanically actuatable wheel brake, for electrically adjusting a brake piston of the wheel brake, in particular for the rear wheels of the motor vehicle. For electromechanically actuating the wheel brake, an electric motor and a first transmission, which transmits the driving force of the motor to a further transmission, in particular a ball-screw transmission, are provided. One or more (hydraulic and/or electric) components or subsystems of the brake system are designed to have at least one layer of redundancy.

A brake system for a vehicle may contain redundant components that permit braking force to be applied in case of partial or complete failure of a primary braking mechanism. The system may include at least one hydraulic brake circuit having at least one hydraulically operating wheel brake; a pressure supply device driven by an electric-motor drive; at least one electronic control and regulating device; a valve assembly having valves for setting wheel-specific brake pressures and/or for (dis)connecting the wheel brakes (from)to the pressure supply device; a piston-cylinder unit actuable by an actuating device, which can be connected to the at least one hydraulic brake circuit, to at least one brake unit comprising an electric drive motor, to an electric parking brake, to a hydraulically supported electromechanical brake, and/or to an electromechanical brake; at least one electric drive motor for at least one axle or wheel; and a central control unit.

A driving dynamics system for a vehicle may include a primary control unit for detecting and/or generating steering commands and braking commands; a brake system having first and second electrohydraulic pressure supply units; four hydraulically actuatable wheel brakes of respective wheels; electrically actuatable brake pressure adjustment valves; and an electric steering actuator for actuating at least one axle. The driving dynamics system may implement a steering command during normal operation to actuate at least one of the pressure supply units and the steering actuator and/or, to implement a braking command during normal operation, to actuate at least the second pressure supply unit and at least the brake pressure adjustment valves for a wheel-specific pressure adjustment and, in a fault case, to actuate at least the first pressure supply unit and at least the brake pressure adjustment valves for a wheel-specific pressure adjustment.

A brake system may include an actuating device, in particular a brake pedal; a first piston-cylinder unit having two pistons subjecting the brake circuits to a pressure medium via a valve device, wherein one of the pistons can be actuated by the actuation device; a second piston-cylinder unit having an electric motor drive, a transmission at least one piston to supply at least one of the brake circuits with a pressure medium via a valve device; and a motor pump unit with a valve device to supply the brake circuits with a pressure medium. The brake system may also include a hydraulic travel simulator with a pressure or working chamber which is connected to the first piston-cylinder unit.

A brake device for a motor vehicle with two axles in which at least one axle has an electric traction motor for driving and braking at least one wheel arranged on an axle, and in which energy can be recovered by means of the traction motor during braking, each wheel having a wheel brake. The brake device includes a pressure supply having an electric motor-driven pump in the form of a piston-cylinder unit or a rotary pump, which can both build up pressure and reduce pressure, and which is part of a pressure supply device. An open-loop and closed-loop control device controls the traction motor and components of the pressure supply device such that a braking deceleration can be set by closed-loop control individually for each brake circuit, each axle or wheel brakes of an axle, with different braking torques at the respective axles or wheel brakes of an axle.
