A method of fabricating a cork composite material is disclosed herein. The method includes providing a plurality of cork particles, adding a binder material to the cork particles to form a mixture of the cork particles and the binder material, transferring the mixture to a mold, applying energy to the mixture, cooling the mixture, and removing the cork composite material from the mold. Further, the energy includes electromagnetic radiation that fuses the cork particles with the binder material. Cooling the mixture solidifies the mixture, thereby forming a cork composite material.

A sole structure that includes an outsole having an upper outsole and a lower outsole that is directly coupled with the upper outsole such that the outsole defines a front portion, a middle portion, and a rear portion. The sole structure further includes a front cushioning member that is disposed within a front spacing that is defined between the upper outsole and the lower outsole, a plurality of first ground engaging members that extend from a bottom surface of the upper outsole member, and a plurality of second ground engaging members that extend from a bottom surface of the lower outsole member. The upper outsole and the lower outsole are each configured to engage with a ground surface. The front spacing is provided in the front portion of the outsole.

The article of footwear also includes a forefoot cushion disposed between the first plate and the second plate, a heel cushion spaced from the forefoot cushion, a first outsole portion coupled to the plurality of plates in the forefoot region, and a second outsole portion coupled to the heel cushion.

An article of footwear includes an upper having a base layer that includes a first layer and a second layer. The second layer is a series of cushioning elements that extend outward from the first layer. The upper also includes a top layer that is partially connected to a perimeter of the base layer such that a void is disposed between the base layer and the top layer, and at least one of the cushioning elements of the series of cushioning elements is located within the void defined between the base layer and the top layer.

An article of footwear that includes a sole structure and an upper and defines a widest section, a narrowest section, a toe end, a heel end, a lateral side, and a medial side. The sole structure includes a first midsole directly coupled to the upper that includes a lateral side depression and a medial side depression. The sole structure further includes a sole plate directly coupled to the first midsole, a second midsole directly coupled to the first midsole and the sole plate, and a third midsole directly coupled to the first midsole and the sole plate. A periphery of the third midsole defines a medial lip and a lateral lip. The lateral side depression of the first midsole receives the lateral lip of the third midsole, and the medial side depression of the first midsole receives the medial lip of the third midsole.

An article of footwear having a sole structure and an upper and defining a widest section, a narrowest section, a toe end, a heel end, a lateral side, and a medial side. The sole structure includes a top midsole directly coupled to the upper, a sole plate directly coupled to the top midsole, a front midsole directly coupled to the top midsole and the sole plate, a rear midsole directly coupled to the top midsole and the sole plate, and an outsole directly coupled to the front midsole and the rear midsole. The top midsole includes an upper side and an underside, and the upper side of the top midsole includes a lip around an outer edge of the upper side. Further, the underside of the top midsole includes a plurality of recesses, and the top midsole includes an aperture that extends from the upper side to the underside.

An article of footwear having an upper and a sole structure that defines a lateral side and a medial side, a forefoot region, a midfoot region and a heel region. The sole structure includes an outsole that defines a notch that extends toward a toe end of the sole structure. The sole structure further includes a first midsole member that defines an opening within the midfoot region that extends into the notch such that the outsole is disposed on the medial side and lateral side of the toe end of the opening. A second a midsole is positioned between the first midsole member and the upper, and a sole plate is disposed within the midfoot region. The second midsole member is visible though the opening from the bottom of the article of footwear and the second midsole member extends into an aperture in the sole plate.

An article of footwear includes an upper attached to a sole structure. The sole structure includes a midsole having a foam material. The midsole defines a posterior segment opposite an anterior segment relative to an arch segment in a longitudinal direction. The sole structure includes a first fiber strand within the midsole and extending through at least two of the posterior segment, the anterior segment, and the arch segment. A density of the first fiber strand is between about 1.2 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm 3 ) and about 2.0 g/cm 3 .

An article of footwear is provided that includes a sole structure and an upper attached to the sole structure. The upper includes an exterior layer and a base layer, and the exterior layer includes a biodegradable layer and a biologically active agent capable of biodegrading the biodegradable layer. The article of footwear has a first state in which the biodegradable layer is not biodegraded.

A method of making a midsole includes selecting a plurality of yarns. At least two yarns of the plurality of yarns have different properties relative to one another. The method further includes bundling the plurality of yarns to form a bundled yarn structure and intertwining the bundled yarn structure to form a twisted yarn structure. Further, the method includes depositing the twisted yarn structure into a first mold within an autoclave and applying a supercritical fluid to the twisted yarn structure. The method further includes supercritical fluid infiltrating and saturating the twisted yarn structure, depressurizing the autoclave to cause a foaming process therein to convert the twisted yarn structure into an anisotropic foam blank, and depositing the anisotropic foam blank within a second mold that is configured as a midsole for an article of footwear.
