Company patents

SIG Services AG

SIG Services AG's patent strategy reveals a strong, albeit consolidating, focus on its core "Containers & Packaging" sector, which constitutes 53.5% of its portfolio, despite a significant -60.0% decline in patenting activity so far in 2026. Surprisingly, while "Plastics Shaping & Molding" and "Packaging Machines" show declining trends, "Layered Products (Laminates, Films)" emerged as a rapidly growing focus in 2025 with a +66.7% YoY increase, indicating a strategic shift towards advanced material science within its packaging solutions, even though 2026 data is partial.

Sealing device and method for sealing equipment elements to workpieces by means of ultrasound

Filed:2022-09-26Pub:2026-01-20
Applicant:SIG Services AG

A sealing device for sealing equipment elements to workpieces, in particular in the form of a composite laminate, by means of ultrasound, with a sonotrode for generating an ultrasound, with a sealing surface for transmitting the ultrasound to the equipment element and/or the workpiece, with an anvil opposite the sonotrode and with an adjusting device for adjusting the sonotrode. The anvil relative to one another from an open position for at least partial inserting of the equipment element. The workpiece into a sealing gap between the sonotrode and the anvil into a closed position for at least partially pressing the workpiece. The equipment element between the sealing surface of the sonotrode and the anvil during ultrasonic sealing and back. In order to prevent damage and leakiness in workpieces such as packaging laminates, for example in the area of crease lines, by sealing equipment elements such as spouts to the workpieces or the packaging laminates by means of ultrasound, it is provided that at least one pair of mutually corresponding clamping means vibration-decoupled from the sealing surface is provided on opposite sides of the sealing gap for clamping the workpiece in the closed position. At least one pair of clamping means are provided outside the sealing surface as viewed in a direction along the sealing gap relative to the equipment element.

LIQUID-TIGHT CONTAINER, PREFORM, METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME, AND USES

Filed:2023-03-20Pub:2025-07-03
Applicant:SIG Services AG

The present invention relates to a liquid-tight container comprising a container wall which surrounds a container interior at least in part, wherein: a jacket element and a first end element are connected to one another and each form a portion of the container wall; wherein the jacket element delimits the container interior in a transverse direction extending from the inside to the outside in relation to the container interior, and comprises a rim portion having a first edge; wherein the first end element delimits the container interior at a first end of the liquid-tight container in a longitudinal direction extending along the length of the container, and comprises a further edge which points in the longitudinal direction; wherein the rim portion a. is located at the first end of the container, and b. encloses the further edge counter to the transverse direction from the outside to the inside in such a way that i. the first edge of the jacket element points counter to the longitudinal direction, and ii. the liquid-tight container comprises, at the first end in the transverse direction, a ply sequence comprising A. a first ply of the jacket element, B. a ply of the first end element, and C. a further ply of the jacket element; wherein the rim portion comprises, at least on a side pointing inwards counter to the transverse direction, a plurality of portions of a first type and a plurality of portions of a further type, which portions differ from one another in their thickness in the transverse direction. The invention also relates to a precursor for producing the liquid-tight container, to a method for producing a liquid-tight container, to the use of a liquid-tight container, and to the use of an ultrasonic generator and/or an ultrasonic sonotrode.

LIQUID-TIGHT CONTAINER, METHODS FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF, AND USES

Filed:2023-03-20Pub:2025-06-26
Applicant:SIG Services AG

The invention relates to a container comprising a container wall at least partially enclosing a container interior, and a first joining element; wherein a jacket element and a first end element each form a region of the container wall; wherein at least one first plane running parallel to the length of the container through the container interior comprises a first joining layer sequence, over the entire lateral extent of which, with respect to the first joining layer sequence, the jacket element, the first joining element and the first end element directly follow one another as layers; wherein the first joining element has a first surface contacting the first end element and a second surface contacting the jacket element; wherein an imaginary first straight line connects both end points of a first line formed in the at least one first plane by the first surface and lying within the first joining layer sequence; wherein an imaginary second straight line connects both end points of a second line formed in the at least one first plane by the second surface and lying within the first joining layer sequence; wherein the first straight line forms a first acute angle with the second straight line. The invention further relates to methods and a device for the production of the container and to uses of the container, of a sheet-like composite and of joining tools.
