Disclosed herein are reference feet for inserters and method of use thereof. The reference feet can include a body, a tine, a first arm, and a first base. The body can have a longitudinal axis and define an engagement fixture oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis and sized to receive a complementary fixture of an inserter. The tine can extend from the body along the longitudinal axis and including a protuberance sized to engage a stop of the inserter. The first arm can extend from the body. The first base can be attached to the first arm and have a planar surface arranged at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis.

A reamer comprises a handle, a first shaft extending from the handle in a fixed manner, first and second pivoting blades connected to a distal end of the first shaft, a second shaft extending from the handle in a translatable manner, wherein the handle is rotatable to adjust a position between the first and second shafts to adjust a cutting diameter of the pivoting blades, and a locking mechanism to lock the pivoting blades into different cutting diameters. The pivoting blades can comprise double-sided blades. A method of reaming a bone with an expandable reamer comprises adjusting a cutting diameter of a cutting tip to a first diameter, locking the cutting tip at the first diameter, reaming a first diameter bore into the bone, unlocking the cutting tip, expanding the cutting diameter to a second diameter, relocking the cutting tip, and expanding the first diameter bore.

Systems and methods may be used to perform robot-aided surgery. A system may include a robotic controller to monitor a position and orientation of an end effector coupled to an end of a robotic arm. The robotic controller may apply a force to a bone using the end effector, such as via a soft tissue balancing component. The robotic controller may determine soft tissue balance using information from a tracking system, such as a position of a first tracker affixed to the bone. The soft tissue balance may be output, such as to a display device.

Systems and methods for reaming an intramedullary canal of a long bone comprise a trial stem configured to extend into the long bone along an insertion axis and a guide device comprising an adapter configured to couple to the trial stem and a reaming guidepost extending from the adapter along a guide axis, wherein the guide axis and the insertion axis are non-aligned. A method of reaming an intramedullary canal of a long bone to form a complex shaped socket can comprise inserting a stem into the intramedullary canal along an insertion axis, connecting a guide device to the stem, the guide device comprising a guidepost extending along a guide axis and guiding a cannulated reamer along the guidepost to remove bone from the intramedullary canal to form the complex shaped socket, wherein the guide axis and the insertion axis are non-aligned.

A cutting guide for a robotic surgical system can include a cutting block defining a guide surface to guide a cutting instrument along a trajectory, an arm connected to the cutting block to couple the cutting guide to the robotic surgical system, and a first retractable shield configured to extend from a first retracted position clear of the trajectory to a second deployed position within the trajectory.

A system and method for using augmented reality device for use during a surgical procedure are described. A system may include an augmented reality device to present a virtual indication, such as a virtual indication of a surgical instrument, a force vector, a direction, or the like. The augmented reality device may present a virtual aspect of a procedure, such as a virtual animation of a step of a procedure. The augmented reality device may present a virtual object, indication, aspect, etc., within a surgical field while permitting the surgical field or aspects of the surgical field to be viewed through the augmented reality display (e.g., presenting virtual objects mixed with real objects).

According to one example, an extractor may include a main body and a coupling mechanism. The main body can include a slot configured to receive a fastener that couples the extractor to the tibial prosthesis, a groove extending to a lateral side and a medial side of the slot and a projection at least partially defining a side wall of the groove. The coupling mechanism can be connected to the main body and configured to connect with an instrument.

Illustrated and discussed examples include a method of designing a cutting instrument for removing a portion of a bone of a patient. The method can include: receiving with a computing device, bone data; receiving with the computing device, operation data regarding one or more operating parameters for the cutting instrument; receiving a first plurality of device design parameters for the cutting instrument; performing a first analysis using the first plurality of device design parameters for the cutting instrument, the bone data and the operation data; altering one or more of the first plurality of device design parameters to a second plurality of device design parameters for the cutting instrument; performing a second analysis using the second plurality of device design parameters, the bone data and the operation data; and outputting a design of the cutting instrument after performing at least the first analysis and the second analysis.

An apparatus can include an osteotome blade including an elongate main body extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the elongate main body having a curved cross-section and defining a helical path along at least a portion of a longitudinal axis of the elongate main body, wherein the distal end includes a distal cutting edge.

A tibial implant cutting guide comprises a plate to engage a resected surface and an elongate slot extending through the plate along an axis and having first and second longitudinal walls extending parallel to the axis, and a first end wall perpendicular to the axis, the first and second longitudinal walls are spaced apart by a distance and the first end wall is at least as wide as the distance. A method of arthroplasty comprises resecting a tibia to form a resected surface, advancing a cutting head in a cutting slot of a plate to engage flush with a flat first end of the cutting slot to form a bone channel, and inserting a keel into the bone channel. A method of manufacturing a tibial template comprises forming a longitudinal cutting slot in a plate and forming a widening of the cutting slot at an end of the cutting slot.
