A brake system may include an actuating device, in particular a brake pedal; a first piston-cylinder unit having two pistons subjecting the brake circuits to a pressure medium via a valve device, wherein one of the pistons can be actuated by the actuation device; a second piston-cylinder unit having an electric motor drive, a transmission at least one piston to supply at least one of the brake circuits with a pressure medium via a valve device; and a motor pump unit with a valve device to supply the brake circuits with a pressure medium. The brake system may also include a hydraulic travel simulator with a pressure or working chamber which is connected to the first piston-cylinder unit.

A brake system for a vehicle may contain redundant components that permit braking force to be applied in case of partial or complete failure of a primary braking mechanism. The system may include at least one hydraulic brake circuit having at least one hydraulically operating wheel brake; a pressure supply device driven by an electric-motor drive; at least one electronic control and regulating device; a valve assembly having valves for setting wheel-specific brake pressures and/or for (dis)connecting the wheel brakes (from) to the pressure supply device; a piston-cylinder unit actuable by an actuating device, which can be connected to the at least one hydraulic brake circuit, to at least one brake unit comprising an electric drive motor, to an electric parking brake, to a hydraulically supported electromechanical brake, and/or to an electromechanical brake; at least one electric drive motor for at least one axle or wheel; and a central control unit.

A brake system and a method for controlling a brake system. The brake system may include a first module having a first pressure supply unit with an electromotive drive, an optional second pressure supply unit and a first control device for controlling the first pressure supply unit; a second module having a third pressure supply unit, isolation valves and brake-pressure-adjusting valves, and a second control device for controlling the brake-pressure-adjusting valves; and a detection unit for detecting a first case of error. The brake system is designed such that, in the first case of error, in order to provide an ABS function and/or a yaw torque intervention, it implements a (wheel-specific and/or selective) adjustment of the pressures in the wheel brakes by actuating at least one of the brake-pressure-adjusting valves of the second module and/or the isolation valves of the second module and the first pressure supply unit.

An actuation device for a hydraulic actuation system, e.g., a motor vehicle brake or an electrified clutch actuator, may include a connection for an actuation device; a pressure supply device, driven by an electromotor drive, in the form of a piston or double-stroke piston pump; a piston cylinder unit that may be actuated by means of the actuation device; and an electronic control unit. An axis of the piston cylinder unit and an axis of the pressure supply device may be arranged in parallel.

A brake system may include: two hydraulic brake circuits, each having at least one wheel brake; a first pressure supply device for pressure build-up and release in at least one brake circuit via forward and return travel of a piston; a second pressure supply device with a continuous delivery, electromotively-driven piston pump, gear pump, or eccentric piston pump; at least one valve assembly with valves for adjusting pressure for each wheel brake and/or for connecting/disconnecting the wheel brakes and at least one of the pressure supply devices; at least one electronic control unit; a connection line connecting the two brake circuits; and at least one outlet valve for pressure release. The wheel brakes are paired with dedicated switch valves. Each brake circuit has a hydraulic main line to connect the switch valves to the first and second pressure supply devices, which provide different maximum pressures and/or delivery volumes.

A brake system may include an actuation device that may actuate a first piston-cylinder unit to apply pressure medium to at least one brake circuit via a valve device, where a piston of the first piston-cylinder unit separate first and second working chambers; a second piston-cylinder unit, having an electromotive drive and a transmission to feed pressure medium to at least one of the brake circuits via a valve device; and a motor-pump unit having a valve device to feed pressure medium to the brake circuits. The motor of the electromotive drive of the second piston-cylinder unit and the motor of the motor-pump unit may be used jointly or independently of one another, under control of a control device. The motor-pump unit is connected via two hydraulic connections, one or both of which may incorporate separating valves, to the first and second working chambers of the first piston-cylinder unit.

Apparatus for generating braking force in a vehicle brake system has at least two pressure supply devices and first and second hydraulic brake circuits, each having at least one or two hydraulic wheel brakes. Pressure in at least one brake circuit can be both built up and released by the pressure supply devices, which include a piston pump or gear pump driven by an electric motor drive and deliver continuous volume. At least one valve arrangement may adjust wheel brake pressures individually and/or disconnect/connect the wheel brakes from/to a brake circuit and/or a pressure supply device. At least one electronic control unit enables open-loop and closed-loop control. Pressure increase is enabled in one or both brake circuits, independently or in combination, using first and/or second pressure supply devices that produce changes in pressure simultaneously or temporally offset or overlapping.

An actuation device for a hydraulically operating brake system may include: a master cylinder in a housing and having at least one piston, to which a force can be applied by, e.g., a brake pedal; pressure supply device(s), at least one of which is a piston pump or double stroke piston pump having a piston and driven by an electromotive drive, the drive moving the piston directly or via a step-up gear; at least one valve assembly with magnetic valves; and at least one electronic control and regulating unit. The brake system has at least two hydraulic circuits, and a pressure change can be carried out in at least one wheel brake via the pressure supply device(s). A first housing or module, hydraulically connected to the housing, may contain the valve assembly and the at least one piston and pressure chamber of at least one of the pressure supply devices.
