A method of automating actions of a non-combustible aerosol provision system involves receiving input indicative of a rule to be set for the non-combustible aerosol provision system. The rule includes at least one condition and at least one action to be performed by the non-combustible aerosol provision system in response to the at least one condition being satisfied. The method also involves detecting that the at least one condition is satisfied and causing the non-combustible aerosol provision system to perform the at least one action.

An application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) package for use in an electrical or electronic device is disclosed, the ASIC package comprising a plurality of functional units and a plurality of terminals. Each functional unit is configured with control logic operable to provide a discrete monitoring and/or control function associated with an aspect of operation of the electrical or electronic device. Each terminal comprises a plurality of input and/or output terminals, each input and/or output terminal being connected to at least one of the functional units. An operating status of each of the functional units is independently configurable into one of an enabled and non-enabled operational state, and the ASIC package is configured to be set into a target functional configuration selected from a plurality of different functional configurations. Each of the plurality of functional configurations comprises a different combination of operating states associated with respective ones of the plurality of functional units. In this way, the ASIC package provides a degree of customisability of supported functions, enabling the same ‘master’ ASIC package (e.g. the as-fabricated ASIC package) to be modified after manufacture to tailor the supported function set to a specific one of a plurality of devices.

There is provided an aerosol provision system, for providing an aerosol for inhalation by a user, comprising: an aerosol provision device comprising: control circuitry for identifying an aerosol generating article, the control circuitry comprising a physical connection, an aerosol generating article for storing an aerosol generating material and; a connector comprising a complementary physical connection for connecting to the physical connection of the control circuitry.

An aerosol provision system ( 1 ) for generating an aerosol, wherein the aerosol provision system ( 1 ) is configured to wirelessly transmit a feedback signal ( 290 ) to an audio output device ( 200 ). The feedback signal ( 290 ) is configured for controlling the audio output device ( 200 ), which may be a loudspeaker, headphone, or earphone. In some cases, the feedback signal ( 290 ) is configured to be wirelessly transmitted by the aerosol provision system ( 1 ) in response to a predetermined event being determined as being satisfied by the aerosol provision system ( 290 ). In this way, the feedback signal ( 290 ) can used as a means to ultimately provide the user, via the audio output device ( 200 ), an indication of a current status of the aerosol provision system ( 1 ).

A cartridge for an aerosol provision system can include the cartridge and a control unit, and the system can include a vaporizer for vaporizing An aerosolizable material. The cartridge can include an air channel extending from an air inlet for the cartridge to an outlet via an aerosol generation region, and a reservoir for containing aerosolizable material for aerosolizing. The cartridge can further include an aerosolizable material level observation means for allowing a user to observe a level of aerosolizable material inside the reservoir. The aerosolizable-material-level observation means can include at least one contoured surface located on a surface of the cartridge to improve the visibility of the aerosolizable material level inside the reservoir due to the interaction of light with the contoured surface.

An aerosol provision device is configured to receive at least a portion of an article comprising aerosol generating material, the aerosol provision device comprising an article sensor and a processor, wherein the article sensor comprises a receiver for receiving a receiver signal from the article, the receiver signal indicative of article information, wherein the processor is configured to: determine whether the receiver signal has a receiver signal strength below a detection threshold; and in response to the receiver signal strength being below the detection threshold, modify an operation parameter of the article sensor to increase the receiver signal strength.

An aerosol provision system generates aerosol from an aerosol generating material for user inhalation. The system includes a computer configured to estimate user demand for an active ingredient within the generated aerosol, based on one or more inhalation actions of the user during an immediately preceding inhalation session, where an inhalation session being no more than one hour long. The computer adjusts one or more operational parameters of the aerosol provision system responsive to the estimated user demand, and adapts aerosol provision for the next inhalation action.

An aerosol provision device comprises: an aerosol generator configured to generate an aerosol from an article comprising aerosol generating material; a memory configured to store article data, the article data relating to a characteristic of the article, the memory further configured to store activation data, the activation data relating to activation of the aerosol generator during an in progress aerosol generation session for the article; and a processor configured to perform a remaining puffs calculation during the aerosol generation session, the remaining puffs calculation using the article data and the activation data to determine data relating to a remaining number of puffs of the article.

An aerosol delivery subsystem for an aerosol delivery system, comprising an inlet; an outlet; and a baffle configured to move and thereby modify fluid flow along a flow path between the inlet and the outlet in use, in response to fluid being drawn along the flow path.

A computer is configured to receive, from a refilling device for an article of an aerosol provision system associated with the computer via a remote data store using a wireless communications protocol, an indication of a number of times the article of the aerosol provision system has been refilled with aerosol generating material. The computer is then configured to provide the indication to a user of the computer.
